    Insurance Approval Jitters

@@Amurillo04 I waited too long to be a polite bug. I followed instructions from the office manager respecting the mountain of paperwork that piled up during vacation. It is a good idea to advocate for yourself politely. They are there to help you. The worst they can say is no. Make it about getting your reference number and nothing else. They have to give it to you if you ask for it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. @ Chrysalis77 Thank you for asking this question and posting your Nut's answer. I have thought this question many times as I will be going back to work as a teacher very fast after surgery. 1/2 time at first... shakes would make the transition much easier. Insurance Approval Jitters

Update I had my reassessment a week ago today while the insurance coordinator was out of town. Yup. She has not submitted anything to the insurance company yet. it would be great if all members of the staff were as fantastic as the surgeon and medical staff. @@cinand38 Thank you for your insight about Primomo. You have been through a lot. Congratulations on successful surgery. How long ago was your surgery with him? Dr. Primomo is so kind and easy to talk to. It has been a blessing working with him so far and look forward to sharing equally positive surgery stories after. August Bypass Buddies!

Lol then there's mine... I went through reassessment on Thursday last week and Wednesday this week the surgeon's office still has not submitted to the insurance company. They said I should know something within the next 2.5 weeks.... So based on what I've seen here and what they told me... Anywhere from 1 day to 2.5 weeks from submission to the insurance company. Insurance Approval Jitters

@@Kyn13 So sorry to hear about the speed bump in your path to healthier living. Remember, the speed bump is there to get insurance approval so you do not have to pay the $40k+ it will take to have the surgery. (BTW - remind me of this if my surgery approval does not come through!!!)
  13. I just called my surgeon's office to get the reference number so I can gently urge the insurance company to take care of me. My reassessment was 7 days ago and they have not submitted my paperwork to the insurance company yet... AHHHHH!

They have everything needed to make the decision... just have not gotten to it yet. They said they would contact the surgeon first then me. Breathing through the small details... They also said that they would probably contact me by the end of next week which is much sooner than the doctor's office said. I feel better having called :D

I called again today and they said they've received 17 pages of documents from my surgeon's office. The insurance company said that I should know something within 15 calendar days from their late receipt of my paperwork... by June 14, 2016 at the latest. What should have taken 2 weeks maximum is taking 3.5 + weekends. As a teacher. recovery is getting suspiciously close to the start of school. My husband keeps saying God is protecting me from something. So I have been trying to feel blessed.

    Inner thigh, oh my

My infant daughter used to get rashes in her little folds on her thighs and the doctor prescribed and OTC medication called Lotrimin (athlete's foot medication). It worked wonders and was gentle enough for a baby/toddler. My husband uses it for jock-itch/thunder-thighs as well with immediate results.

    Headache on liquid diet

@@Elvenprincess This is what my surgeon's office will have me on as well. They also suggested the premixed protein drinks on this website as a once a day alternative besides broth. They said the water/calorie-free minimum was 64 oz and to aim closer to 120 oz. This is quite a detox and a headache makes sense!

    Insurance Approval Jitters

I too am in the wait for approval mode. The office manager in my doctor's office said that fast notice of approval is unusual and that a quick notification is generally a denial. I've decided to root for a longer wait so I can get an approval! No guarantees from the office manager but a new way to look at the process.
