You know you are doing something right

I am only 5.5 mths post op, but I have a couple of friends watching and listening to my experience. Showing by example is much better than just telling someone about it. Glad your friends are asking you.
  2. That shouldn't be a problem for March. You could even do it sooner if you wanted. I began a kitchen remodel on day 4 after surgery. I didn't do the work, but juggled many workers in and out of my small place all day long. They were done after 2 weeks and I was fine to get kitchen set up again. Just carried a few items at a time from what I had to pack away. No lifting heavy boxes.

    Great advice from Dr

I weigh everyday because it keeps me accountable and I don't get bothered if it doesn't go down. I do like the idea of trying on smaller pants weekly. I bought a pair of jeans 3 years ago and could never fit in them. Way way too small. Anyway I tried them on a couple of weeks ago and much to my surprise, not only did they pull up easily, they zipped and buttoned easily! I wore them out and they were a little baggie when I got home. Now I try on pants, shirts, rings and bracelets once a week. So much fun!

    Wasting food

I am happy that I love leftovers! However, when dining at friends homes, even though I ask for a small portion, they still give me the same size serving as everyone else. I've decided if that makes them comfortable, then fine, the food can go to waste.

    Comforts?

Do you have a single brother by chance? :-)
  6. Lettuce is considered a raw vegetable, so when your plan allows them, you can eat a salad. It was 6 weeks for me. However, with so little space for food, after having protein, a couple of small bites of salad is all I have room for. I didn't have a dry mouth after the first day so can't help there.
  7. Take a deep breath. You really need to work at getting fluids in and then your protein. If you can't meet those goals, moving to purees won't help. Your stomach is very swollen so try to work with it and not against it. The hunger may be driven by excess acid and you can address this with your surgeon. The surgery will work as long as you do your part.

    Out of pocket expense

You probably will when you go for pre surgery appt. at facility. Forgot that I also had the anesthesiologist office call me the day before surgery and ask if I had met my deductible. Since I had not, they needed a $200 deposit. Everybody wants to make sure they get paid I guess.

    Soft food stage

I wasn't given volumes except for protein and water. However, I remember just a few bites were enough at that stage. Once on solids, my average is 7-10 bites. My surgeon is good with that. I am 5.5 mths out.

    Must wait?!?!?

Friday will be here before you know it. But, this is a great time to begin taking your focus off food. Find something else that you will also do on Friday. Everytime you find that food is in charge, make yourself do something you've never done and think you will enjoy. And when Friday gets here, after eating your Protein first, you won't have much room for veggies. But enjoy the bit you get.

    Out of pocket expense

I am in Texas and the hospital told me that when I went for my presurgery appt the week before surgery. Then they called the day before surgery and I gave them my credit card info. It may be the policy of the facility and not insurance. They did tell me they had called insurance to get my deductible and maximum out of pocket expenses.

    Out of pocket expense

I had to pay the hospital what insurance didn't cover up to my annual maximum amount the day before surgery.
  13. Glad all went well. And, it probably won't take 6 mths to say that, probably 6 days! It really does get better every day of the healing phase.

    6 month follow-up visit

Great news @@ShelterDog64, my bariatric twin! I had my checkup last week and labs were great. Both my surgeon and primary care doc were impressed. Sure made me happy! 5.5 mths and down 74 lbs!
  15. I had my sleeve at age 58 5 mths ago. No problems on this journey so far. Had blood work done last week and it all came back great. I have also cut my BP meds in half, am no longer prediabetic and feel great. I take vitamins everyday and doing so is a great tradeoff for getting healthier. Oh, and there is no malabsorption with the sleeve.

    Estimate

It really is all individual. Your surgeon at appt could give you his best estimate knowing your starting point, personal history, and family history.

    Net Carbs or Total Carbs

    Net carbs for me.

How do you define a stall?

For me I define a stall as no weightloss for a period of 7 day. Most of them have lasted 10-14 days.
  19. Is this the first time you have seen your surgeon since surgery? Have you been provided any guidelines other than watch your carbs? I was sleeved the same month and I have seen surgeon 4 times and was given food plan guidelines. You may need to find a nutritionist to help you with planning. And don't be afraid to eat real food. Especially now that you are 5.5 mths out. Take small bites of small Protein and eat slowly. I have never gotten sick and began solids at 5 weeks. Eating soup at lunch sometimes is ok, just depends on what else you are eating.
  20. I wish I had know how easy surgery and recovery was going to be. And that I would feel so great with lots of energy after losing the first 20 lbs or so. @@LittleBill I like protein shakes too. Ha!

    I don't want to weigh!

It is totally up to you. If you get bothered by the scale do t do it. I weigh but my true joy and feeling of success comes with smaller clothes and how good I feel.
  22. So glad you have the support of your son and that he is traveling with you. Welcome to Texas and praying all goes well.
