There sure are a lot of beaches on this board here
Quaintrelle replied to LittleBill's topic in The Lounge
Life's a Beach! P.S. I think it takes a lot of courage to use your own photo. I have courage, just not THAT much! -
A vain NSV story.
Quaintrelle replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! You are doing this for yourself, but you have a right to feel so good about the way you look and are feeling. I think being overweight makes some of us more sympathetic towards others and nobody deserves to be treated the way she acts. Keep on shining! -
Super job! I am very happy for you.

I have been to many social gatherings since my surgeries. No problems, temptations, or comments from others. I just kept a glass in my hand and nobody questioned me. I am also keeping my surgery to myself. Best of luck to you....you can do it! P.S. The problem I am dealing with right now are all of he sweets and treats we received over the holidays. I don't want to throw them out, but I don't want them in my home either!

How long does this horrible nausea last?
Quaintrelle replied to kimlyon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had horrible nausea as well. They gave me a number of meds and finally gave me a patch. By the end of the second day I felt much better. I liked crushed ice as it went down easily. Hang in there....it gets so much better! I am 9 weeks out and down 47 pounds. I wish you the best. -
That is truly amazing. Your hard work has paid off for you AND inspired others, as well! Congratulations and Happy Holidays!

Need support/advice?
Quaintrelle replied to justabitunique's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I needed very little pain medication. I also have no memory of gas pains. I had severe nausea but the doctors and nurses helped manage it. Honestly this was the easiest surgery I have ever had. Sip and walk as much as possible. I am 8 weeks out and down 45 pounds. I wish you the best! -
I need some help with excercise! I am eight weeks out and down 46 pounds. My clothes are sliding right off- it's great! I am on my feet most of the day and try for 10K steps a day. My problem is my stomach is weak. In the past five years I have had a number of health issues, many requiring surgery ( total abdominal hysterectomy, breast cancer, chemo port surgeries, lab band in/lap band out, large incisional hernia repair, and now "my sleeve.") What have you veterans done to strengthen your stomach muscles? I need to start gently...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've one thing to say...
Quaintrelle replied to LisaMergs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What an amazing accomplishment...Congratulations! -
I agree, you should most definitely mention this to your surgeon. Then you should ask for a referral to a therapist. Talking to a qualified person has been a tremendous help for me. As L.L. Said eating is a different type of addiction. We need to eat to survive AND thrive, unlike using drugs or alcohol. I had a raging alcoholic (mother) tell me for years that " I only needed to cut back to lose weight." My "cutting back" and a lifetime of emotional abuse got me to nearly 300 pounds! For the first time in my life I am taking care of me. I am only six weeks out, but feel very hopeful about the future. Best of luck to you and remember to take one stage at a time.

What are you most excited for after WLS?
Quaintrelle replied to Kestrael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a fun and inspiring topic. I miss yoga, sailing, and hiking. My husband, the romantic, just bought me new hiking boots! Heck...I hadn't even thought about the underwear. Maybe I too, will celebrate by burning all of my granny panties with the Christmas tree ....in the back yard!!! -
6 days post op and screwed up bad...
Quaintrelle replied to MTWilliams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You posted for support and insight, I'm sure. Here's mine....take care of yourself, put yourself first, baby yourself, take the needed time to heal, and be kind to yourself. I am six weeks post op and I am still eating mostly puréed soups with added protein, yogurt, cottage cheese, applesauce, jello, and two Premier shakes a day. My challenge is in drinking enough liquid, not protein intake. Keep a journal of what you eat, your excercise, and how you are feeling. That has helped me. I wish for you the best. -
Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration!

You look fabulous.....and very happy, as well. Congratulations!

Just did some real disrespectful stuff!
Quaintrelle replied to Anthony74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Obviously we have all made many mistakes in our lives...many of which lead us to bariatric surgery. Being kind and supportive to one another is far more beneficial than being berated by people. I think that is human nature, to want to be treated kindly. I have been a teacher for many years and I get the best responses and results from my students when I treat them with respect, gentleness, and support. I am four weeks out today...and it has not been a completely smooth journey. I have read some posts with very helpful advice. This forum should be for information and support, shouldn't it? Anthony....I wish you great success. Keep looking forward. -
How much protein do you get in a day?
Quaintrelle replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op today. I am getting 60 G protein a day by drinking 2 Premier shakes(11oz each). Honestly, getting enough liquids is my biggest challenge. -
Who knows about your surgery?
Quaintrelle replied to jessgnc's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think there is enough going on with these healthy lifestyle changes. I don't feel the need to explain/defend my choices to anyone. For the first time, I am putting myself and does it ever feel wonderful! We know in our hearts where we will find the love and support we need to get healthy. Those are the only people I am sharing with. (Also, ironically, all of the kind and thoughtful strangers on this forum! ) Thank you! ☺️ -

Will I be broken forever?
Quaintrelle replied to kjkashmaniac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't broken, you are healing. Allow yourself that. IT DOES GET BETTER! I was sleeved on 10/14 and was so miserably nauseous for the first few days, I cried. A few bits advice: walk, sip, sip, sip, journal, listen to music, get outside, and HUG YOUR DOG! ???? When you are tired, rest. This is all about you...take care of yourself. Thank your loved ones and do what you need to do. I wish you the best. ???? -
19 days post op and need some help
Quaintrelle replied to DayzeeMay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 10/14. I have been eating applesauce, cottage cheese, yogurt, butternut squash soup, sweet potato-apple soup, carrot ginger soup, and 1-2 PREMIER Shakes a day. My biggest struggle is getting the liquids in. I went back to school after the first week ( I am in bed by 8 P.M.!) and there is never enough time to sip, sip, sip....and then run to the ladies room! Best Wishes to you. -
You look wonderful...I can see your great big smile, even from a side view! I am two weeks post-op today and I am already feeling better. Wishing you the best.
