I know I know don't weigh. Just curious ...
suzzzzz replied to laura1116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not experienced steady weight loss and am 4 mths out. I just roll with it because there is no need to add stress by worrying. We can't control our bodies but we can control what we put it them. -

suzzzzz replied to nsunga's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does your surgeon say? I did not have that pain. -
Past life drive through foods...eye opener!
suzzzzz replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It was McDonald's double cheeseburgers for me. And, they were only $1 most of the time! I was recently on a road trip and stopped at McDonald's to use the bathroom. When I opened the door, the smell of grease was overwhelming and I couldn't get out of their fast enough. -
Keto is basically low carb. Under 20 carbs a day. You may not have to go that low to lose weight. And in the first few weeks you should only focus on protein and liquid goals.

I had tomato basic and country potato soups from LA Madeline. Had to strain the small solid bits out.

Can eat 4oz with no problem!
suzzzzz replied to mallnut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes they are different. My comment was based on the puree stage which I found didn't matter with how I measured. Solids are a different story. -
2 weeks post VGS, I had a premier protein and felt quite ill after, is it too soon?
suzzzzz replied to LittleLizzieLilliput's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one on day 3. No issues. -
@@KristenLe So glad you are home and sorry you experienced so much nausea. Chewbacca may be in your stomach for a while. I find myself talking at times when mine just keeps making noise. Onward!

My surgeon said asparagus tips are best due to the stem being stringy.

Grazing in the beginning?
suzzzzz replied to rolosmom7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is hard to get protein in however supplement with protein shames, powders, waters, etc. It is nearly impossible to reach goals with food alone. And, as has been mentioned, stop eating after 30 minutes. Eating on a meatball for 2 hrs is grazing and doesn't help much protein wise. -
Grazing in the beginning?
suzzzzz replied to rolosmom7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may take more than 3 meals to get everything in however, eating on one thing longer than a 30 minute time period is grazing. I have a shake for bkfst, lunch, snack of protein in afternoon on some days, and dinner. Food goes away from me after 30 minutes if I have not finished it. I manage to get all liquids in and meet protein goals at almost 4 mt. -
Stuck and frustrated!
suzzzzz replied to nwheeler3573's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is healing and changing. Stalls happen. There will be many along the way. Let your body do what it needs to do and you do your part with meeting protein and liquid goals. Excess frustration won't help you. -
Late June Sleeve Buddies?
suzzzzz replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still can't get myself to put canned tuna in my mouth, and it was one of my very favorite foods pre-op! And the exercise...it's hard to be motivated in the fall in the PNW. It's raining daily right now. Until yesterday we still were in the 90s! Even in Texas the weather is all screwed up but cooler air in 70s and low 80s is now here. That will help get me out walking more. -
Late June Sleeve Buddies?
suzzzzz replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I eat about 6 to 8 bites the size of a nickel. Chicken feels me up more than tuna or ground beef. And, my exercise is lacking... same pattern for me that I need to work on. I seem to exercise a couple of weeks, then stop, then start, then stop........ sigh. -
Can eat 4oz with no problem!
suzzzzz replied to mallnut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never did puree meat as it sounds unappealing. Mostly did soups with veggies in blender. It doesn't matter if you measure or weigh. -

I am sure your loss is great for you. A loss of 45 lbs out of 80 total is a lot! So many things factor into weightloss, and we have no control over many of them. -
The scale finally moved

Our bodies have their individual ways to lose weight. Can't predict what that is so just continue to stick to your plan. -

@@magoosmom Happy Belated Birthday. Nice update! I just hit the 60 lb. gone mark and I am very happy. I have not had issues with any food or drink and am grateful for that. My wardrobe is now things that were too small and I am excited to see and feel this inches come off. Still eating lots of popsicles. I guess if that is my new addiction, I am making progress mentally too! Life is good! -
I will be 4 mths out tomorrow and I just noticed a couple of days ago that I am shedding a lot more. Having fine, thin hair, sure hope it doesn't last long.

Help when do I know when I'm slightly full?
suzzzzz replied to facebro29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stick to whatever measurements you have. During the healing process it is hard to know when you should stop because the swelling will continue to change. Once on solid foods you begin to listen to your body more and you will know. I always want one more bite but after taking that one more bite twice now, I hope I don't do it again. I felt so full and uncomfortable. This is a learning process for us all. -
OMG. I hit the 60 lb gone mark today! 4 days before my 4 mth surgiversary.

My current food is sugar free popsicles. It takes work and time to change lifelong habits. We can do this. You can do this.

Switching surgery teams post op

I only met with nutritionist before surgery and to me my surgeon is most important. Can you stay with surgeon and use different nutritionist outside the practice if you need to? -
I have shared my surgery with pretty much everyone who I interact on a regular basis. I did it in a way that I made this decision and I hope they will support me but not be my judge and jury. No one has policed me and I have great acceptance that I make my own decisions. To original OP, if you are good with your sister doing that, wonderful. We all need help and support and it takes a long time to change lifelong habits.
