    Almost 1 Year Surgiversary

I am not one year out (only 4) but I just wanted to say you have done a great job! I'm scared of gaining weight too because it's so easy to fall back into old habits. It's great you are staying so active!

    Food ideas?!

I'm 4 months post op but I can only eat about 42-56 grams of meat or fish protein before I feel too full. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt because it's easier for me to get down.

How do I swallow all these pills?

When I first had my surgery I had a terrible time trying to take my pills. I take 14 pills in the morning and 11 pills at night. I had to make up a schedule and space out my pills over the whole day taking only 3 in each session one at a time. Now that I'm almost 4 months out I can take my morning and night pills in one session now and can take them 2-3 at a time. It will get easier as your stomach heals. I know it seems pretty overwhelming right now but you will get through it

  7. I cook for my family and it is no problem. When I was on puréed stage I made a lot of low fat crockpot recipes because they purée well. Some go to websites for healthy delicious recipes are Www.emilybites.com Www.skinnytaste.com Everything I have made from these websites have been amazing. My whole family loves it!

    100 pounds gone!

Don't let my experience dictate what you decide to do. Even if I know I would have to go through all of this I think I still would have done the surgery because I need the extra help. I started my journey at 540 pounds. I had a wake up call in October when I had problems breathing and when they wanted to do a CT scan I was over the weight limit for the machine. If you do decide to do the surgery, remember it is not a miracle fix. It is just a tool to help you and you still need to make healthy choices and get more active. It's true some people have complications, but a lot of people don't. As for the stories of people gaining weight back they just slipped back into bad habits. It has nothing to do with the surgery. You have to make the best choice for you, whether it's to have or not have the surgery. I wish you the best of luck! BTW, @@Dashofpixiedust8 Congrats. great job. Thanks! You have done great too! What a transformation! Haha thanks!! You have done so great also! Congrats to you!

    100 pounds gone!

I've had complications. Right after surgery I was in a lot of pain and had nausea. I was on dilaudid for 3 weeks. Then I was in the hospital for 9 days because of nausea. Now I'm not able to eat or drink because I'm so nauseous. I'm given infusions over night through a picc line in order to get my fluids and nutrients. My surgeon assures me it will go away but said it could take months. I'm trying to focus on the good but it's hard. Thank you so much! It's definitely been a journey!

    Nausea

I am 6 weeks post op and nauseous all the time. I can't even eat or drink I'm so nauseated. I had to go on TPN infusions every night through a picc line in order to get my fluids and nutrients. My surgeon said it happens to some Bariatric patients and it will go away. In the meantime I'm miserable.

    Picc line?

So to top this week off of still being in the hospital since Sunday I am still so nauseous and unable to drink much so my doctors have put in a picc line. I will have get TPN infusions every night starting tonight and continuing when I get home. This will give me my protein, fluids, and nutrients I'm not getting from eating and drinking. I may need to do that for 6-8 weeks ???? Has anyone else had to do this after surgery? What was your experience?

    Picc line?

I still feel pretty bad. I still can't really eat or drink anything. I'm not overwhelmingly nauseous 24/7 anymore but I still have a lot of nausea. I called my doctor on Friday and they said if I'm still having so much trouble over the weekend I can a) go to ER again call on call surgeon c) call them back Tuesday morning and they can maybe get me in for another procedure. I'm trying to hold off until Tuesday

    Not feeling good

I have had a rough start to this. I've been having trouble controlling my pain since surgery on May 27th. I finally was able to stop taking the dilaudid the day before yesterday. I was starting to feel better. I have been feeling TERRIBLE all day today. I feel so nauseous (even though I've taken zofran, it improved but didn't go away). I feel light headed and kind of weak. My stomach feels like it's cramping, kind of like a clenching. I have been trying to drink all day. I tried having some puréed food at lunch cuz I thought maybe I was just hungry but it did not help at all. In fact I felt worse after eating. I just want to feel better! I feel so terrible! Any thoughts or tips? I just want it to stop ????

    Feeling Down

Were you using milky or juicy protein shakes? Not everyone can tolerate milk after surgery. Maybe try isopure or a protein drink like that which doesn't use dairy.

    Picc line?

I'm not sure. I had my sleeve May 27th and had bad pain for 3 weeks. Then came the extreme nausea and I was admitted to the hospital where they did a swallow test where they found I had a kink in the end of my pouch that was restricting things from going through easily. They were able to dilate it but don't really know when I'll feel better. Since I'm still not able to eat or drink much they are sending me home with a picc line so I won't be dehydrated and malnourished

    Picc line?

Thank you, it's definitely been frustrating. I just want to feel better and they say it could be a week or months before I feel better. They said it's just a waiting game which I don't want to hear!

    Picc line?

I got the sleeve on May 27th so like a month ago
  21. Wow 20 lbs! My doctor gave me a limit of 10 lbs for the first 6 weeks. I would call your doctor since you are having new pain. They may be able to just ease your mind

Update for those who are wondering...

Thanks! And I meant for number 2 that if I can eat tomorrow I go home Friday.
  23. I had an earlier post saying how I did not feel well. It turned out I had a narrowing in my pouch that was causing my nausea. I had an endoscopy this morning and they were able to open the narrowing in my stomach. The doctors just came by. They are going to put me back on puréed diet. They are going to try and take me off all IV meds so changing it all to by mouth. They said it might take some time for me to feel better. They are also ordering ensure for me so maybe I can get some protein in. I asked how much longer I might need to stay here and they said there are a few different ways it can go. 1. If I can eat my dinner and breakfast without a problem and I feel better I can leave tomorrow. 2. If I eat all my meals tomorrow I can go home tomorrow. 3. If I can't eat anything still they will need to put a pic line in and feed me nutrients through my veins???? I would definitely appreciate some good thoughts sent my way! I've been in the hospital since Sunday and I'd love to go home and stop feeling so sick! Thanks you guys!

    Not feeling good

We have answers! I just got back from the swallow test and they saw that my pouch had narrowed and that's why I feel so sick. He said they just need to go in with a scope to fix it so I'm relieved. I hope then the constant nausea will stop!

    Puréed food stage options

Also anything in the crockpot is easily puréed! Just find a recipe you like to crockpot and purée up your portion.
