    Changes after hair loss

I am losing crazy hair. I used to have long strait hair down to my booty, and I had to cut it right after surgery to make it look better. I cried a bit, since I have always loved my long beautiful hair, but my psych told me I would be happier when it started to thin out and I had shorter hair so it wouldn't be as noticeable. He was right. I love my short hair now, and even though I can see the hair falling out, I dont notice it when I look in the mirror, nor does anyone else. So that makes me happy. 2. For mushies, I ate scrambled egg with cottage cheese in it. It becomes super soft and easy to eat, and I got about 6 oz from 1 egg and a spoonful of cottage cheese, so I would seperate it after into 3 2oz containers for 3 seperate meals. I also tolerated Wallaby fat free plain Greek yogurt with a bit of mushy canned fruit mixed in. I bought a bunch of Tuna, and then realized when I ate it, it tasted super gross, and I used to love tuna! So that didn't work for me. Ugh. Im just glad to be on real food now. Wedding ring too loose

My ring is too big now too. I am so bummed out. I'm going to get a cheap one from target I think, since mine is even too big for a ring spacer. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  4. My surgeon says I have to wait 18 months before getting pregnant. My hospital has Bariatric doctors who specialize in pregnancies post op, so when I do decide to conceive, I will be properly monitored. I get a lot of comfort knowing this since I really would like to have another child before I'm 30. My advice would be to ask your surgeon or your local hospital if you will be monitored after. I hate people around me

Lol, sorry, but it's funny to me, because my husbands grandmother is totally rude and she asked me why I wasn't drinking alcohol (she doesn't know I had surgery) and I told her because I was trying to lose weight and be healthy, and she said "oh ya, well how's that working out for ya?". I was floored. Sooo rude! I've lost like 21 lbs since she's seen me last, and your post just reminded me of her. Since I agree that most people can't tell until you've lost a huge amount of weight. At least in my experience I also have a snatchy friend who refuses to comment in a nice way about my weight loss. So I feel your pain!!!!! Just don't say shit to them anymore about your weight loss journey, and if they ask, just tell them you are on track according to your surgeon and unless they have a goddamn medical degree in Bariatric Surgery, they need to STFU and mind their own business. Drinking issue

I like to infuse my Water with some cucumber, lemon, and sometimes mint. I have even added a drop or 2 or organic agave nectar to add a hint of sweetness. Soooo good and refreshing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  7. I brought tons of stuff, but honestly, I didnt wear my pj bottoms or use my chapstick, or my phone even. Lol. I was in too much pain from the anesthesia gas. I just woke up every hr and walked the halls to relieve it. They gave me non skid socks which were great. I did bring my abdominal binder to wear for the ride home. But as others have said, something to hold on your belly for when you cough or sneeze is vital. I changed into some comfy clothes the day of discharge and went home amd slept. sleeping on my back on an incline helped me a lot. I was sleeved 7/13, and am just now able to sleep on my side again. Good luck! And don't be afraid to ask for pain meds! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  8. I also have that same exact history, with anorexia and bulemia at age 16. I am 26 now, and have also put on about 120lbs in the past 10 years. I was very honest with my psych, and he did express some concern. He told me that although very rare, patients with a history of anorexia or bulemia can psychologically revert back to that mindset if triggered by massive weight loss, and if the weight doesn't come off quickly enough or if we stall. He required me to go home and really think about it and log some more food in my journal, and return for another appt 2 weeks later. I did, and he told me that he and the surgical team discussed my history and they agreed that my mindset now is stable and I was approved for the surgery. He also told me that if I do happen to start reverting back to those thoughts and tendencies after VSG, that I will need to be hospitalized and treated by a psych. I now am 1 1/2 weeks post op and doing good. I've lost 13lbs so far, and am following all surgeon instructions diligently. So my advice is to be honest with your psych. They are there to help you, and to do what's best for you to succeed. Just emphasize that you are fully capable of making good food choices after surgery. I would suggest writing down all current meals in a paper journal to show. That really helped me. Good luck and stay strong! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  9. I just sneezed the worst sneeze I have ever done, and I cried from the pain it caused!!! I felt like my incision opened up, and I even removed my binder to make sure it didn't. I am now terrified to sneeze again, and I guess I'll just try everything I can not to do it again. I even had a pillow against my tummy for support, and I still felt like I was dying. Wtf. I'M SO HUNGRY!

So my husband ordered me some Isopure UNFLAVORED Protein which came last night, and have since added it to my Water with Crystal light, as well as my chocolate almond milk, and I must say I have been feeling so much better. My surgeon didn't require protein during the liquids only phase either, but once I added the protein, I have felt 100x better this morning. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    I'M SO HUNGRY!

Omg sooo weird!!! I totally feel like this too and I was sleeved on the July 13th too!!! So tomorrow I'll be a week post op. Today I totally was wishing I could just have some cottage cheese and scrambled egg. I can't wait until next week when I'll be able to have soft food! I think maybe it's mostly head hunger since we are still getting used to not chewing and eating everything, so we crave it. I also am not sure if it's actual hunger for me, or just gas. Lol. But it feels like hunger! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Waking up after surgery

I woke up in a lot of pain from anesthesia gas in my chest. They had me laying almost flat, I didn't have an oxygen mask, breathing tube, drain, or catheter. Just an IV. I just remember moaning and cussing each time the nurse would look at me and walk by instead of giving me pain meds. Finally I moaned "F**************CK" loud enough for her to come over and ask what ny pain level was. "Um, it's at like 9 bimbo, thats why I'm moaning!!!!!!!!" Is what I wanted to say. Haha. 16. No, my gas pain is gone finally, but it's still around my large incision. Like I feel like I can't stand up straight or else it pulls. I was planning on going to the VV one today, but my husband suggested I stay home and try to take it easy. So I will definitely be at the next one though. I sneezed today, and I swear it felt like my large incision tore open. I know it didn't, but I stayed home just to be careful. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  17. Ya... phentermine made me drop hellllla weight super fast, and I only was able to keep it off for about 1 month. Lol. I couldn't afford the pills anymore and within like 1 month I had gained all of it back. So I don't mean to sound like a debbie downer, but even though you are losing weight quickly now, there is are big chance you will gain some of it back before the end of your 6 months. Which may be a good thing, to show that you have tried everything. P.s. I really hope this response didn't sound like I'm doubting you or anything. Its just hard to put into words. I wish you all the luck in getting approved!!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

  21. I have the Centrum adult chewables, and the chewable Iron from Celebrate. Those are what my NUT recommended. They are just too sweet for me. 22. I was going to go to the Vacaville Support Group today, but I am still in too much pain to drive, so I'll be going to the next one instead. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App
  23. Ehhh the pills are horrible. They aren't too big though, so I just make sure to wet my tongue first, then place 1 pill as close to the back of my throat as I can, and then sip just enough to get it down. I only do 1 at a time or else they get stuck. My friggin Vitamins are the worst though. They are so gross. And big and chalky and way too sweet. So gross. I am able to drink a bit more now, so I'm not dehydrated anymore. I've been drinking Miso Soup which has helped so much with my Sore throat. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Broth before surgery

My anesthesiologist told me that my throat would be sore from the breathing tube. And boy was she right. It was so sore and dry and painful. They didn't tell me they put a camera down my throat, and they explained things very well to me before and after surgery. So my Sore throat I just feeling better today (4th day post op). My body was making extra phlegm to coat my throat, which drove me crazy, since I had to hawk a bunch of louggies, and cough a lot which hurt my incisions. I was still under anesthesia when they did the leak test, so I don't even remember it. The most pain I had after surgery was from the gas from the anesthesia. So seriously, no matter how shitty you feel after, take all the pain meds and nausea meds they will give you and MAKE SURE YOU WALK!! I walked about 5-10 laps every single hour, and it did help with the gas pains. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App

    Broth before surgery

I only have the 2oz cups. They gave me 1oz cups in the hospital. Honestly, the warm decaf herbal tea they offered me helped the most with my extremely sore throat after surgery. And then room temp water was good too. I only take a small sip of the 1 or 2oz cup, just enough to wet my tongue and allow a tiny bit to roll down the back of my throat. Now that I'm 4 days post-op, I just carry a plastic water bottle with me and take small sips from that. But I can tolerate the cold water now too. I have trouble figuring out exactly how much water I need to swallow my pain meds and protonix. Thats really the only time I feel uncomfortable.
