Stick to your plan. Stalls are normal.

Need suggestions.
suzzzzz replied to Armygalbonnie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Toppings of nachos, insides of tacos and enchiladas, guacomole, fajita meat and veggies, refried beans, tortilla soup. Mexican food is a staple here in Texas and there are lots of options! -
Stalls are something you may as well get used to. They happen periodically for many of us. The weight doesn't just fall off and it doesn't come off in a linear manor. I've let my frustration go and it makes life so much more enjoyable. If you stick to your plan and do your part your body will do its part in the best way for it. Our bodies are very intricate and complicated. And if pounds aren't coming off, you will likely lose inches.

Call your doctor for a recommendation for over the counter or prescription cough medicine.

When are pureed foods ok?
suzzzzz replied to VeeJenise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also if you are feeling hungry, I find that having a portion of protein takes that away. Some battle with reflux that mimics hunger too. -
When are pureed foods ok?
suzzzzz replied to VeeJenise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call and ask your doctor's office. My plan didn't allow puree until week 3. I didn't hAve any issues with eating anything and at 5 mths out still havent. I am thankful for that. I eat slowly most of the time and that helps me know when to stop. -
Canned chicken / stage 3 / soft foods
suzzzzz replied to workerbeemama26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, guess I like a bit chunkier chicken for chicken salad. -
Canned chicken / stage 3 / soft foods
suzzzzz replied to workerbeemama26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've never had canned chicken but have heard it is not good unless you use it in a soup, dip or some other kind of mixture. I have several cans in my pantry I bought for after surgery and still haven't used them. Please post if you make something yummy with it. I made tuna salad all the time with a little mayo, dab of mustard, chopped boiled egg, chopped pickles, pickle juice and salt and pepper. -
Hiatal hernia and sleeve
suzzzzz replied to Hazel_eyez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a large hiatal hernia repair with my sleeve. I did not feel like a lump in my throat, but sometimes a light pressure where the esophagus meets the stomach. A lump in the throat would be higher up and usually caused by anxiety or uncertainty. Ask your surgeon about it and hopefully it will go away soon. -
4 days post-op, trouble staying awake?
suzzzzz replied to ahappycamper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pain meds made me sleepy so I went off of them after 2 days and only had pain when standing or getting out of bed. Was very manageable though. I did take a nap everyday and felt fatigue for about 3 mths. -
Why freak out about something you know is normal. I was never the expectation that weight loss would be fast and furious. It is better for you body to lose slowly. This is a lifelong journey so you might as well enjoy it.

Getting enough protein without protein shakes
suzzzzz replied to RussT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As long as you get your protein in it is fine to have only one shake or no shakes if you can make that work. I am 5 mths out and still have a shake for breakfast. It starts my day out right knowing I ha e so much protein right away. And it keeps me full for 3 hrs. -
Weight gain while recovering from surgery
suzzzzz replied to KMichelle88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is common. You were pumped full of liquids in hospital. Your body is recovering and healing. Stick to your plan, even with gains and stalls, and the weight will come off. -
Unfortunately, the thanksgiving holiday is centered around food. Your mother made you something special to make you feel included and that is great. Many folks don't have that kind of support. The food wasn't important to me because I've lost many loved ones and that weighs heavy on my heart, including both parents so holidays are not the same for me anymore. However I did indulge in a few starches and 2 bites of pumpkin pie. Comfort food. I am 5 mths out and aware of consequences to my weightloss.

Anyone else struggling with food smells on thanksgiving?
suzzzzz replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take a deep breath and let the anxiety go. You can physically only eat a small amount. I am very thankful for that! -
HELP! I'm so frustrated by my plateau
suzzzzz replied to RussT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your body is healing. Let it do what it needs to do without you adding stress of worrying. Follow your plan and the weight will come off. This is a journey for life and you might as well enjoy it. -
When does your surgeon allow it? They are all different. Best to get past those cravings. I had wine after 6 weeks. I was fine. However, alcohol has empty calories and turns to sugar so drinking will impact your weightloss.

Couldn't have popcorn until after 3 mths but doctor cautions against it because it is usually consumed mindlessly. We need to be aware of what we eat and how long we eat now.

Week 4 Post Op: Thanksgiving Food
suzzzzz replied to carterbeauty83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't have turkey or mashed potatos until the soft food stage. Take and enjoy a favorite cream soup. It is just one meal on one day. You have a tiny bit of room. You could even have a protein shake right before you go to help with temptations. -
Tea and apple cider (1week post)
suzzzzz replied to DejaVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have any caffeine restriction. You can use water to dilute the apple cider half and half. However I wouldnt have that once you can easily get fluids down. -
Just stick to your plan and weight will come off. Doctors scales won't match home scale. Different scale, different time of day and different clothes can make a big difference.

Strange rumbling noises in my tummy
suzzzzz replied to nadinexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the sleeve and rumbling too. It is normal and doesn't mean you are hungry. I am 5 mths out and it has lessened some. -
Constant nausea started after 7 weeks
suzzzzz replied to eso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may not be sleeve related. Call your doctor. -
How long before stomach pain goes away?
suzzzzz replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think mine went away after a couple of weeks. However it was more of a nuisance than deep pain. That muscle will heal over time and hopefully soon for you -
Questions for longtime sleevers
suzzzzz replied to Autumn-KP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are eating too fast then you end up eating too much before you get a signal to stop a d then you feel bad. This is hard to do but so very important. I probably average 20 minutes at a meal but when I do force myself to spend 30 minutes, I feel so satisfied. Busy lives get in the way when we let them. Do what you can to slow down when eating. Then you will not ha e downtime from feeling too full or getting sick. I do t have any issues with reflux so can't help you there.
