    Altered Taste Buds

It will be 2 yrs in Nov since my by-pass... the first six m9nths after the surgery my taste buds changed drastically! Everything tasted terrible..really strange. Little by little it came back.. but it was a good 6 months. Hang in there it’s well worth the inconveniences!

  7. Oops! Just looked T my paperwork & the goal I was given was to lose 77 lbs! Needed to update profile!
  8. Hi! i had my surgery at Mayo & needed to follow their diatary schedule for six months. it changed frequently for the first 3 months. It didn't matter to me because I did not feel like eating! You must follow your surgeon & Bariactric Dr scheme. If your not ready to be disciplined you may want to wait. It's not easy emotionally & physically but with help of your team you will succeed! At 6 months it was pretty much what I wanted. I'm only 2 1/2. Lbs from my goal. PLUS OFF BP MEDS! My BMI went from 38 to 27!! The rewards are so worth it! hang in there! Here is a really good information from Tufts Medical Center, Boston. https://www.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/~/media/Brochures/TuftsMC/Patient Care Services/Departments and Services/Weight and Wellness Center/GBP Diet Manual12611.ashx

    Stalling Already

I think it's a little early to say you are stalling.... I did not have much movement for at Lars yet 2-3 weeks after surgery. Don't weigh yourself for a week or so & see what happens!

    This Is So New

If it helps, I got all liquid vitamins for first couple of months. They taste nasty but a drink if water right after really helped. I was so conscience about my vitamins & protein. I had my surgery & current treatment at Mayo & they constantly stress vitamins! You will do great, just be realistic that there will be bumps in the road but looking back I honestly do not remember them!!

    This Is So New

Excellent! Makes total sense! I totally forgot about the air! Drinking out a bottle will give you a lot of air, sip from a cup! Good advice Nene!! Happy 4th

    high sugars

WOW, I have never known anyone with a glucose reading in 400's. You certainly can have diabetes without eating sweets. Have you discussed with your Dr.?

I also had problems drinking & eating for several weeks but never had pain. Try sucking on crushed ice.

Not sure what ur Dr recommends but Mayo required 2 weeks prior to surgery to go on Optifast liquid diet. It was cheaper for me to buy on E-Bay. I didn't like it but it did prepare me. I didn't have any problems with the surgery, healed really well. The first 3 1/2 months was challenging... I absolutely did not like anything! I had to force down food. I had some bouts of vomiting. Then after 3 1/2 months it was like a light build turned on! Everything started working together. I'm so happy I had the surgery, I have lots of medical issues & now I feel human! Off BP meds! Only 10 lbs to go! this is an excellent site to help you with your journey.

    one year surgiversary

My sister basically said the same thing!! My Mayo PC Dr would not have put me on the path if she didn't think it was appropriate. She suggested to research & made me an appointment with Bariactric Dr. at Mayo. I decided not to do but a year later back I went & made the commitment. It's such a personal decision... Anyway, I'm on the right path & im totally thrilled!

I had my surgery 11/28/16! Yes, I call it creepy skin!! I do work out but do to other issues I cannot do cardio.. as soon as I lose all my weight & maintain for at least 6 months, then I'll decide if I will have skin removal surgery!

    one year surgiversary

WOW!! You've done amazing! Plus you in a special category.. I had appt this morning with my Bariactric Dr, -67 lbs, 10 to go. BMI was 38 now 27. He said only 3% of people who had bypass reach a BMI reading in 20's the first year! So you have done amazing! You should be so proud😊 It's challenging but I also am so happy u did.
