  1. Sugar free popsicles were a great help to me with the wanting to chew. Definitely stick to your plan because it is not worth the risk of a serious complication. Visualize your stomach all swollen and held together with staples if you have to. It needs some TLC right now! It does get better. This is just a tiny bit of time.
  2. Yes, I see that upon reading. Doesn't change my friend's experience To OP, I hope the revision works well for you.

    Newbie here

My soft food plan included ground beef, deli turkey, shredded chicken, avocado, soft cooked veggies, eggs, and more but I can't remember. :-)
  4. I am curious also what they think they can do with a resleeve if it was done correctly. I have a very dear friend who also had a sleeve and never felt restriction. She was eating and drinking properly. After about 2 years, she got a revision to RNY. She has lost all the weight and has maintained for 2 years now. I discussed her story with my surgeon at first consultation and he said it is rare when the sleeve doesn't provide restriction but it happens. He still convinced me to go the sleeve route.
  5. The lines of the stages are a little blurred. For me when I got to full solids, I added some more veggies, pork, grilled chicken, beef other than ground, and denser fruit.
  6. What phase are you in? The puree phase allows foods like refried Beans, yoghurt, hummus, ricotta bake and mkre. Once you are on solid foods you can have that bowl but leave out the rice if there is any. The thing is though, yo will likely only be able to have a few bites and it may not be as enjoyable as you remember. For me, when I was able to have some favorites again, I was like "hmmm, not like I remember. Not sure I like this anymore."

    Seriously?

This is a section of the forum called rants and raves and that is the purpose of @@ShelterDog64 post. This is a forum for online support. We all are interested in what others are doing or why would we even be here. For me, I want to learn from others and hopefully others will learn from me. And, Letting someone have their own experience can be dangerous at times. Support in a form to guide someone to better eating behaviors is a good thing. Not following your surgeons plan can be life threatening.

    Am I going backwards?

It is great you are aware and want to change your habit. Eating on a schedule does help so you don't get into a habit of grazing with a sleeve. You can also find other things to do when a craving hits such as cleaning out a closet, trying on smaller clothes, playing a game, etc. We can retrain our minds, just takes some work.

    41 days in

What else have you tried? My first soft food was very thin mashed potatoes and 1 or 2 bites was enough. If you are having trouble with soft foods, stick with what works for a few days and try again. You may still have swelling that won't tolerate thicker intake.
  10. Do a search on stall, not losing, only lost, etc. There are tons of posts on this. Basically, a stall is normal. Your body is healing and adjusting. Keep on your plan and the weight will come off. 9 lbs is a great loss so far. You just had major surgery. Weight won't come off consistently but you will likely lose inches when the scale doesn't go down.
  11. Sugar free popsicles are good to help with the urge to chew.
  12. I have not had those issues pre or post op. However, the possibility is there to experience one or more of them. Nothing that can't be dealt with.

    Crack chicken recipe

That sounds great. I would probably leave off the bacon until you get to solids. I may try making this soon.
  14. I had a hiatal hernia repaired with my surgery. Don't think it is a cause for weight gain. If anything, it interfered with me being able to eat or drink. At times, I had to drink a warm liquid in order to be able to eat. I lived with it for several years.

    Steamed dumplings

I would think that is a no go. It will be heavy in your small stomach and could even expand.

    When everyone else is drinking

Nowadays I will usually have a glass of wine in social settings because I want one and enjoy it. If I don't want one, I order Water with extra lime. Prior to being allowed alcohol on my plan, water with lime. Maybe I am old but I don't feel the need to make an excuse for what I am eating or drinking or what I am not. Your non alcoholic mojito sounds good. If at a function or restaurant, a bartender can make many kinds of drinks and leave out the alcohol.

    Brown rice

My plan says avoid all rice during weightloss phase. Even if my plan allowed it, I would not have room for it.

    Regular Diet

I started on solids week 5, however my surgeon made sure he met with me before then to discuss my progress and shared tips and advice.
  19. The best must have is a commitment to following your plan.

    Seriously?

I ran into my surgeon at a social event last night and he remarked that I wasn't eating off plan even at a cocktail event, which led the discussion to this very topic. He told me that he turns away probably 30% of the people who enter our bariatric pathway, one reason being that they never seem to grasp the severity of the surgery and he literally doesn't trust that they'll not injure themselves post-op. I was flabbergasted, then I thought of this board and the large percentage of people who've either eaten fried chicken at one week or who are in the 'oh, everyone cheats' group coddling the fried chicken eaters. I am flabbergasted too! I guess there are a lot of people still looking for a way to magically lose weight. With a true desire to change our lives for the better, it is easier to stay on plan even in social settings. I went to dinner at a friends home last week and she served homemade lasagna and plated the food. So when we were called to the table and I saw my plate, my mind immediately thought what do I do with this huge serving of yummy lasagna! Well, I sat down, added salad to my plate, passed on the garlic bread and began to eat the meat and cheese layered between the Pasta. Not one person noticed or cared because the conversation was flowing. The hostess knew I had had surgery but didn't want me to feel any different and made my plate the same as the others. I found a way to make it work for me and that is something everyone can do. Just like you at the cocktail party.
  21. How about pants with elastic waist? I found a nice looking pair for $16 at TJMaxx. Don't wear the baggy. It will keep you from really feeling the amazing new body you are shifting to.

    Seriously?

@@ShelterDog64 I am glad you raved and ranted because I have been feeling the same. This thread and postings have not been a waste of my time to read this morning! I'll just add that in addition to the folks that don't want to own their choices and / or make poor ones, these folks don't even consider the great risks they put themselves in. Why in the world someone would take a chance of ending up in the hospital, having another surgery, or maybe dying for chicken, beer, etc is beyond my imagination.

Is it bad to feel full?

I understand what you are saying about feeling full. I had the same experience while on liquids. I still get full at 4.5 mths out on a protein shake. However, being full on liquids vs solid food is very different. Once the swelling goes away and you are feeling good, it is a very fine line between feeling satisfied and feeling full. One bite too many is extremely uncomfortable. All a learning process.
  24. I am a little confused on what your concern is. I am 4.5 mths out and average 700 to 800 calories a day. I only track them out of curiosity. My plan calls for me to track Protein and liquid. Some days I can eat more than others. I still supplement with protein because I can't eat enough solid protein. Relax and follow your plan. Supplement when you need to. On days when you don't want to eat, be grateful and learn to eat to live. This is a lifelong journey now. Don't over stress.

    Not hungry not full

Try drinking slower, smaller sips, and different temps of liquids to help with pain.
