  1. I also agree on GENEPRO. It has been a life saver for me. I had several ups & downs with not being able to eat during the first 2 months. My surgeon said as long as I took my Vitamins & drank Protein, I would be ok. I hated the Bariatric Advantage & couldn't tolerate the unjury. I found that I liked cherry crystal light with the Genepro. Each scoop is 30 protein & I was getting 8 oz Water - bonus! It's been over 3 months now & I can eat anything. I do have a craving for Kraft Zesty Italian lite, so I have lots of salads. I've lost 55 lbs & have 35 to go. Hope that helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gas pain is no joke!

I had horrible gas & still do a month after surgery. Every evening I feel awful like something is stuck in my stomach. Sometimes if I take gas relief tablets, it will quiet down. I had 60 g of Protein today but haven't been able to drink very much Water. Some nights I can't even force myself to swallow my pills. I had a bad abscess that put me back in the ER & had to be admitted. The dr said that the abscess was the reason my stomach is taking longer to heal. I too don't have very much energy - just taking a shower & doing my hair exhausts me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Need Advice/Help Please

I bought GENEPRO powdered Protein on Amazon. It has saved me! I put 2 scoops in a 2 cup measuring cup & one crystal lite pink lemonade (for a 16 oz bottle of water). I keep that in the fridge & sip on it all day. I get 60 G protein that way. You have to find what you can tolerate. I love hot tomato juice so I drink 1/2 cup & feel like I'm cheating. I can't stand most of the Protein shakes so I don't drink them. If you can tolerate any kind of sugar-free drink, you can put the powder protein in it. Gatorade will give you electrolytes. Put the protein in that & sip on an oz every 15 min. I had my sleeve done on July 21. I developed a nasty abscess behind my main incision so I've been dealing with that. I ended up back in the hosp for 4 days. My point is that this is just a short period of time & you can do this! It's all worth it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Infection?

Well, it not only was infected but I had the Doctor of infectious diseases involved. Shortly after I posted that on Saturday, I ended up in the ER. I looked down at my incision & it was leaking. Once I got there, I started sweating, my blood pressure plunged to 73/22 & my blood oxygen was in the 70's. I was admitted Saturday & finally got home late Monday afternoon. I am having the Home Health nurse come in every day to change the dressing & do other stuff to the wound that I won't gross you out with. My point is, I wouldn't have been so sick & in so much pain if I had paid attention to my symptoms: swelling, redness & pain. I'm slowly healing & getting stronger. Infection?

Thank you so much! What you said was very comforting. I suppose I have been doing too much & may have made it angry like you said. I haven't had to take any of hydrocodone until today. I finally couldn't take any more of the pain. Maybe if I take the hydrocodone, I can limp through until Monday. Thanks again! I hope you are doing better. Infection?

I am 8 days out form my surgery. For the last 4 days I've had a tennis ball size hard lump under my largest incision above my belly button. It has given me a lot of pain during this time & seems worse today. I've been taking 4 extra-strength Tylenol every 4 hours. I've tried constant ice & then a heating pad that I'm using right now. My forehead temp is 99.3 & my incision is 101.3 - but I've used a heating pad until a few minutes ago. I have my first appointment with my GP on Monday but I'm scared it will get worse before then & I'll end up in the hospital again. That would be like prison to me! I guess I'm just begging for some reassurance! Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. My surgery is scheduled for July 21. I am scared of the pain but excited to be finally to this point. The pre-op diet is not too bad & my husband also eats what I cook for myself - even if it is just meat, a salad & a veggie. I only have 5 more days on this diet....yay! Unflavored protien powder

I have this & love it. It doesn't have a smell or taste so I like that. I have some Meal Replacement powder & I can't stand the smell. Same with Isopure. I've had 2 of their drinks & they have a foul aftertaste. I have 2 other flavors that I may try....or not! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. My surgery date is 7-21-16. I made it through the first day of the pre-op diet. I had a cup of coffee this morning but not a second one. I also didn't have my usual Diet Coke. I have been yawning all day & can't wait to go to bed! I thought this would be worse but I made it through today! Yay me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-Op Diet

My surgery is the 21st too! It looks like my diet will be similar & I don't know what to do for my veggie & Protein meal either. There are lots of frozen fish meals. The salmon is really good & also the lemon pepper fish. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I have Barrett's esophagus & I am having the sleeve. He said he will fix the hiatal hernia & the reflux may stop with the weight loss. He said he could tell that I had had significant reflux for a long time. He can always go in later & fix the esophageal sphincter next year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid diet

I start my 2 week pre-op diet July 7 & my surgery is July 21. I am excited but scared. I have a physical scheduled for the 12th. I keep thinking something will happen & I won't be able to have the surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
