I would contact your surgeon as each practice has their own suggestions. I am 5 months post op and eat an average of 700 calories a day. My goal from my surgeon is 600-800. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am 6 months out and can drink much better than I did after surgery. I find it depends on the thickness also. I can drink Water faster than my Protein shakes. If I drink my Protein drinks too fast I feel a little sick. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

So I had my surgery on 5/27. When I started this journey I weighed 540 pounds. At the surgery date I weighed 480. And now I weigh 372. I think I'm starting to get some hanging skin but I'm not sure. The one side of my stomach hangs a lot lower than my other side. Has that happened to any of you that one side of your stomach hanged lower than your other side? It's very annoying and I'm still like 170 pounds from my goal weight. I'm worried it will give me issues even before I get to goal weight... Do you have any input? Talk about losing motivation...
Dashofpixiedust8 replied to mcplu28's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was around your weight at 540 when I went in for my first appointment and my surgeons only had me lose 40 pounds before they would do the surgery. I lost about 60 pounds in 6 months so you have really done fantastic! I know 9 pounds may not seem like much because we were on the high end so we think weight should just fly off, right? But your body needs time to adjust to the loss. You will have months you lose a lot and some you don't. I also would look into different surgeons. Each practice has their own highest weight they will operate on. Do some research! You can do this! Don't get down on yourself for still losing weight! If you gained 9 pounds that would be a different story. Keep working at it. It's not going to come off all at once but it's worth it! Highest weight: 540 Surgery weight (5/27/16): 480 Current weight: 358 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you!! It's true that many people have a negative view of the surgery and think it's the "easy" way. This has been anything but easy!! I had to do something or I was probably going to die. I was so fat it was pressing against my lungs and affected my breathing. I had to go on portable oxygen because my oxygen dropped so low because of my weight and I'm only 29. I was too heavy for them to do tests they wanted like catscans and Pet scan. That's when I decided to do surgery. It saved my life. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
