    Banded Yesterday-OMG do I hurt

That is just wonderful!! I'm getting ready to go see my PCP to get things started and I'm so nervous! But reading your posts is getting my motivation level back up! I see where this tool has taken so many and I long to get there. I'm ready to get back to the person I was 10 years ago, before the babies lol! I'm ready for people to see me for ME and not any outside appearances. Anyway, keep it up NoRoutePlanned. Your an inspiration!
  2. Hey everyone! I kinda have a situation and I'm not real sure about what to do. My ins. covers the surgery but I it says: The attending physician must submit records that the individual has successfully lost 10% of their initial body weight prior to the date authorization is requested. The attending physician must be someone other than the surgeon and the attempt must be within the prior 2 years So I asked the lady at the bariatric center, does this mean I have to lose 10% before I have the surgery and she said yes. I don't mind losing the 10percent but I calculated it and my bmi will be like a 34something after I lose. The ins. also says your BMI has to be 40 or higher, or 35 and higher with comorbidities. So what now?? I lose the 10% and then not qualify for surgery?? Has anyone ever been through this situation? Thanks for your help!

Newbie: has to lose 10% before surgery

And let me add...that is a huge sigh of relief! Come all this way to not even be able to have the surgery...that would have been awful!

Newbie: has to lose 10% before surgery

That's crazy!!! (in a good way) I never even thought of the whole height thing. A very simple solution. Thanks for the idea Yankee
  5. Hey everybody! I'm new here and wanted to say hi. I've not been banded but hope to be soon. I'm just checking things out.
  6. Ok, so I'm new here and really looking into having the band. I'm 26 years old, 5'9 inches and weigh 245lbs. My family doesn't seem to think I'm big enough to have the surgery. I'm still looking into the insurance part of it to see if I'm covered, but I'm curious to see how tall and how heavy everyone was before they had their surgery. My goal weight is 145 so to me I'm 100 lbs overweight. Am I dreaming that I would ever be a candidate for this surgery?? I would be thankful for your input!
