    Bypass

Gatoraid made me sick also, Dr told me not to drink anything wjith artifical sweetness. That's is what I switched to raspberry tea. Also filled cup with crushed ice & water. I had 2-3 bouts of dumping, once had to go to emergency.. believe me it does get better! I questioned my decission many times but now everything is settling in & I'm going to gym 3 times a week.

    Bypass

I'm 4 months out & still have a rad time getting all my water in. When I was at your stage I didn't want to eat anything! I took a can of Progressive Veg Beef south & mashed it up & put in cup, I nursed it for about 30 minutes but did get it down. All raspberry tea was good with lots of crushed ice. Cream of Wheat, Oatmeal worked for me. Also sugar fat free instant pudding. You need the protein make sure you get at least 60 grams a day. Instant chocolate pudding mixed with chocolate whey taste really good. Hang in there it's not easy but does get easier!

    Puréed foods

Before surgery liked EVERYTHING! My taste changed drastically... Dr told me it would return in few months. Today, 3 months later it has somewhat returned...

    Face To Face Friday!

You were beautiful before & more beautiful today!! Congrats!!
  10. Excellent advice!! I didn't even want anything solid for at least 2 months! I had my surgery Nov 28, 20016 & I've lost 50lbs! Very happy with results! A big plus is the close monitoring by Mayo surgeon & Nutrition dept. over the last 4 months. Although I hated having to go so often I'm greatful for the support!

    Puréed foods

You should not be having puréed foods 8 days out. Look at web site below it's a great guide & tells you what to eat. I never ate puréed good, always mashed to applesauce consistency. At this stage you should be having yogurt, protein drinks etc. once you find your rhythm you'll be ok. I went for almost 2 months before anything tasted good. It was really tough time but you will get thru it. Just remember baby steps! I'm 16 weeks out since my bypass & hit the 50lb mark! Good luck, stay positive & walk, walk walk!! https://www.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/~/media/Brochures/TuftsMC/Patient Care Services/Departments and Services/Weight and Wellness Center/GBP Diet Manual12611.ashx

  13. I was not interested in any food the first couple of weeks. I followed the plan exactly. The second month I had a dumping episode which was awful, I ended up at Mayo emergency.... I seriously do not know what caused it but I think it was not eating slowly.. believe me you do not want to have dumping. crackers are solid food, you can only have liquids, do what they tell you. You made the commitment to have the surgery & change your life. Did you get any info from there classes? I have a week by week menu plan telling me what to eat. If not go to https://www.tuftsmedicalcenter.org/~/media/Brochures/TuftsMC/Patient Care Services/Departments and Services/Weight and Wellness Center/GBP Diet Manual12611.ashx its a fabulous guide for you to follow! It's hard work but you can do it!!
  14. How long before you can have a drink? I forgot o ask!!! Any feedback!?!
  15. In Boston for few weeks! Cold! I will get back to u when I return!!
  16. Hi Tarjou! i originally wanted Sleeve but after going to all classes my baractric Dr. strongly recommended RNY because it has a much higher success rate. I agreed but wanted it done Robotic. Mayo only had 1 surgeon specializing in baractric surgery that did Robotic so I had to wait. Surgery was ok, no pain except for gas. I only used pain meds for 1 day. Was walking the halls evening after surgery. Your so right to seek out a support team. Where do you live? Have you asked your Dr about a support group? I met some great people at the nutrition classes, we exchanged email addresses. Plus my friends are close by & of course my very supportive husband. You can do it!

    Diet

You should spread out the drinks so you are not tempted to eat something solid. Trust me, it's hard but you DO NOT WANT TO BE HUNGRY & CRAVING!! The first 2 days see what works best for you. If 3-3 1/2 works for you great!! Just remember Protein is your first priority. YOU need at least 60-70 grams a day.

    Diet

yes, you don't want to starve yourself. For me, after surgery I did not want to eat, everything tasted awful to me! This is from a person who loved any kind of food.. it took me over a month to get on regular schedule & get in all my Protein. You can get unflavored protein packets & mix with Jello as another way to get your protein in... first thing first let's get you thru the surgery!!!

You need to have 6 shakes a day so you need to be clever & creative with some flavoring. I bought Carmel, pineapple, mint. You also can add sugar fee instant pudding for flavor & thickner! Also, with chocolate I added 1 tbsp dark chocolate CoCo & mint flavoring. I also bought whole vanilla Beans which taste fantastic! But use very little because it's strong. Snip a little piece from the bean, then split in half scrape out the bean. Store in zip bag to keep fresh. I hope this is helpful!!
