  2. I made a Protein drink earlier but only had time to drink a little before I had to leave. I put it in the fridge, but a friend told me that the protein starts to degrade. I really hate to throw this out as this powder is not cheap. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I lost about 30 pounds one month out (297 starting weight) but had a huge stall where I couldn't break 260 for anything. I've finally broken it and at seven weeks out, I have lost 38. I struggled on purée stage because there were so many carbs. Im on chicken/fish now and can get lots of Protein in and feel fuller. I really think that and upping my Water helped a lot.     SW weight: 294, Cw (according to my scale...will get official weigh in Monday): 259. Feel like I am stuck right now but working to get it moving again. And 35 pounds for six weeks work (surgery was June 21) is still awesome. I'm exploring foods now too. Caffeine was off limits for me too without a deadline to continue. I had to have something this week as during the school year I am up at 5 and in bed around 11 dealing with high energy gifted students every day lol. I am doing the Chike high Protein coffee drink. I love it (and the energy) but just like the last Protein Drink I tried, my stomach is starting to revolt. Not sitting well this morning. :( . I don't know how to fix that! eggs are not my friend so I have been doing the shake in the morning and some Frigo turkey sticks and cheese for a later Breakfast. They run about 160 calories for both sticks and it's good protein. I am not allowed beef or pork until after week 8 so it's been a lot of chicken and fish here. I have been getting Lean Cuisine meals and eating the chicken and a little of the veggies. For once, those meals actually fill me up! Lol. I started tracking everything and figured out I am getting way too few calories (433 one day) so I am trying to up that so my metabolism doesn't get screwed up.     I came off my diuretic several weeks before surgery, and I really noticed the fluid accumulation...I think you're right on about it affecting your weight loss. Plus a bad period, plus the cough. Are you taking your vitamins? Do you take B12? And water? I hope you start feeling better and losing again! Thank you! I am taking my vitamins but I think I wasn't getting enough water in. I have also been struggling to get protein in ever since I started having issues with the protein powder I was using. I ordered some Chike protein coffee and had one this morning. So much more energy! It was awesome lol. I really focused on water today but still have only made it to about 30 ounces today. Going to try to get more in before bed. And will keep trying tomorrow.     I am sitting here frustrated. I started at 294 and sleeved June 21 and CAN. NOT. break 260. I have been hovering around 260 for at least two long weeks and maybe three. I had that bad cough which seems to have been the blood pressure medicine. Couldn't exercise then because I would start coughing really bad. Then I stopped taking the medicine which had a Fluid pill, so that may be part of the reason. Then I got a horrible period (six days of hell and Tylenol is a wimp. I miss ibuprofen) so I figured some of it was that. But now it's been three days since that stopped and still hovering. It's enough to make me want to scream! I started back to work yesterday (teacher) and have been eating pretty good, but have had zero energy left to exercise. First days back at school leave me exhausted. I am not overeating so I don't know what is going on. Hopefully in another week I will be in here talking about how much weight suddenly dropped off lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  12. Just wondering if this is anyone else. I am five weeks post op. Breakfast is usually cheese grits with added cheese. I can eat about half a packet most days. I am working on more ideas as eggs and I don't always get along. Then I will usually eat just a bit for lunch--a few bites of chicken for example. I am never really hungry, I just make myself eat. Then around 4, I start feeling a bit hungry and will eat something. But then I want something else a few hours later. I eat more frequently at night and seems like I can eat more when I do eat. I have been dealing with head hunger (ooo laughing cow cheese sounds so good right now...let me get some) so I know that's part of it. But I think the majority of my calories each day are happening after 4 pm. Anyone else deal with this? Advice? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Type 2 diabetics

    I'm five weeks out. Started at 294. A1C months ago was 9.8. Before surgery (with insulin and medication) it was 7.1. Right after surgery I stopped taking my medicine (doc's orders). I was instructed to use insulin if my blood sugar went over 150. That happened twice. Now I am not using anything at all. It's a wonderful feeling. Down 30 pounds now as well.     I was on Lotrel, which is a combo of a calcium channel blocker and an ACE inhibitor. It took about a month, but I developed a dry hacking cough, kind of like kennel cough It resolved immediately when my doc took me off the Lotrel and put me on an ACE inhibitor alone (lisinopril). Did your doc make a change for you? I was cleared to take all my bp meds after surgery, but I personally whittled it down to a half dose of metoprolol and a full dose of the benazapril hctz. It's the benazapril that's doing it. I have that hacking cough exactly! I even said it seemed like kennel cough lol. But it has gotten worse last couple of days. I have an appt with my primary doc tomorrow afternoon. I am quitting benazapril until then and going to full dose of metoprolol (1 pill in morning, 1 in evening). My bp has improved but still gets high if I don't take enough medicine. I may still have to take medication at my normal weight as its genetic. But one pill is better than the original three! Hopefully the benazapril will get out of my system quickly so i can get back to everything and not feel so exhausted Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Went to a clinic today for my cough and surprise! It could be my blood pressure medicine. Huh. I haven't had any congestion, chest or sinus, so it makes sense. Been coughing my head off. Hoping that burns some calories bc I have zero energy to exercise right now. I couldn't sleep hardly at all for coughing last night.     Hey everyone! Just checking in. I have had a cough for three weeks now...I can breathe fine but the cough has gotten worse the past couple of days. So I am calling my clinic in the morning to see what meds I can take and then probably headed to local clinic to get some relief. School starts back a week from tomorrow and I neeeeed to feel better. Right now I am exhausted from coughing so much! I have done pretty good on food overall and on Tuesday, I am on pretty much a regular diet minus beef and pork. Yay! I love the egg recipe.     Can I Swim?

    Keep your head up and keep going. As a fellow teacher, these kids could be raised by wonderful parents but then get around peers who weren't and emulate them. I see that happen a lot, especially with middle school ages. I have lost thirty pounds but I still have a big gut, huge arms, and a fat neck. Don't care, still gonna swim lol.   22. I am on my fourth week post op (June 21 surgery) and I have been doing fine on Protein shakes until the last few days. My diet plan called for two weeks of liquids followed by two weeks of purée (but no meats and no eggs). With two Protein Shakes a day, I was meeting my protein goal (getting close to 70 g). Now I dread drinking them. I get nauseated while drinking and even gagged this morning. I used to be able to drink all 8 oz and now I am lucky to get six in before giving up. I do the purée food at each meal but the only way to get the protein in is through the shakes. So I am pretty frustrated. Any suggestions? I do have lift drinks but not a huge fan and it takes me a long time to work through them. I have also done a scoop of GENEPRO in unsweetened iced tea. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  24. I was using Optimum nutrition powder and mixing it with 8 oz of Water, sometimes 4 oz water and 4 oz fair life milk. I have not been drinking them the last few days. I have been drinking one lift drink and one cup of unsweetened tea with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder each day to get to 50 grams and then I am getting the rest of the protein through food. I am still checking out the other options though as the lift drinks are not my fave. Thanks again for all the suggestions!     Weight Statistics

    I'm just doing total (not separate) because I didn't lose an enormous amount. My preop diet was about ten days.
