  1. Hello you crazy people! You are all doing so well. I haven't checked in as I still am not myself and not even back to work yet! I thought after all this time I would be feeling better but still can only stomach a few bites at a time and feel awful for hours after. Don't want to discourage anyone as my situation is unusual and not what most people will be experiencing. Waiting to feel good again so I can add something constructive too! Glad you all are doing so well and I'm proud to see all of you progressing like rock stars! Keep up the good work and sending me those positive vibes xo So good to hear from you. Don't worry about discouraging us, you are the one having a rough go of it. We wouldn't have this thread to share with each other if you hadn't started it. Thanks for responding as it is good to know you are doing a little better. Sending good healing vibes your way.
  2. I am 2 mths out and right now I have 2 protein shakes and 2 meals a day. No room for anything else. My plan says my ultimate goal will be 3 meals a day and one protein shake if i need it to meet protein goal of 60 -70 grms a day. My surgeon discourages snacks as it can become grazing.
  3. The main emphasis should be on getting in all of your protein and liquids. Doesn't look like too much food per se, but are you making your goals? Drinking so much liquid doesn't allow me to have room or time to eat that often.

    Light headed / dizzy

Not good to just stop taking your medication. Call your doctor first and see what they say.

    Completely Undecided.

I thought I wanted the bypass but my surgeon highly suggested the sleeve. I was 58 with high blood pressure as only health issue. I wasn't totally convinced I could lose all the excess weight with the sleeve but surgeon was. He also said if I have issues with bypass there is no other surgery, but the sleeve can be converted to bypass down the road if necessary. I am very pleased at 2 mths out and feel like I am leading a normal. I am semi active and did not formally exercise before surgery. I am now though.
  6. My goals are 60 oz of protein and 64oz. liquids, not calories. At 8 weeks out, I still don't count calories but can guess I have between 600 to 800 a day. As my food intake capacity increases from current 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup, my surgeon said my calorie goal will be 1000.

    5 month anniversay

    That is amazing. Congrats!

    Really Regretting it.

Evidently your stomach isn't ready for those foods. Get back to clear liquids, sip slowly and get in liquids and protein.

    6 days post op!

I was allowed protien shakes starting day 3. Being on clear liquids, you stil, need protien to gain strength and heal. There are lots of protiensto try that you can add to broth, juice, sf liquids, and premade such as isopure and Atkins lift. Your body is right to be craving nutrition.

    You can do it!

Congrats! Your smile says it all!
  11. I also had a hernia repair and only felt a bit of pressure, ot pain. Try Taki g smaller sip very slowly. And please sip all day so you don't get dehydrated. Might be a good idea to call your doc too.
  12. Thanks. I like that idea. I get having a stall, just didn't expect to do that dance for 2 weeks solid. And, I am happy to report another 1/2 down which takes me to 40 lbs lost in 2 mths. I am happy with my progress and so grateful that I don't feel deprived. I need some of that lobster to celebrate!
  13. @@Maggie143 checking to see how you are doing. Hope you are on the mend and can join us here again soon.
  14. After 14 days of up down up down, do I dare trust the brand new 1/2 lb loss my scale showed this morning? Think I am going to see if it is real on tomorrow's episode of "Days in our lives of weight loss...." @@magoosmom - glad you had that ride last week. I bet you feel great!

    Craving

I well remember wanting to chew something. Try sugar free popsicles. They help a little. Otherwise, just know this time will pass. A small blip in the larger journey.

    Any suggestions?

Did your surgeon tell you to not swallow it whole? I was instructed to swallow as normal beginning the day after surgery and didn't have any problems. If you can't do that, put it applesauce.

    Feeling tired.

I went thru too. Am 8 weeks out and the sleepiness is better. Just another way our bodies are healing.
  18. I don't think any of us loved the liquids stage but it is part of the healing process. Doctors plans are important to follow to avoid a serious complication. It is a very small part of this life long journey. Please don't advance your diet without talking with your surgeon first.
  19. ROFL as that is so true about being stuck. I am doing the same dance and so want to get to 40 pounds lost. Closest I've gotten is 39! I am sure it is harder while traveling, but i have no doubt you will do well. Have fun with the move. A bit sad and exciting at the same time I am sure.
  20. Still in stall. Upped protein, liquids, and calories but no change yet. Will increase exercise soon. Didn't want to make all changes at once. This too shall pass and I will celebrate!

    Eating out on stage 3

Personally, I wouldn't take my own food into a restaurant, unless it was a Protein shake. You can always order soup and enjoy that. Since you can't consume much, it won't really matter. I've heard of wls patients being allowed to pay child's price for a buffet, but I doubt they will allow you in with your own food. I am curious though how it works out.
  22. I too got more fatigued around 3 weeks. However, I did take naps! I think I started feeling stronger around 6-7 weeks. Being on solid food for a couple of weeks probably helped.
  23. You are causing yourself undue stress which won't help your body heal and lose. I know you know the surgery isn't magical. Losing the weight is a partnership between us and the surgery. If we do our part, the surgery will help us as the tool it is meant to be. Relax, follow your doctor's plan and focus on this journey. I am 8 weeks out and on my second stall which has now been 10 days. Do I want to get frustrated? Yes. Do i wish the stall was over? Yes. Do I truly believe that I won't lose weight ingesting as little food as I do? No. Our bodies are very fine tuned machines and are going to do what is best for them. We can only support that by doing the best we can and more. We are all in this boat together. Don't stress yourself out. It won't help you.

    2 weeks post op

I think you may find it difficult to find many here that will tell you to not follow your doctor's plan. Some will, but I think it is reasonable to believe they don't have a medical degree and know nothing about you. Call your doctor and ask if you can add something else. They may say yes. If they say no, well, it is only week out of the rest of your life.
  25. Add some sugar free popsicles and jello. Some texture helps.
