So here's the story... I'm scheduled for surgery on the 13th...yay!! I'm also a low bmi at 36.5 so I only have to do a week for you preop diet. But this week has been the hardest trial in my food career. Not only is it my birthday during the diet it is also my bf birthday and a important event centered around food. If my preop was low carb meals mixed with shakes it would be a breeze. But nope my doc wants 5 shakes a day nothing else but Water. No Jello, no Popsicles, no broth nothing to it break up. Never in my life have I wanted a mixed greens salad with chicken in my life. I can do without the burgers and super fatty foods. I just need something different than a shake for the next couple days. I will. But according to my surgeon and NUT the purpose for my preop is to shrink my liver not to drop weight. But it likely won't do much for me since I have a low bmi and not much of a chance having a fatty liver. I whole I do get pretty full from the shakes, my head is telling me that I want all the bad stuff. I'm kinda glad I'm going though the liquids because it's allowing my to start this on the right foot and in the right mindset to be super successful. So tonight I finally hit me. My life is going to be completely different. I don't know how I made it 4 months without it becoming real for me but today it has. I start my preop diet Sept 6th and get sleeved the 14th. When I got approved I was so excited. Now that I'm trying to plan my birthday which is Sept 13th reality has hit. Most birthday I go out to eat and get drinks with friends and family. It's an event centered around all the things I can't have this year because I will be on a clear liquid diet that day. It's kind of depressing. But then the next day I get wheeled in to help you whole new healthier me so that's a good birthday present I guess. Emotions are just everywhere about this. I finally got the call!! I've been approved. BMI 36 w/ sleep apnea under HBCBSNJ. Sept 14th here I come. Starting my liquid diet on sept 6 right after i get back from LA.
