    Starting to worry

I know some programs allow Soups and other stuff but my surgeon only allows Protein, and after 4 weeks I could add veggies-but I'm focused on just getting my protein in and I just had my 3 month follow up. I am still not hungry so how far post surgery are you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I suffer from chronic migraines which I took Aleve to lighten but after surgery I got a prescription for fioricet and it works wonders Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    water & proteins

Don't feel like a failure- I think a lot of us go through this...feeling the same way but I'm almost 9 weeks post op and I am just now getting my Protein in as far as food only. I'm almost up to 2 ounces of protein at meals now. I did have a terrible time with Protein drinks after surgery because my surgeon wants us to drink Protein shakes in milk to be sure to get dairy. I'm fine drinking 3 glasses of milk each day but adding protein was awful. Way too heavy. But then a friend told me about syntex fuzzy navel protein shakes and oh my god- it is sooooo good! Like others have said, you have to find what you like. My surgeon didn't allow soup- only broth and I loved chicken broth- it's pretty much how I got most of my fluids in the beginning! The focus was fluids at first and to work up to the certain number of grams of protein per day. My appointment with the physiologist at 6 weeks showed my metabolism was higher; however I'd lost some muscle due to the lack of protein my body was can abolishing the lean muscle. It takes time, and I'm finding that now. I am happy to be down 42lbs since the preop diet and I love wearing new clothes. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    In a stall!

I stalled out this past week and I was at week 5. How frustrating to be doing everything right, food, fluids, and exercise but not lose anything all week. Fingers crossed it picks back up this week Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Getting enough Fluids?

I only drank room temp crystal light (fruit punch) for the first 2 weeks post op but now I love, love, love ice Water. All the time. I kept forgetting to drink as well so I would always get in 3 - 8 oz glasses of 1% milk each day and I would set alarms on my phone to remind me to drink Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Got the blues!

I was told that room temp Water is the way to go but now I'm 3 days shy of one month post op and I am drinking cold water at the gym and keep a 24 oz glass of ice and water with me at all times. We are all different so it's really all you can handle. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. I told my team a couple weeks prior to surgery because they knew I'd be out on medical leave for 2-3 weeks and I didn't want to lie. They were all very supportive and seem very excited even now that I'm back to work. It is certainly your choice and it depends on how close you are with those you work with. I work for a major cruise line and while I told all of my team and some others shoreside whom I work closely with, I didn't tell my teams onboard the ships. Only a few good friends who happen to work on the ships. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    losing too fast?

My surgeon told me not to compare myself to anyone else because we are all at different sizes with different levels of activities. I am 27 days post of and have lost 29 lbs ❤️. Congrats on your weight loss and much continued success! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sad

My surgeon requires that we attend monthly group support group sessions- unless we absolutely can't. I went to my first just 2 weeks post op and I loved it. The facilitator allows us (newbies to those 6 months post op) to have a peer q&a session before the surgeon stops in to answer more detailed questions. I loved it. I drag hubby with me and he enjoys it as well. I hope you can find something like this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this and the thing that bothers me the most is that your bariatric surgeon just pushed you off on the GI doc. That's just sickening. I'm glad you seem to be feeling better and yay on that weight loss Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Can you have juices?

I was not allowed juice- not even V8. I got creative on the puréed diet and I'm coming to my second week of soft regular foods and I still sometimes eat puréed instead; just because it's easier to eat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. My surgeon only allowed Protein during the puréed stage. I would have love mashed potatoes but I am not allowed to have it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Migraines anyone?

I agree. They first tried liquid Tylenol in the hospital but sipping medicine is bad enough! Finally they gave me fioricet so I need to visit my pcp and ask him to write a prescription for fioricet for future migraines Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating 9 days post op

Due to my job I deal with a lot of chefs and I know they will send out a good Chilean sea bass with fave Beans (in a small portion) but my plan is to eat off my husbands plate if we go out to dinner. If he orders steak (when I am at that stage of course) then I will take a couple ounces for myself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. I have 3 weeks off. I have an office job but have to carry my laptop and other things around our campus to different meetings all day and it would be too much right away. I am thankful for the three weeks to make sure I have developed good eating and walking habits before jumping back into a job that is very busy and consuming! Pill crushing ?

I haven't needed to crush anything but one of my pills is large and I cut that in half. I also have one for nerve damage/pain and I spoke to the pharmacist and my doctor so it is now written in a liquid/suspended form. They tell me almost everything can be written in a liquid form so check with your pharmacist. Oh, and I had RNY Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm so hungry !

I found chicken and beef broth is so filling and tricks me into believing in consuming something of substance and I also love my SF Popsicles!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating ?

Thank you! I have been reading messages from others eating mashed potatoes and other starches, taking ibuprofen when Tylenol is a substitute and it scares me. I did this for myself. To be healthy and thin and to live longer than I would have. I am only 11 days post op but I am being creative with my puréed foods and not bored at all. I use my 2 servings of milk as my Snacks and as a tool to take my Vitamins and other drugs every day. While I do look forward to the next stage; soft foods I am in no rush to move too quickly. I do not have any cravings so I guess I'm lucky. Well I have one craving. When I see someone with a glass of Coke my mouth waters! I never drank Coke but I guess knowing that my surgeon believes there is a correlation to the bubbles in carbonated drinks possibly expanding the pouch after time - well it makes me not want to touch it. I have 4 good bottles of champagne in my fridge that I am giving away to friends and family. So while this is a huge change, a lifelong change; I was very much aware of it before surgery and I will do everything I can to make new, better, healthier habits. I think I read once that it takes 3 weeks to develop a habit and I am using my 3 weeks of medical leave to develop the best habits I can think of so going back to work is an easier transition . Good luck to you all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. My doctor gave chewable multivitamins and the liquid Vitamins for the first 2 weeks post op because of that very reason. The brand is the vitamins is Celebrate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fever after postop

I also had a low grade fever a few days after surgery and they told me to keep sipping and make sure I'm walking around. Once I started moving more the fever went away. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Migraines anyone?

I had one migraine the day after surgery and they gave me a fioricet and it worked perfectly. I used to take Aleve but all my NSAIDs have been given to my sister so I don't accidentally take something with aspirin in it that could cause problems. I'm a rule follower! However, my migraines are based on the barometric pressure and I'm 10 days post op with no migraines. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
