    Low BMI Questions

I'm a low BMI patient. My BMI was 35 prior to my sleeve. I'm only 3 weeks and have lost 20lbs. My nausea level day 1 was non existent. My pain level day 1 was probably a 3-4. My first stall lasted 48 hours and happened at week 2, my second stall lasted 72 hours and happened at week 3. Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262/SW: 228/CW:210 Surgery date - 6/22/16
  2. Hey everyone! I'm Erin from Illinois! I'm scheduled for surgery in 2 days and have been on my liquid diet for 6 days! I'm excited to get the ball rolling and done with surgery! I'm the momma of 5 girls(first two are twins)and have tried to lose weight with every diet! I've been more successful at educating myself than I have been at permanent weight loss. (HW:262, SW:228, CW:222) I'm one of the patients who chose to go to Mexico for surgery so we fly out tomorrow. My husband is going with me. I've chosen a great doctor and am quite secure in the idea that everything is going to be great! So here we go! If you're having surgery close to the same time I'd love to keep in touch! Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262 SW: 228 CW:222 Surgery date - 6/22/16
  3. I've read of others who hit a stall at 3 weeks. I don't think it's uncommon to hit stalls as your body readjusts to its new size. Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262/SW: 228/CW:215 Surgery date - 6/22/16

    Calling all June '16 sleevers!

I'm almost 2 weeks post op and feeling great! I walked almost 4 miles yesterday after taking a 2 hour nap. It seems I do better when I can sneak in an afternoon nap which is relatively new for me. I'm not able to sleep in like I used to so perhaps I'm just grabbing the extra hour or two I would have if I could sleep in. Or it could be that I'm still recovering and my body needs the middle of the day rest. Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262/SW: 228/CW:215 Surgery date - 6/22/16

Day 8 Pre Op Liquid Diet

In my entire pre op week I only lost 8 pounds. You're doing great! Your body is likely just holding onto weight as it slides into survival mode. Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262 SW: 228 CW:219 Surgery date - 6/22/16

    Surgery in 2 days!

@@JayJuls I totally understand nervousness surrounding having surgery in Mexico. I came to the conclusion when a friend of mine had surgery with the same Doctor and had a great experience. It helped me to know that "if _______ did it and raves about it then it must be ok!" I trusted her and I'm glad I did! My husband came with me as an added source of reason and he felt so safe that he went out on walks to explore when I didn't need him.(not everyone is as adventurous as he is though) I think you need to go with a doctor with a really great reputation and a great care coordinator. The care coordinator really does the logistics work when your there and you need to know that your care coordinator is almost as good as your doc! Surgery in 2 days!

I feel really good. Still working on sipping and learning about this new stomach. I went for a 1 mile walk yesterday and painted my bathroom. My incisions look great! One has a bit of a bruise left but it doesn't hurt. Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262 SW: 228 CW:220 Surgery date - 6/22/16

    Calling all June '16 sleevers!

I had surgery on 6/22 so I guess that puts me 5 days post op! I'm not in as much pain as I expected and I'm tolerating the clear liquid diet. My only real frustration is that I must have retained a lot of Fluid because I've gained 5 pounds since my surgery weight. Anyone else? Researching doctors in Mexico

I just had my surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Illan. I had a great experience and highly recommend Baja Bariatrics. Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262 SW: 228 CW:220 Surgery date - 6/22/16
  24. I just had surgery with dr.illan last Wednesday! You're gonna do great! I was so skeptical when I went and have been pleasantly surprised! I was never in as much pain as I expected, didn't feel unsafe and my energy level is higher than I thought it would be! You're in great hands! Surgery in 2 days!

I made it home and will sleep in my own bed! Yay! I feel great! Truly! I was able to keep up with my normal airport pace and my incision sites feel great! My doctor used stitches on the inside only so I won't even need to have those removed! And the skin is already back together nicely and looks great! I know that there is trepidation regarding the safety of surgery in Tijuana. I felt it from all angles. My mom was worried, my friends concerned etc., but I can tell you that I never once felt like I was in an unsafe situation or uncared for. My patient care coordinator went out of his way to make sure we(both myself and my husband) had everything we needed. It really was much much easier than I ever imagined(and I totally thought the people saying it was easy were lying!) Now onto learning how to use this new sexy stomach of mine. The post op diet gives my stomach a chance to heal as we introduce new types of foods(I'm on Clear liquids now). I'm not even a little bit hungry so I need to keep myself on a schedule to make sure I don't get dehydrated. Please...if you have any questions ask away! I'm an open book and would be happy to do my best to answer! Erin - 35 - illinois HW:262 SW: 228 CW:220 Surgery date - 6/22/16
