Dairy allergy....how to get protein?
RNY KAT replied to Dk370's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost almost 6 months out and I am still at 4 oz, if that Sent from my SM-G935P using the BariatricPal App Right, I can only eat 2-3 oz and I still get enough protein from food alone. It's all about the choices of food. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App -
Salad....ever again? If so when?

I was told to wait 10 weeks and ensure you eat the Proteins. I have had 1-2 forkfuls of salad and that is it. I also craved them, however you definitely need to get the ok from the dr since lettuce can be hard to digest. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App -

If you are 10 months out, all you need to do is increase your food Proteins. Fish, meats, Beans, etc. I despise milk and won't drink it anyway. I would think fish would be the best lean proteins. I am only 2 months out and can only eat maybe 3 oz of food at each meal, if that, and get plenty of Protein each day without supplementing with protein shakes. I only eat 0.5 of a Protein Bar a day, and sometimes I forget that. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App -

Like I said before, I am 3 months out and STILL have never eaten Pasta. I want to try Quest pasta because it has 0 grams net carbs and a good amount of Protein, but I wouldn't try it until much closer to my goal. I wouldn't ever suggest regular pasta, and definitely not before you are at a comfortable weight. You should avoid "trigger" foods because even though it will be hard to avoid, trying to eat a small amount to give you satisfaction has been proven to make it much harder because your body will crave it more. Also, I had to do 2 weeks of liquids, 2 weeks of pureed, 2 weeks soft foods, then I could slowly introduce other foods. However, I was told no lettuce (salads) until 10 weeks out. Check out theworldaccordingtoeggface.com for some awesome recipes at every stage, although the beginning stages are limited bc you are limited on what you can eat. Good luck y'all. You can eventually have .5-1 glass of wine, but no hard liquor bc it goes into your blood stream a lot quicker (or something like that) since it doesn't just sit in your stomach. However, that is way down the road. I am 3 months post op and have tried a 1/2 glass and did fine, but I also got the OK from my Dr first. Soda can make your stomach stretch bc of the carbonation and give you bad gas. Also, sugar content is bad anyway. Good luck, it gets a lot easier! Sent from my SM-N910P using BariatricPal mobile app

I didn't puree it. I just chew it very good. I know, bad, but it really is almost liquid before I swallow. I am back today for the first time actually, so a day less than 3 weeks. It went by fast though! I just worked on school work all day and healing. I also walk everyday now. I know it's not much, but it's something! Any good ideas for pureed you have for me? Bc yogurt and cottage cheese will not cut it for 2 weeks, haha. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

Yeah, it's not fun, but I know it will end, haha. I go monthly (even before surgery). The soft foods I'll be happy about since I can eat fish and everything. pureed just kind of grosses me out. I eat a lot of cottage cheese, haha. Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

I was at the same facility, but with the new surgeon (Dr. Nirujogi). I started pureed this past Wednesday. Do you ever go to the support group meetings there? Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

I can drink faster than I think I should. I normally only drink Water though. Actually, I live halfway between Cincinnati and Lexington, however 2 days a week I work in Delhi, OH. So far I have only tried pureed chicken salad and fat free refried Beans. Both tasted bad. I probably need to make smoothies, but they want us to just puree meats for now. This weekend I am trying salmon and scallops. Hopefully those will be better! Really, the only challenge is finding foods I'll like, but in soft foods I'll be happy, so only 2 weeks. I can do that Sent from my SM-N910P using the BariatricPal App

Of course! Would be good to keep in touch with someone who knows I am 15 days out and just started pureed food yesterday. What part of OH?
