  1. I've so confused about the things I can eat. I'm 3 weeks and I can have regular textured Protein now. But struggle with in between meals etc. I have a list but I just feel like it's not detailed. Aside from that breakfast is very important to me. I see folks eat scrambled egg with a little cheese and turkey bacon but is that too much this early? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App If you are confused with the documentation your surgeon provided, it really is best to call the office and get clarification and examples for the stage you are in. Every plan seems to vary either a lot or a little. For example, I don't know what textured protein means.

    Feeling dizzy

You are probably burning off much more then you are taking in. I know it is hard to get more in, but do what you can. You may end up having to take more time off work.

    Feeling dizzy

I would say that you are not getting enough food or nutrition to keep up with being on your feet so much. Your body is still healing. What stage are you in on your plan? There needs to be food/puree/liquids added to your daily grind.
  4. Have never heard of a clamp. Glad you are doing well.

    Soup/liquids question

Your swelling is probably going down so liquids go down easier. I wasn't given quantities of soup so I would continue with having what you can. However, don't do so at the risk of not meeting Protein and Water goals. That should be first priority always.
  6. My plan allowed mashed avocado on puree stage. However, guacomole usually has tomatos, onions, and sometimes cilantro and those items would be a no. What does your plan say?

    6 wk checkup

Congrats on the loss! Unflavored protein can be added to yogurt, pudding, refried beans, soup, coffee, tea, sugar free drinks, and pretty much anything you can mix it into. Be careful on the temps so it doesn't clump.

    This is a trip!

Some food for thought... If you think you are going to fail, you are right. if you think you are going to succees, you are right. Your choice.

    This is a trip!

You are normal. It takes time for us to adjust both mentally and physically. And, stalls are normal. Just stick to you plan. There are lots of topics on stalls, no losing, etc you can search for to read more about it.

    Hiccups Anyone?

I have gotten hiccups when I ate too fast. Hkwever, I got hiccups a lot pre sleeve.

    Eating Chronicles

Have you asked your surgeon about this issue? I don't think you should have so much discomfort at 4 weeks. In fact, at 4 weeks I wasn't eating anything I had to chew much. Mostly very soft foods. Perhaps you could go back a stage for a few days to see if that helps. You may still have too much swelling for what you are eating.

    Meal ideas

When I reached mushy food stage I was able to have deli turkey, ground beef, shredded chicken, fish and scrambled eggs. So when solid food hit the next week, I was able to add grilled and baked chicken, pork and denser beefs. And all vegetables except tomatos. At 4.5 mths out, I have a Protein shake for breakfast, for lunch and dinner, I alternate between eggs, beef, chicken, tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey, ham. Usually 2-4 ozs.. Add in a couple of bites of veggies and i am full. cheese for a snack if needed. And sugar free popsicles are still a staple in my freezer. Haven't met a food I can't tolerate. I take small bites and eat slowly (most of the time) I also eat out a lot so leftovers are always in my fridge.
  13. Overall, men tend to lose faster than women. Some lose fast and others not. And, a home scale usually weighs differently from the doctor's scale. Sounds like you are off to a good start! Just don't expect too much because at some point your body will begin to heal and adjust and the weightloss will slow down or stall. That is normal. Keep to your plan and let your body do what it needs to do. It will all work out in the end.
  14. Everytime I have traveled I gained weight. Didn't matter when I did road trips or flew. Even going to Vegas and walking forever each day. That is how my body works evidently. Takes me another week to get those off and then I can go down a little more until the next stall. I gave up my frustration because I don't need to add additional stress. We can only control what and how we eat and the exercise we chose. The way your body is going to release lbs is not something you can control.

    Normal?

Its just the way my mind is set up now. The staring, the questions, it's just super annoying to have people stare at me and wonder why I'm eating so much less of food and acting like I'm "better then them". -Ariannuhh❤️ Yes, I understand. Our mindset is something we can change. And I have learned over my many years of life that we make up stories in our heads too about what others are thinking. When you are comfortable with you and your choices, others will be too. No one is better than anyone else. We are all the same. Hope that makes sense.

    Normal?

Why are you afraid of going out and only eating a few bites? Nothing to fear really. I eat out a lot and order what I want, eat what I can and take the rest home. You don't owe anyone a reason for what and how much you eat. Most don't even pay attention. You will be able to eat regular when your doctor gives you clearance to. Stomach usually heals by 6 weeks, but transitioning to a variety of solid foods can take a while. And, some days I can eat more than others. I am 4.5 mths out and have felt pretty normal from 5-6 weeks.
  17. Sugar free popsicles are great to help with the need to chew.
  18. The mental prep is very important but it is also one of those things you continue to learn as you go. If you keep focused on the long term, the short term recovery will pass and you will make it thru.

    1 day post op

My best advice to you is to follow your plan. As you start to feel better, you may be tempted to rush your diet advancement, but remember that you have a fresh line of staples along the length of your stomach and you'll *feel* better long before that staple line is completely healed. Keep up with your fluids, walk as much as you can and follow your surgeon's instructions. I totally with the above. The best thing you can do is follow your plan. Cal, your doc if you have any medical concerns, stay hydrated and work on protein . It is all very doable!

    When did you drink alcohol?

I had wine a couple of weeks after my doctor cleared me for it. There are many topics on this subject that you can search for and read a huge variety of responses.
  21. I really hope you can come up with a solution other than not taking pain meds just so you can drive right away. You will likely need them for a couple of days at least. And, getting 64 oz of Water the first day is unheard of. That will likely be an impossible task. A hospital isn't going to make you sit on the curb until your ride can pick you up. So perhaps a friend could be on standby to pick you up after they get off work.

    Post op liquid diet

Get unflavored and add it to other liquids. Try the clear protein waters. I like the thinking of it as medicine idea. It is the best medicine for you right now. This too shall pass.

    Getting Bored with Full Liqiuds

It is not a very creative phase. I did begin using different flavor drops I my water so I got a better variety of tastes. Mostly I was happy with cream soups because once on solids I didn't want to have them due to carbs.
  24. I loved my first spoonful of mashed potatoes too. I will always love them, but now at 4.5 mths I don't really desire them anymore. Strange, but good things are happening!

    Ice tea

I drink diet green tea, make my own iced tea, and, use iced tea with lemonade flavor in a glass of Water. Depending on any caffeine restriction your plan may have, the possibilities for liquids is endless.
