Help! I'm so scared I've spent all this money for nothing
Shell Renewed replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a marathon not a sprint. My weight-loss is similar to yours and I'm super happy. Think long term. -
How much longer?
Shell Renewed replied to tsawyer91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really recommend at least calling and mentioning. He may not want this to wait if he knew. In addition to any issue there might be, it also can't be healthy just from a caloric intake perspective. You might be malnourished. I hope you don't wait 11 days. -

Shell Renewed replied to tsawyer91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with @@suzzzzz that this is not normal. If you have not yet discussed it with your surgeon I suggest you do that right away. There may be an issue that by not having it addressed may get worse with time, or at least not get better. Good luck! -
Anyone eat hummus?
Shell Renewed replied to spunkyheather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to try it for the first time post-op this week. I'll have a bit of it mixed in with chicken that I cooked and ran through the food processor, instead of making a chicken salad with a bit of mayo or greek yogourt. -
@@ray knight I was sleeved on Sep 6 and I haven't felt hungry. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat. Some still get hunger but I think the majority have less appetite.

@esskay I tried this tonight and it was amazing!! I used 1/4 c of parm instead of 1/2 c and other than that it was identical and is my new favourite recipe. It seems like it should be so high cal but it's not. My version (recipe counted as 4 servings) is cal 182 carbs 4 fat 12 Protein 14

@@shani1970 I'm so happy to hear it. I hope it wasn't a rough night. If you're still on liquids, try making Soup with milk, then strain out the solid bits, Jello, stuff like that. Tomato soup with milk, etc. You might want to really take it easy for a day or two on your stomach after yesterday. just things that are super easy to digest.

How are you doing now a few hours later @shani1970. Been a bit worried about you.

I could have gone back after one week, but everyone is different.

September Sleevers!
Shell Renewed replied to Smashley23's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Jonitra I was sleeved on the same day. I've been flavouring my Water and it helps. A bit of juice added in is one option. The other thing I've been doing is making a cup of super concentrated herbal tea (enough tea for 4-5 cups in one mug), then I put it in the fridge. I add a little bit to each bottle of water to give it a flavour kick. It lasts a few days in the fridge. I mix it up with the herbal tea flavours. -
Is it normal that I can down a one-cup protein shake in 2 minutes?
Shell Renewed posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I down a one-cup Protein shake (1/2 serving of powder in milk and/or Water in a one-cup container). I forget I'm sleeved and I down it in a couple of minutes. I do it without even thinking and I have no issues. I'm 11 days post-op. Am I stretching my sleeve? I'm anxious because protecting the size of my sleeve is higher priority to me than the weight-loss. If I protect the sleeve, the weight loss is bound to happen. -
September 2016 Post VSG Updates
Shell Renewed replied to Shell Renewed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@DesertWarrior My calorie intake is around 800 and I already plateaud. I'm on day 15 and haven't lost in close to a week, but I lost 13 the first week. I can't seem to get my intake higher. I'm not going to freak out at the stall, as they're common, though usually it seems they're somewhere between the 3-5 weeks for a lot of people. Yesterday I upped my protein and lowered my carbs a bit and dropped .2 of a lb, but I'm just focusing on slow and steady and the long term so I don't get discouraged. -

I found a low-fat pumpkin soup I plan to make tomorrow, in keeping with the season. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/recipes/pumpkin-soup/rcp-20049697 -
Food paranoia- tomato seeds are out to get me!
Shell Renewed replied to The_von's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 11 days post op and I'm doing really well but worrying about everything. Is my pureed pureed enough? Did I eat too fast? Did I drink too much liquid at once (I can down almost a cup with no issues)? Have I stretched my sleeve or damaged my sutures...Yes I relate! I like to think I'm just being a worrywart and that everything is fine -

Diet after Sleeve (fear of my own sabotage)
Shell Renewed replied to stefanie0804's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also did Dr. Bernstein years ago and wish I'd kept on top of the slow creep back up. I'm 10 days post surgery and it's the best decision I ever made. I'm not hungry much at all and I get full fast. Yes I've heard it's possible to sabotage with this, but I the way I feel about it is that I've been given this amazing opportunity and so I want to protect it my investment. It's still going to be work but it's like climbing a hill instead of Mt. Everest with this tool so far. Also the thing that finalised my decision is the depressing stats about how low the percentage is of people who keep weight off long term through diet and exercise. The stats are much, much better for WLS patients including VSG. You will find examples of people who regain and sabotage and you will find many examples of success. Statistically the odds are in your favour for success with the surgery. You just have to do your part. -
4wks out and starving
Shell Renewed replied to sdc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Check out the recipes section. You'll start to get ideas of how to make variations on your favorite foods. I just made a variation on mexican food tonight (recipe posted). You may want to add Beans, pureed beef, etc, to your diet for more variety. One of the ways I'll get variety is through the seasonings. -
4 days post op and I'm worried
Shell Renewed replied to rhaya sunshine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm day 10 and have been having no issues either. Like you I was wondering if there's something wrong if that it's too easy. Did they cut enough off, etc. My nurse reassured me, so now I'm grateful it's been smooth so far, though I know it may not always be. I love not being hungry and I love getting full fast. -
I had my surgery 6 days ago. Days 3 and especially 4, I was very emotional and moody. I chalked it up to the trauma of surgery and the after-effects of the anesthesia and pain meds. It will pass.

Learning the stats around how few keep weight off in the long term. Odds are higher with VSG.
