  1. San Francisco probably has some sightseeing tours where you can stay on the bus the whole time or if you feel like it get off at stops you are interested in. I hope to get to Australia one day. Will probably have to go for a month to see it all! Good luck with surgery and recovery.
  2. Wow. What a long way to come for surgery! I had a good recovery that included a lot of energy and a little tiredness every afternoon. I even had a kithen remodel start on day 4 that lasted 2 weeks. Lots of noise, dust, and workers in my condo, but was worth it in the end. You should be up and walking and incorporate that in with some sightseeing if you aren't having pain and nausea. San Francisco has so much to experience, just don't over do it.
  3. For years I have had a protien shake for breakfast because I could drink it in the car. Easy. However I am going to try the egg muffins that appanda posted. I also have had Atkins protien bars for years. I personally like the chocolate Peanut Butter and they are approved by my surgeon for lifetime plan. Don't worry about messing up. That is part of life. Just plan ahead, eat slowly with small bites and visualize your life as you move towards your goal.
  4. Did you feel that way when released from hospital? It may be gas pain and walking and heating pad will help. But, if you are in that much pain, call your doctor because it should not be so bad that meds won't help.

    4weeks post op

Sounds normal to me. Why do you think you are doing something wrong?

    Feeling of being "FULL"

I am also 5 weeks out and 1/3 cup is the most I can manage at this time. My doctor said our capacity will continue to increase as we heal. Said I will end up with 2/3 cup capacity. Stop eating before you feel uncomfortable, maybe 2 bites less and see how you feel.
  7. I had a stall that only lasted 5 days and since the scale moves about .5 lb every other day. Try changing your routine up a little. Move in different ways and drinks lots and lots of water. Hopefully the loss will show on scale again soon.
  8. Also check your blood pressure. If you are on meds they may need adjusting.

    6 months out. Calories, carbs?

My surgeon said 800 - 1000 calories after healing and during weight loss phase. Supposed to limit carbs and no sugar. There is no number but my own goals is 20 - 40 a day.

    Weight gain

Losing 27 pounds in 3 weeks is a huge amount. Your body is adjusting. It doesn't distinguish between preop and post op. It is just working on healing. The weight will come off if you do your part too.
  11. Fluid goes right through your sleeve so it's not likely you'd feel full. I'm sure all is good with your sleeve! Sent from my KFFOWI using the BariatricPal App Once you add cream Soups, you will feel full quickly. Just eat slowly. Each stage brings new foods that are thicker and denser. You will feel your sleeve at some point.
  12. Weightloss comes from a team effort with our sleeves, so there really isn't an "it" that will work or not work. You have lost a great deal of weight so far. I know we separate pre op from post op loss but our bodies just know it as weightloss. Our bodies are working hard in multiple ways. You will get there.
  13. Depends on what your surgeon's plan says, not necessarily how good you feel. Your insides need time to heal.

    Purging your clothing

If something is too big and baggy, let it go. Your focus is on the future!
  15. Your body is adjusting g from a loss of 17 pounds in one week. That is huge. Just stick to your plan and realize this is a journey, not a sprint. Don't advance your stages just because you feel fine. Your stomach is healing on the inside and doesn't need the extra work to digest foods it may not be ready for.
  16. I live alone and had a friend bring me home from hospital. I didn't need anyone once at home but had friends lined up to help in case I had a complication. I would have your mom bring you home and stay the first night. Not sure if you are planning on taking care of the farm animals, but if so, that may prove difficult.
  17. Banana is on my list for purees. I would wait.

    Starting Mushies

I have not had nausea or my taste buds change, but wanted to let you know the soft food stage is fun. My surgeon said that eating or drinking too fast or too much at a time is the primary reason for nausea after the first few days. So, maybe slow down and make sure bites are larger than a dime. Hopefully your taste buds will be normal again soon.

    Cravings

While our stomachs are healing our diets are in stages so the stomach doesn't have to work hard to digest. Minimal churning is important. So, just because we can eat something that doesn't affect us negatively, we don't know what is happening on the inside. Just wanted to share that. I've been on the soft stage since last thursday and it is sooooo much better. We get real food, just not the hard things to digest!

    Only 1oz on purée?

Spread your requirement out over 30 minutes. Take in only what you can. As you stomach swelling goes down, you will be able to have more.
  21. My week 4 is soft foods, but I wasn't given any measurements to adhere to in puree, just to go slow, pay attention and stop when satisfied, not full. As our swelling goes down we get a little bit more room. I am up to 7-8 small bites now.
  22. I am having fun on the soft foods stage. Had a chicken sour cream enchilada without tortilla, meatballs in a very light gravy, banana, guacomole, topping from nachos, and I have so much more to try. Have company visiting for weekend and eating out lunch and dinners. Protien shake in morning and afternoon. @@Maggie143 hope you are feeling better and hope to hear from you soon!
  23. My surgeon said that my portion size will be about 3/4 cup when all healing is done. Don't have any other portion sizes except for liquids. Have been eating all other foods with small bites, chewing well and going slow until I feel satisfied, but not for more than 30 minutes. Am 3.5 weeks out.

    Dreading the Nausea!

No nausea at all. Also had the anti nausea patch and it works for 3 days. I think that is what helped me because I have always had nausea from surgery. I am 3.5 weeks out and still no nausea. I hope to keep it that way!
  25. Set a timer for every 15 minutes or so and drink. Set an alarm for eating. I am 3 weeks out and have no desire for anything so I have to make myself too.
