    August Bypass Buddies!

Y'all are doing so well! It is amazing how far we've traveled emotionally over the past six months. Authorization to preop diet then surgery and recovery. It is a journey well-worth the effort. I just completed my second half-day of work. Surgery was Wednesday 8/3. I can do a lot. Doing jerky/fast things like trying to catch something as it falls is stupid... Even an empty rubber made bin weighing almost nothing. No lifting. Testing, decorating, organizing. It can be done. The only concern is not being able to drink enough when distractions present themselves. Actually lost my voice towards the end of my 4 hour shift. The rest was success. Feels good to be so productive. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    August Bypass Buddies!

@@MrsMonroe I am home and doing pretty well. Only one pain killer was necessary today. 32 oz. is really possible after surgery. My surgeon was fantastic. He heard me when I said that I have to go back to work on Monday and did not give even one dose of narcotics that was not necessary. I have six incision points and they are healing well. with little pain. Most discomfort is internal/abdominal and related to doing increasingly more activity. When I left the hospital, he put me on full liquids (which was a joke at first). Now, it is good. yesterday I had 24 grams of protein and about 120 calories. Today, was closer to 30 grams of protein and a little over 200 calories. At this point, it is almost a job to consume each ounce and gram. Tomorrow, I have 4 hours of work.... My supervisor understands that surgery was last week. He is providing a helper and releasing me early on Thursday to go to my one week appointment. Whew! Time flies after surgery!

Blessed to be home with family. It was a little challenging with our loving doggies (both affectionate pushers and jumpers) but they figured things out fast. My big dog sniffed and started crying in the back of his throat. It is good to be with the hairy and furry family members. Surgery went well. Pain yes - but it is in check. Fluids, fluids, and protein will be the theme for the next few weeks. Woohooo! I've found the loser's bench! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm two days from surgery. Clear liquids tomorrow. Laundering the bed linens and clothes to pack. After urging I went and purchased dry-mouth spray along with a fresh Chapstick. It has been a long line to get to this roller coaster, but the gate is visible now. My family is keeping me busy tomorrow so it should go fast. Time to breathe and stay calm. 14. @@LadyStardust Email is the slower way to communicate. Please call one of your doctors. Call your surgeon. If he doesn't answer call your PCP. Then try your mental health Doctor. If that does not work then please self check-in to a hospital. Your proactive choice will make a huge difference. You need help to learn about your medicines. My step-dad lives with BPD and when his weight fluctuates or he takes pain killers it affects his body's chemistry. About 8 years ago, he had about a year where he had to self-check into the hospital multiple times a week. He is well respected for his honesty with himself and is here today enjoying an active happy life. Please, take care of yourself. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Allergic reaction

You need to tell your surgeon so they do not prescribe the problem medicine. They need this information for your safety. My mother-in-law is prepping for WLS and she caught Shingles. They are working with that therefore your doc can work with this. Trust him with this information. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm on Wednesday and feeling similarly @@MinaDina so it has been cleaning weekend. One more day of shakes then clear (non-artificially) colored liquids until midnight. So... Fresh sheets, sanitizing the shower, cleaning travel clothes and clothes to pack, spending time with family, and going for long Pokemon walks. My family needs this time as much as I do. Curiosity, Please help

@@Gordita81 Every clinic is different... My prop appointment was with a surgical nurse who told me what to do and expect. How to wash every living part of me before surgery. Then she sent me for tests. Blood. Urine. Chest X-ray. If I had not already completed the stress test, EDG, and EKG then I would have had to do them too.

    Anyone from Houston, TX?

@@goblue9280 Wow - you are doing great! On the app, we cannot see stats and you've lost nearly 200 pounds. Congratulations!!!
  22. @@Rae Sunshine - Now that I am past the 6th day of the liquid diet, it is easier to function. My surgery is 8/3 and the last half of the diet is not as bad as the beginning. I did not have any headaches to begin with just dreams of ricotta, avocados, and chicken broth. For real!!! What happened to the standbys, chocolate and ice cream? LOL. Anyway, it does get easier. Drink water. I know it is not easy after drinking all that protein powder, but it does help.

    August Bypass Buddies!

I'm down to 4 days of liquid. Surgery is on the 5th day. Therefore, it is time to clean the house. I'm doing the things I need right now the most. Shower. Windows/Glass/Mirrors. Shining the sink. Recruited the boy to sweep the living room and deal with the shoes everywhere. (You know it is summer when the kids have every pair of shoes they own in the living room and their feet are bare!). The theme of the weekend is distraction: chores, games with the family, go to the movies, and watch movies at home. Monday pack and do the pre-surgery laundry: bedding, travel outfit, & dirty towels. Monday night make my husband's (he doesn't cook and is the BIGGEST critic of food favorite food, lasagna. This will keep him away from fast food. Tuesday scrub the shower again...pack... then play Pokemon Go as much as possible to distract myself. I'm actually excited about this. It is going to be a fun way to walk and inspire hydration. Then Wednesday surgery. Life is much better now that I am past the 6th day of the protein diet. My head is not so much of a problem.
