    Less than one week

I would do exactly what your surgeon says to do. The liquid diet is there for a reason - to shrink the liver. It causes the liver to become less fatty. If your doctor does not want you to do it DON'T. We who have to have a liquid diet want desperately to chew something besides ice. Be blessed!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone from Houston, TX?

@bostonbritt Tests you may have to have before approval include but are not limited to: sleep study, psychiatrist assessment, multiple dietitian visits, cardiac evaluation, stress test, EDG, allergist appointments, ongoing PCP appointments, endocrinologist evaluation, ..... you get the gist. I did not have all of these but still satisfied my maximum out-of-pocket expenses for the insurance company well before surgery was scheduled.
  7. @@Kernowgirl You are likely to urinate when anesthetized. I wouldn't wear nickers... They have ways of dealing with it without ruining your stuff. Talk to the nurses. Tell them your predicament and make a plan from there. If you wear them then make sure they are a pair you do not care about and are willing to throw away!

    August Bypass Buddies?

@@WW0747 Thank you for the idea about NyQuill. I am a self-proclaimed queen of essential oils and have used lavender, vetiver, and frankincense in various combinations to no avail. It works on my husband! I have a CPAP and am happy with it. Allergies are a problem for me too so Benadryl is a real option. Thank you for the ideas.
  9. I'm scheduled to have surgery and my cycle start on the same day. The more stress, the faster it starts. You will not be alone going through this dilemma. The odds are with the surgeons to pick a non-cycle day but sometimes they lose the lottery too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    August Bypass Buddies?

Sleepless in Katy. Seems I've conquered hanger on day 8 of the preop diet. 5 more days to surgery on the 3rd. Historically, I'd carb up. Fill my belly and go to bed in anticipation of the sugar coma. Life is less simple now. Any ideas on getting sleep when exercise doesn't help and food is purposefully limited? Anyone in education getting sleeved?

@@SleevedAmy Thank you for the tip about tea in addition to the Protein drink. I will be doing half days (God willing) 6 days after surgery. My daughter and son will be there to help and my principal is in the know. I have to do ESL testing and nobody else is available to do it until the following week (I'd still have to train them...). It will be a one moment at a time situation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    August Bypass Buddies?

6 days left on the liver shrinking diet!!!! I've been weighing regularly and it's up a pound and down 1.5 every other day. Seeing progress helps. On the lighter side... Teaching my son to cook has been a blast. He made a casserole yesterday that involved defrosting a tube of hamburger then cooking it. I'm doing my best to simply coach him on the process and not touch anything. When he goes to cut open the tube of meet, both of us are sprayed with the defrost juices. My husband laughs long and hard. I squealed running around the kitchen. The doggies run in to help clean (a good thing for sure!!!). And my sweet son is standing there with the leaking meet repeatedly saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." We sorted it all out. Showered. And finished the casserole. Lol - more mishaps like this and we should start recording them!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. @@pamelap I feel your pain! The last couple of days have been extra tough. I have set up the family to cook for themselves this week. Surgery is one week from today so it is the halfway point in liquid diet (thank God!). I've found I'm ok around uncooked food so coaching the cooks is working out. Others have to put food away. I just cannot. At least a dozen times I've stopped myself as I was moving food towards my mouth. Wearing my mouth guard helps. Having a Protein shake first helps. Otherwise I'm not allowing myself in the kitchen unless in control of my choices. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone in education getting sleeved?

    Nervous

My surgeon told me he could do the surgery today without the liver reduction diet (BMI 53) that the mandate comes from the insurance companies. I can see from here that it helps us get our heads on straight for proper eating after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You can do this!! Stay busy and occupied with something, especially with your hands. It will be worth it all once you get to the other side of surgery.

It is better now. I added water to my routine (drinking enough to be renamed a waterfall) and did not give-in to temptations which are always abundant. Lost a bit more weight and feel better in control. Thank y'all for your support!
