Shouldn't I feel more sick?
suzzzzz replied to brennafaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many of us have never felt sick. That is a good thing! Don't borrow trouble where there is none. -
Deli Large Mozzarella Balls
suzzzzz replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, weigh it. Saying a large mozzarella ball doesn't provide a good enough perspective to determine calories or protein. -
Deli Large Mozzarella Balls

Being cheese, weigh it then look it up. Cheese is usually measured by the oz. -
I treat soup as a meal now, especially not being a clear broth.

How many calories do you eat on average as post-op?
suzzzzz replied to sasharbinx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are given Protein and Water goals at first because that is where the focus needs to be. Calories can be made up of numerous things that won't help healing and losing. Many people would be very creative with such latitude. Once on solid foods, my surgeon said 800 - 1000 calories if I wanted to count them. At 6 mths out I still focus on protein and the calories fall into place at about 800 -900 a day. -
Mashed potatoes? Carbs?
suzzzzz replied to sleeved.tekee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mashed potatoes were allowed on my soft food stage. Don't worry about carbs so early out because you aren't eating much at all. Only have protein and water goals from the doctor. -
Confession: I drink soda. Anyone else?
suzzzzz replied to ella37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't tried diet coke yet because I am sure I will begin having it for breakfast again. I am doing fine without it. I have taken several trips and there isn't much to choose from on the plane that isn't soda, juice or liquor. That is when I want one. -
1st day of head hunger
suzzzzz replied to lkcnewbeginnings's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When my head wants to eat, I get a glass of water first. It usually takes care of it. Who would have thought water would do that? Things are changing mentally as well as physically. -
Bridesmaids Dress
suzzzzz replied to victoria.hudson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree that you will guessing at this point. Also depends on style of dress. There are some online weight loss calculators you can search for to give you an estimate of how much you may lose or will weigh by wedding time. Perhaps the gown fitters could help you determine the size to order from that. -
Need Dr Recommendations in Dallas PLEASE
suzzzzz replied to jbaker5d's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I went with Dr. Fox and have never felt judged by him. I like the small office and personalized treatment. He is an excellent surgeon and has personal discussions at my followups, even called me at home 2 days after surgery. A consultation couldn't hurt. -
Can't tell weight coming off
suzzzzz replied to nikki0910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Visualization helps too. Picture a person of the size you have as a goal. Start with a picture from a magazine or an old picture of yourself. Look at the picture and then close your eyes and see it in your mind. Repeat everyday. -

2 Weeks Post Op Stomach Pain
suzzzzz replied to sill21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many people develop an intolerance after surgery. My surgeon said it can be temporary or permanent. Maybe try another protein shake with different ingredients to see if it still happens. -
It is best to follow your surgeons plan. Do they allow other things? Sounds like full liquids stage and that was it for me.

2 Weeks Post Op Stomach Pain
suzzzzz replied to sill21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lactose intolerant perhaps? -
It is essential you get your liquids and protein in for both healing and weightloss. I'd back off on the exercise until you can get more protein to support it. Check with your surgeons office for direction on not getting sick. Eating slowly and having tiny bites has worked for me.

So, I don't know a single person who does want their hair to fall out. There is not much you can do about that. However, you can make yourself get in the liquids and protein that your doctor requires right now. Sometimes we just have to do things we don't like, but it is for a short period of time. Being a picky eater won't lead to long term malnutrition and hopefully that will help you make healthy choices. One more thing, let the worry go. This is a complete lifestyle change now and not a diet. Your journey will be much more pleasant if you don't worry thru it.

Chia seeds or hemp hearts
suzzzzz replied to Lucky2Lose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The seeds pose a big risk of getting caught in your staple line. Wait a while longer on that. I don't know what hemp hearts are. -
My surgeon said to only take iron if needed. B12 is on his list to take after surgery along with a bcomplex. Recent bloodwork for me showed I could cut back on b12 and don't need iron still. And, I do think the b12 helped me get my strength back after surgery.

Can't tell weight coming off
suzzzzz replied to nikki0910's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is pretty normal. It takes time for us to change our image of what we think we look like. -
What foods 1 month after surgery
suzzzzz replied to gg2016's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on soft foods at 4 weeks. Tuna salad, chicken salad, baked potato, ground beef, deli turkey. -
I don't eat any kind of bread because it takes up too much space in my sleeve. If it is on your plan you have to decide if it is worth it.

Question about tomato soup?
suzzzzz replied to Coachthex32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes. Just make sure it doesn't have bits of tomato skin.
