Had a REALLY bad day yesterday

I am so sorry to hear about your fathers health. I can't even imagine how you are feeling. I bet I would have slipped up too! Don't beat yourself up!! It was one day in a lifetime of change. As long as it doesn't then become a week, or month, just put it behind you. Today is a new day where you can make new choices. I'll be thinking of you and your family! Puree, blender and baby food

Also FYI the best meats to purée are ones cooked in a slow cooker. They are much softer easier to break down! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Puree, blender and baby food

I used my magic bullet a lot. I was able to make delicious low calorie meals and just puréed my portion. Make sure to purée meats with broth, milk, Water, or cooking liquids. I tried baby food and it was disgusting lol don't do it! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Taking pills

I wasn't told to open my omeprazole. It's so interesting to me that everyone is told different things Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App On a side note I've opened my omeprazole prior to surgery. It works faster imo. But yeah I didn't want to open the omeprazole and asked if I could get a prescription for tab only and he oblidged. But then he prescribed the gall bladder med in a capsule and I was like well wth! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Haha yeah, that's crazy. I wasn't given any meds for my gallbladder...now at 4 months out I'm having my gallbladder taken out on October 18th Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I KNOW I can eat more than I should

That doesn't seem like it would be too much. My surgeon has said that as you heal you will be able to eat more. So right after surgery you would be able to eat like a 1/4-1/2 cup but you will be able to eat 1/2-1 cup of food as your stomach heals. The main thing is making the right choices. It's okay to indulge every once in a while it's just a slippery slope. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Taking pills

You shouldn't open a capsule without consulting either your doctor or pharmacist. Not all pills can by opened. Also you can take whole pills after surgery. I was given my pills to take the morning after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. At 4 days it's okay to not get the recommended amount. It will get easier as your stomach heals. Try different temperatures of liquids. I couldn't drink at all the first 3 days. When I tried hot tea I was finally able to take in a bit of Fluid. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gallstones

Thanks! Yeah, I'm kind of worried cuz I don't usually do that well healing from surgery. After having the sleeve I was in hospital 5 days, longer than most people and I was in sooo much pain I had to take 4-6 mg dilaudid every 4-6 hours for almost 3 weeks I'm also worried about work because I had JUST started back at work like 2 weeks ago after being out from the sleeve for like 4 months almost Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thanks! I hope it's not too bad Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Gallstones

So I am 4 months out and I have been unbelievably nauseous since 1 month out. Last week Tuesday I suddenly had soooo much pain, extra nausea, and vomiting. I went to the ER and they did a catscan but didn't find anything. I saw my surgeon last Thursday and he ordered a stomach ultrasound and an endoscopy. I did the ultrasound the other day and they found gallstones. I'm seeing my surgeon tomorrow and we are going to talk about surgery for the removal of my gallbladder. I know this is a pretty common occurrence after surgery. Have you gotten this done? How was the surgery? How long were you out of work? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

I have got to learn how to cook and what to cook and what to eat and what not to eat. Because honestly having such bad eating habits I feel like anything that isn't "bad" is good. Which I know it isn't. So I just need to do my research and learn how to cook healthy. I use the app My Fitness Pal as well and it doesn't really help. It kind of makes me feel bad. Like everytime I log something it's constantly telling me something is too high. Sodium, carbs, sugars, SOMETHING. Any help here?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I use a lot of weight watcher recipes, they include the serving size and all the nutritional facts in the recipes and really 95% of the recipes are really good. Some sites I use are www.skinnytaste.com and www.emilybites.com I also recently picked up a Weight watcher slow cooker magazine and many of those recipes have been great! You really have to make food you WANT to eat so you don't feel deprived or punished for eating healthy. Healthy food can be delicious, it's a lot of trial and error. After surgery you may not be able to tolerate certain foods. My NUT advised to just try things! If it goes down good then great but if it doesn't sit well, don't eat it for a few weeks. She said a few weeks later you may be able to tolerate it. It will be really important to measure, weigh, and track everything. Not only your food and calories but also your shakes, Water, or other fluids. I have a REALLY hard time getting to my Protein, Fluid, and calorie goals. I am almost 4 months out (sleeved 5/27) and it's a real struggle for me. I have had a bunch of complications though that threw my intake way off kilter (I wasn't able to eat or drink for over a month). I am only recently able to start to eat and drink again, it's a lot to learn and you have to listen to your stomach and work up to the higher intake. Don't push yourself. I hope this helps at all. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cheated on Pre Op Diet

My pre op diet was to eat no more than 1000 calories a day for 2 weeks. I actually ended up eating less than that most days Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Sizes clearly mean nothing

I am down 138 pounds and am still in the same size. They are getting looser though so going down a size shouldn't be too far off. HW 540 SW 480 CW 402 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I have had many complications and was out for 12 weeks and the first day I went back to work I was admitted back into the hospital and was out another 2 weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I had my surgery on May 27, 2016. I have had a lot of complications and now live with moderate nausea as a baseline feeling and can only function when using the 6 antinausea meds I have but I am so happy I had this surgery. I started this weight loss journey at my highest weight of 540. I was able to lose 60 pounds in the 6 months before surgery and went into surgery at 480. Now at almost 4 months post op I can almost wave goodbye to the 400's at 402! I can't wait to see that blessed 3 on the scale! I have not been this low a weight since February of 2012 ☺️ I am so thankful for the help this surgery has given me and I'm ready for my life to finally start ❤️
