No desire to eat or drik
Bonnie in La replied to Bonnie in La's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank ya'll so much! I've been getting so worried about not being able to consume enough fluids. Today was better! Fluid goal is 40 oz and I got 43.9! Protein goal is 30, I got 34! Plus and extra 1/2 cup of applesauce! Praying for each day to be better than the day before. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -

No desire to eat or drik
Bonnie in La replied to Bonnie in La's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 4 or 5 days I loved them, now I can't stand them. Same with Jello. I'm forcing myself to get in what I do. Sonic unsweet tea with lemon has been my favorite so far. I haven't had any in a few days, so I pray that I still like that. I like more salty than sweet, and most of what I can have is sweet. I wish I could hit fast forward a little. Lol So far today, 1/4 cup of applesauce and about 8 oz of fluids. I'm still trying. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -
I was sleeved on September 19th, 12 days post-op, and just started full liquids yesterday. I have reached my 32 oz fluids goal only once and now my Fluid goal is 40 oz. My first post-op visit was Wednesday and the nutritionist said I must get my fluids or I'll end up in the hospital dehydrated. My problem, I do not want anything. Everything tastes bad/not right. I have no desire to eat or drink. Being from Louisiana I LOVE to cook. I've been watching food Network channel and in my head, I know it all looks great, but I couldn't care less to taste anything. Usually I want to cook something I've seen and put my own twist on it... nope, no desire. Yesterday I had 16 oz of Water and a cup of applesauce. My head knows I have to eat and drink, but my mouth and stomach wants nothing to do with anything. Will my taste get better? Will I want to eat and drink? When? Has anyone else gone through this? Sleeved 9/19 How are you feeling?
Bonnie in La replied to Spectra13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved and hernia repair on September 19th also. Not so sore, but when I drink, my God the spasms! I should be getting 32 oz of fluids a day and it's not happening, 18-24 oz. It takes me about 45 minutes to an hour and a half to eat a 1/2 a cup of Jello or My Weight chicken broth. I just don't want anything. I assume lack of fluids and Protein is why I stay so tired. No poop for me either...my going often to pee stopped the day after I came home from the hospital on Wed... no constant fluids running through my veins. My biggest concern is my lack of fluids and the spasms. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App -
Anyone have BCBS of IL but live in Virginia?
Bonnie in La replied to goaldigger33's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have BCBS of IL and live in Louisiana. My first visit with my surgeon was July 1, 2016 and my surgery was Monday September 19. I wasn't 100 pounds or more overweight nor did I have a BMI of 40 or more. So, the requirements for surgery was BMI of 35 or more and one of the following ... It was medically approved because My BMI was 39 and I have sleep apnea. Requirements, psychological evaluation, PCP clearance, 30 day visit with surgeon. My surgeon's office emailed me the requirements from BCBS. Look at www.whyweight.com there's a place on there to get free insurance verification. Your surgeon may require the extras. Feel like I'm missing something !
Bonnie in La replied to shirl123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is less than that. I told my surgeon my PCP was not on board with me needing this and he said she doesn't have to be. HE did the letter of medical necessity. sleep study was optional. I did the psych eval a couple of weeks ago. Once that was sent to the surgeon his office coordinator sent everything to BCBS. After I get approval from them I get blood work. I guess I will have one more pre-op visit with the doctor? I only have to do a 3 day liquid diet before surgery. It's funny how different things are for different surgeons and insurance companies. I am not worried about my insurance requiring less. I am a super information gatherer. I have been researching, reading books, watching YouTube videos and asking questions about WLS for probably 2 years. My hospital has a support group, I went last week and asked the nurse some more specific questions. I'm ready, just need my date! Good luck to you! I have BCBS of IL, yeah, they didn't call for much and ruled it medically necessary for me. I'm very grateful and I know it's all going to be fine. Feel like I'm missing something !
Bonnie in La replied to shirl123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same. All I had to do... 1.PCP clearance 2.Sleep study 3. Psychological evaluation 4. Blood work 5. 30 day follow up appointment with surgeon. 6. Pre-op tomorrow 7. liquids Sunday (only one day before surgery.) 8. Surgery Monday 9/19 So many on here has so much to do and I'm so NERVOUS because I don't. "?" I keep telling myself that I've done my research, I have many family and friends that's used the same doctor /group of doctors and they love them and did well, I chose my doctor for a reason, ... I know every doctor is different and every patient is different. I guess since my process was fast, my first visit was on 7/1/16, I feel like I'm missing something. I assume we ALL feel this way. I've also been extra emotional the last few days. We'll be fine and probably laugh at ourselves after we're recovered and healthy. Good luck to all.
