Stuggling with clear liquid phase
suzzzzz replied to AlexandraStJames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids for a week but got to add protien shakes on day 2. They help a lot. There are also some protien waters that can help as well as adding unflavored protien powders to your liquids. Getting in protien is essential to feeling better and healing. Hope you feel better soon. -
Just worried, since I will still have my pre surgery stomach and just be on liquids? Do they fill you enough?Sent from my SM-T800 using the BariatricPal App Liquid diets are not ideal but depending on what kind of liquids you can be creative and stay pretty full. Protien drinks and smoothies made me feel full pre surgery. If you get hungry have another one. Thicker Soups like tomato, potato, chowder, etc help too. First few days are the hardest. Sounds like a lot more fun being on vacation than my living room. Make the most of it.

Vacation was picked in January but I am guessing your surgery date wasnt. You must have thought about some before. You will be fine if you are making an important commitment to yourself. You can do it! However, if you dont think you can, then postpone the surgery to accommodate the trip. No need to be miserable.

Late June Sleeve Buddies?
suzzzzz replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@shelterdogs64. I am amazed you are off blood pressure meds so soon. That is great! I figured it will take losing a lot of weight before that happens. I see my surgeon next week as he is on vacation this week and I will ask how he expects that to work for me. I have been monitoring mine at home and the top number has decreased but not the bottom one. -

Late June Sleeve Buddies?

question for you guys a couple of weeks out - i gained so much weight while IN the hospital for the sleeve. they said it was just the IV fluids they pump you full of, but I went up 7 lbs over that 24 hrs. I'm now 3 days post-op and still havent lost it. I still have 2 more lbs to lose to reach my starting point. so frustrating. Don't start your journey being frustrated at something you have no control over. You didn't do anything to gain that weight. Your body will release it when it no longer needs it. I think it was 5 days before I lost what I gained and now the real weight is coming off. I am 12 days post and very happy with things so far! -

You didn't cheat. We are all learning our boundaries. The other day when I ate too much tomato soup I felt like I could pop. I felt bad and hope to not do that again. I didn't have more than what guidelines said, but I had more than what my sleeve said. I just didn't listen. Sorry to hear about your leg. Glad it wasn't a blood clot and hope it gets better soon. -

Hi everyone. Well I can't believe I will be day 9 tomorrow! Have been able to get in liquids and protein in from the start. Have not had any changes to my taste buds and have lost 8 lbs. I am still swollen and have a huge bruise on my lower right stomach that had me little worried, but doctor said it was likely from the blood thinner shot they gave me in the hospital before they discharged me. Today I had some tomato soup and it filled me up quickly. Had to stop after a few oz. Was so full and stayed that way for 3 hrs. Took me a minute to realize I needed to stop eating. Good lesson to pay attention to my body. That is my update! -

Only in the sense that I am excited the surgery is behind me, I am thrilled for what the future holds, and I can't wait to have a new fun wardrobe. Don't focus on what you can't do. Remember why you had the surgery. Write down or say three things everyday you are grateful for. Gratitude helps change feeling down. Just try it. -
4 days out - liquid diet help
suzzzzz replied to Red_lips_and_confidence's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just sip slowly all day. If the jello felt uncomfortable, try again in a few days. As long as you are getting your protien and liquids you are good. You won't stretch your stomach. -
I took meds beginning day after surgery. One is fairly large and I had no problems.

I am doing protien shakes. Premier has 30 grams of protien so I have 2 a day. I also have some EAS brand and they are good and not quite as thick. Both of those are 11 oz. The protien waters I have don't give as much bang for the buck. -

I started noticing water was easier to get down on day 4. I am on day 7 and caught myself taking a swig but it went down. I could feel it but no pain. I am supposed to get between 40 and 60 grams of protien and 60 ozs of funds for 1st 2 weeks. Just sip sip sip. You do not want to get dehydrated. You can do it. -

Secret Sleeve & Recovery Time?

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Your body will heal faster if you are able to rest periodically. Take some extra time if you can as it will be worth it in the long run, -

Two people at work had a pain button and were getting morphine. I had the sleeve and hernia also. I didn't get a pain button or morphine. I got IV pain meds. Dilauden I wonder why? If you are getting gas in the shoulder its Phrenic nerve pain and can be relieved with warm tea or warm drinks and a warm shower. It can come and go for about 5 weeks. Happens when we drink and eat now as it forces that gas back up. So weird. I can relieve mine now with the tea, the showers or the heating pad. Jealous of your pill swallowing. I would love to get to do that. My surgeon said I have to crush for at least 6 weeks. Apple sauce and pills mmmmm I'll never look at applesauce the same way after this lol It is interesting how each surgeon seems to have a different plan for preop, pain meds, and post op plans. Speaking of applesauce, I get to add that to my diet today for first time, but I have taken whole pills since day one. :-) I have not been good about walking as it is so hot here. Have to drive to store or mall which takes longer than I walk BUT I am going to make myself do it. Any other suggestions for light exercise or movement? -

Brilliant minds think alike! I had my pedi yesterday So what kind of creamed soups are you having? I could use suggestions. I can have those too. Are you doing bariatric soups, something you are making home made or from the store. I am not a fan of creamed soups but might like yours! lol Brilliant minds indeed! Today I am going to have the country potato Soup from LA Madeline. Love it. Am also going to store to get a roasted red pepper tomato soup by pacific ? Can't think of second word but they come in a cardboard box. -

Save the jello until you have gotten lots of liquids in. A few bites of jello filled me up too. -

I am Day 6 and am getting hungry too Maggie. HaVing less than 300-400 calories a day will do that to you!. I get to add thin cream Soups today and can't wait. After having lots of energy the past 2 days, I am feeling more tired today. Going to get a chair massage and pedicure. This is a great time to pamper ourselves! -
Butter chicken after gastric sleeve
suzzzzz replied to SammyVP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's an Indian recipe. Here, this is the definition that I found on Wikipedia: Butter chicken or murgh makhani (Hindi: मुर्ग़ मक्खनी) (pronounced [mʊrg məkʰaːniː]) is an Indian dish[4] of chicken in a mildly spiced curry sauce. It is served in India and abroad. The dish has its roots in Punjabi cuisine and was developed by the Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi, India.[5] Thanks for the info. Don't think that is my cup of tea and probably why I never heard of it. -

To help with the desire to chew, my NUT suggest chewing on some jerky and then spitting it out. I have never had jerky so not itching to try that yet.
