Posting about fast food and unhealthy junk

I think I've been going about this all wrong. BariatricPal is only helpful if you're a dumbass, apparently. I have been wasting my time trying to help and be helped. It really doesn't matter one damn bit if you're trying to do this right, get some support and learn a thing or two. The only people who stand to gain anything here are idiots who want to be enabled. So, since I can't remove myself gracefully, (can't delete your own profile) I believe I will go out with a bang and self-destruct. Yes, it's petty and childish, but I am old and tired and having hot flashes so I don't much care about what strangers on the internet think of me anymore. The people who know what they should be doing don't have time to hang out here and tell the crybabies how hard this is and it's okay if they just need a cheeseburger to make it all okay. The people who want to help others succeed get banned when they finally get fed up and snap. If all goes as planned, I will be the next one to get banned, because frankly am tired of dancing around the BULLSHIT on this website. If you have the patience to stay here and play the game, good on ya. I'm outta here. Somebody help me out and report this post. Thanks!

    Help, please.

I agree that you need to call your doctor, and really just wanted to comment to wish you well. I still have to take nausea meds at night sometimes. I hope you get better asap!

    Itching

Is it possible that you have a skin infection? I have skin on skin in that area (I will need a panniculectomy) and I have to keep it clean and dry at all times. I go through a lot of powder. I also had a moderate amount of hair loss, but I didn't really notice if I lost pubic hair...check with your doctor in case you need treatment.

    Fast Food Questions

I pretty much agree with the consensus here, but I want to add one thing: a LOT of people on here will not condone thinking up ways to eat around surgery. Whether you are just fantasizing during a weak time (liquid diets make people crazy) or simply not ready to make the changes you will need to succeed (your psych eval should have revealed that), you really do need to decide what you want from your surgery. I, personally have had my insides rearranged twice, and I do not plan to go back to the behaviors that got me into the mess I am in with my weight and eating habits. If you are willing to have major surgery, why then are you not willing to find a different way to eat so that you can succeed? People on here take offense because they feel like you are disrespecting the choices they have made for themselves, I suspect. It's a little much to take when you bust your ass to change your life, and then someone asks you to tell them how to cheat the system. It's just not going to be well received. You need a thick skin in this forum, so be insulted if you want, but you'll find little sympathy here.

    Surgery date 2/7/2017

Congratulations! I was sleeved 5/23/16 and converted to bypass 10/26/16. I much prefer the bypass, but I had horrible reflux with the sleeve. If I had it to do over again, I would have definitely skipped the sleeve! Best wishes to you on your journey!
  7. Do they know you have time constraints? Call them and keep after them! I hope you feel better soon, but I absolutely understand how much the liquid diet sucks and makes coping tough. Hang in there. It's all worth it!

WLS is the easy way out

It breaks my heart that our methods are belittled and discounted as "easy". Why are people so congratulatory toward people who do it "the hard way", and so completely dismissive of anyone who has had surgery to lose weight? I guess what it comes down to is pure ignorance. I have a cousin who clearly sits in judgment of me for using drastic measures, when she just "eats no carbs and chases her kids around". She's a size 2, and many years ago had a severe eating disorder. So, I don't think she has a healthy relationship with food any more than I do. Oh, and she calls it "forced compliance" when people have surgery to control their eating habits. Maybe I like "forced compliance". I also like the idea of being successful without having to starve myself for the rest of my life to maintain a healthy weight. I clearly need therapy for my many emotions tied up in food, weight, self-image, and my decision to use drastic measures. I asked my nutritionist for a referral, so I am working on it. This is clearly a life-altering path to take, and I feel it was the right decision for me. It really sucks that we are written off as weak and incapable of self-discipline. We are warriors, and this takes WORK. I'm glad we have each other.

    Overly sensitive/militant people!

I allowed myself to be provoked more than once when I first came to BP. Now I just read the feisty stuff whilst sitting on my hands...it's not worth the Cortisol and the resulting belly fat to get involved. I do find really good information when I look past the petty stuff.
  10. Saw my nutritionist today and learned that I am not doing as badly as I thought. I am a slow loser but I am losing mostly body fat! I just have to get more water and keep fighting the head hunger.

    The drinking light is lit

We are getting a new Dunkin Donuts about 2 miles from our house. (They are everywhere here too) My husband is losing his mind waiting for them to finish it, lol. We love the coffee, but no donuts for either of us

As long as you're not running toward the "hot donuts now" light (do you have Krispy Kreme where you are?) I'd say you're okay. Enjoy!

    Left side of navel pain.

That is where they "anchor" the reconnected intestines. It hurts for a while, and can feel like a hot poker if you move too quickly. Just be easy with your movement and it should get better as time goes on. If you have other symptoms as well, I suggest you contact your surgeon. Hope that helps!

Complications from advancing diet too soon

I continue to be shocked--although less and less as time goes on--at how rude and hateful some people can be. Do what you want, eat what you want, and you'll end up right where you started: fat (and maybe dead). If you spend all your time on the internet getting advice from strangers, you might want to re-evaluate some things. It's one thing to start an open discussion in the spirit of sharing and voicing your own experience, but it's quite another to get on here so you can judge and berate people. I have switched from looking to this forum for support and learning to reading the various nonsense and BS purely for entertainment.

    VSG to RNY recovery

I was sleeved 5/23/16, and converted to bypass 10/26/16. Some things were easier, like being able to get fluids and protein in better and the relief I got from the reflux being gone was really nice. But, my soreness was worse. I did not expect the pain to be worse but it was for me. I was so sore on my left side! It took me longer to recover, but I think it was well worth it. I have better restriction, but my loss is still pretty much at the rate it was with the sleeve. I was told that while I may not lose any faster, my total weight loss may be higher overall. I am currently stalled at 185, (HW 238) but Christmas was pretty difficult for me. I was not sleeping well, so my appetite was through the roof. I am sleeping better now and my appetite has decreased a bit, but still not seeing major movement on the scale. I haven't gotten much exercise lately, so I really just need to get moving again and I'll see better results. I hope all goes well for you. Keep us posted!
  20. I got my approval today for my sleeve to be converted to RNY! My tentative date is October 26. I am so relieved. I have had severe bile reflux for 4 months. I'm getting tired and I seem to be on a constant emotional roller coaster. Just hoping the next 3 weeks go by fast!

    Approved for conversion to bypass!

I am feeling good! My weight is steadily coming off again and I have great restriction. I was not sleeping great for a while over Christmas, and fought with the same 4 pounds for about 3 weeks! As soon as I turned off the TV at night and started sleeping better, the weight is moving again in the right direction. I hope your surgery goes well; keep us posted!

@@rlinda72 yes, the gas is bad. I stay constipated, though. Trying to figure out a laxative that isn't awful (Miralax is what the surgeon gave me, but it makes my mouth feel like I have been drinking sea water). Sometimes I grab a can of air freshener and have it close by if the gas gets too bad...sucks, but I guess it can't be perfect, LOL.

    Nooooo!

I think you'll be fine as long as you don't have a fever. Good luck to you!
  24. My favorite is Dannon Triple Zero yogurt with a scoop of Genepro unflavored protein powder added. If it's not sweet enough you can add a touch of stevia. Basically, you may need to just add protein powder to everything possible. You should be eating protein at every meal or snack, and eat it first. My best weight loss has happened when I finally got enough protein consistently. You can still lose weight without it, but you risk losing muscle mass. It is helpful if you can get protein in your liquids if you're falling short with your food. Good luck to you!
