SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT
Bama2012 replied to jlofabulous's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I’m doing great been at my goal for what seems like a long time now. I would not know I had gotten anything done except I eat much less food now. Health has been great I take my vitamins everyday and just live now. Good luck with you weight loss and new life. It goes by fast. It may seem slow at first but the weight WILL come off. Let me know if I can help. -
In a blink of an eye you will lose this weight. You are doing fine just keep doing what you are doing and it will come off. I sit back now and cannot even remember losing it. I do remember thinking it’s not coming off fast though in the beginning.

Wish I was losing faster

My experience has been great I do have a 300cm common channel for your reference with the loop DS. Most tradional are between 90-100 I believe. I am down to 187lbs. And staying steady. -
I tell people who ask that I had half my stomach removed and some plumbing re routed. I proceed to tell them that it was the best thing I ever did and I feel 100% better and thanks for asking. If they have anything negative to say I tell them that the surgeon by law cannot sew my mouth shut so I had to settle for half a stomach.

I crave sweets like crazy now and never did before! I have to have a slurpee at least once a week.. -
I felt like I was losing slow as well but it just kept coming off. You will stall every so often as your body adjusts. I thought I would have a ton of loose skin and I do not. I have a little but I am thrilled with the result. I felt like the slower it came off the more my body had time to snap back. Who knows if that is how it works but it will keep coming off. Good luck with the rest of the way. Stay healthy..

You are fine..one day it will be gone and you will wonder where and when it went. Gives your skin and fat deposits to even out too so think of it as a small bonus. If you stick to it you can't not succeed Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I was nervous too as was everyone. I had a great experience so that helped. I will give you one tip ask your surgeon if they plan on using a tap block and if not why not.. easier to look it up on internet if you are not sure what it is. On a pain scale I was expecting a 10/10 I think it was about a 3/10 and that's +2pts feeling guilty it did not hurt. No pain medication after day 2. You will be so happy when it's over.. I thought the no drinking rule was aimed towards the lap band and gastric bypass both that have a smaller pouch that food could slip past. I did not know drinking alone could open the pyloric valve faster to dump food for digestion. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I felt same way.. kept thinking I was stalling then realized it was still coming off just seemed slow. I am happy it was slow now I feel like it gave my skin a chance to bounce back and a better redistribution of fat over all Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
Something that goes down very easy. There are some foods that seem go down very easy and some things like bread and meat for me that don't slide very well.

Normal.. it will last a few weeks you will function but be very tired. Enjoy the ride it gets better and the weight will come off. Before you know it you will have so much energy you won't know what happened. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I am 6.5 months out and I can eat a whole tuna sandwich now but much slower than before. I couldn't eat much for first 5.5 months but now seems like I can get more food in at one time. I just make wiser choices now than before. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I had surgery on 6/8/16 up until recently I had trouble getting Protein and Water in like everyone else. I do much better now the only thing I did notice is that I have lost a lot of muscle mass. I think no matter what I would of lost it anyway because of rapid weight loss. My hair has stopped growing much now and is thinning. I am hoping it will grow again soon. I told everyone I had the surgery because I can't keep food out of my mouth like they can. I do not care what they think. If you are concerned everyone here said it right.. it's your business not theirs. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Everyone on this forum that went through this procedure got through the surgery. I just asked the entire operating room staff if they watched their you tube tutorial last night so they were fresh and ready to go. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

I am not sure it could of gone smoother. Little discomfort timely healing and average weight loss. I followed my surgeons instructions and am very happy with results. Good luck with your journey and hope for a similar experience for you! -

Hi can you please share your vitamin regimen and protein intake daily? Any idea how long your common channel is? Thank you and continued success! -
Many doctors will wait until you can pass gas, walk around and your blood oxygen levels are up before discharge. That is assuming all went well of course. Good luck won't be as bad as you expect.. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
