ready?set.go replied to her1981's topic in Rants & Raves
She can loose weight naturally or with WLS the loose skin will still be there... I don't understand people thinking the skin is related to the op?? It's related to ur size post op and the fact that u have lost the 'filling' lol give her time and let her see ur success and she may come around, try to be supportive, she might be stuck in a mental health loop Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I am pre op... I read some of the posts on here and think to myself are they kidding? I think people do little to no research then dive right in and low and behold they screw up... I have been researching and learning about others experiences for well over twelve months so I am fully prepared for what I can expect, in fact my surgeon was surprised that I asked about dumping and Vitamins, meal plans for the future and the best ways to get Protein in during the early days etc.. He said wow most people have no idea and just want a surgery date... That drives me insane!! I can totally understand that vets must feel like they are repeating them selves every day - no h can't and shouldn't eat bacon, no u can't and shouldn't be eating bread on day three... Sigh.... People are selfish my dad just recently had a knee replacement and he had one night nurse who was a moron! He was on hourly obs and every time the nurse came in they needed to check his charts which are all digital now so on a computer screen, check his iv lines and then go... Dad had the door closed but found that the door opening and closing all night was keeping him up so he half closed the curtain and left the door open so he was in a dark room and. The nurse could easily come in and out without touching anything or waking him... Well this guy would march in and throw open the curtains and then tap away at the touch screen computer and yell to the nurses station and then every time he left he would leave the curtain open!!!! Dad had to keep calling the nurses to close the curtain again... He ended up saying something... All the others seemed to be able to do their job efficiently without waking the whole ward... People just don't think Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Ps dad wasn't being lazy he couldn't walk lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Best Tasting Protein Shake
ready?set.go replied to charley27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in a different county so brands are all different but thought I would add that u can mix it up a bit, I used to add a little cinnamon or nutmeg to the vanilla shakes to give them a twist, also add some PB2 to a chocolate shake or some frozen banana chunks... Blend up and the cold banana keeps the shake cold longer! I also found adding ice helped- the colder the shake the better they tasted... We have a new one over here that tastes just like a crunchie chocolate bar or a violet crumble... Yum!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I think I'm eating too much?
ready?set.go replied to smedina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pre op and have been doing lots of learning in preparation and I have read that drinking with meals is a big no no because it washes the food down fast. Think I read no liquids until 30 minutes after meals Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Starting weight: 124kgs or 274 pounds BMI: 40 Have a one month wait to see if finance is approved, then we start the nitty gritty with full blood work ups and x rays etc so we can book a surgery date!
