    Which procedure to choose

SLEEVE 100%!! I had the band in 2008. I had soooo many complications and so do many many other people. It has not been as successful as they hoped. My surgeon doesn't even put the band in anymore but they take out about 20 a year. I suggest you DO NOT get the band. The sleeve has been amazing for me. Even though I had some complications in the first 6 months (I am 8 months out now) I am so thankful for this surgery. It has saved my life!!

EXCITED! untill I watch my 600 lb life

They make this show to be entertaining. If they only showed stories of patients who had no issues and were very successful they would have no ratings. People watch it for the dramatic stories. Please take these stories with a grain of salt. If you are not close to that weight range you have a much lower chance of complications (though there is always a risk, this is a serious surgery that should not be taken lightly). I started at 540 and did have some complications after surgery, I am now 8 months out and would do this surgery again in a heartbeat because it game me my life back! Starting weight (10/29/15): 540 Surgery Weight (5/29/16): 480 Current Weight (2/1/17): 325

    Fullness

Once you start eating foods with actual substance you will start to notice the restriction. With just liquids you won't feel the same fullness as you will with solids.

High BMI peeps! Tell me your stories.

I am 5'10 and I started at 540 pounds in October of 2015. I had surgery 5/29/16 at 480 pounds. Today 1/29/17 I weigh 324 pounds! This surgery saved my life! Before I had surgery I had to be on oxygen because I was so overweight it was pushing against my lungs. Even with all the complications I had after surgery I would do this again in a heartbeat! Over 200 pounds down!

So I started my journey on October 30th 2015 at 540 pounds. This is the highest I've ever been. I had to be on oxygen because I was so overweight it was pressing against my lungs. I had to do 6 months of a supervised diet and lost 60 pounds before my surgery and had my surgery weighing 480 pounds. I had a horrible time after surgery as some on here may remember. I was in extreme pain for 3 weeks then extreme nausea for 5 months. The nausea was so bad I didn't eat or drink for over a month and had to get a picc line and give myself infusions overnight to get my fluids and nutrients. They removed my gallbladder in October of this year and I started to feel much better. I now feel great and am finally starting to be able to enjoy my smaller size! I'm having fun working out at the gym and I'm starting to feel pretty and trying to date. I now weigh 336 pounds! That's 204 pounds down from my first weigh in and 144 pounds down since my surgery May 29th 2015! I'm so excited to be going in the right direction! I just turned 30 in November and I can't wait to finally start living my life! Here are some before and after pictures! Cpap machine nightmare

For most insurance you have to fail cpap by not having your AHI corrected using the cpap for 60 days at least 4 hours per night. If you were initially prescribed a bipap that is because in a sleep lab setting they were unable to correct your AHI and your sleep study would show failure of the cpap first.Ah okay! Thanks for explaining that! That is what happened.

    What Was The Final Straw

I'm sorry that happened to you. I had something like that happen to me at Target when I was near my heaviest (540). The girl who worked at Starbucks called out to the security guard who was 15 feet away from her "I didn't know you had a girlfriend" and he was like "what are you talking about" and she just pointed at me while I walked out. I was devastated. I didn't want to go back to that store for a long time. I did call the manager though.

    Cpap machine nightmare

I have bipap which I think is nice because it has 2 different air pressures. A higher pressure for when you inhale and a lower pressure for when you exhale. I don't know if that's an option for everyone though! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I am 30 now and started my journey when I was 29 and 540 pounds. I had surgery in May of 2016 at 480 pounds. I am now 7 1/2 months out and am at 332 pounds. I didn't have an easy time with it but my case is unusual. I used a few books and one workbook: The Binge Eating and Compulsive Overeating Workbook: An Integrated Approach to Overcoming Disordered Eating by Carolyn Ross End emotional eating by Jennifer Taitz Food: the good girls drug by Sunny Sea Gold Friends with the scale by Linda Spangle Life is hard, food is easy by Linda Spangle You are a badass by Jen Sincero I do not have any experience with the acid reflux part of it. What Was The Final Straw

When I was admitted to the hospital with low oxygen and I was too heavy for the catscan machines. My doctor had to fight to get them to do it. I realized if I continued on the route I was on I was going to be so fat doctors wouldn't be able to treat me. They hardly were able to at my size then. I also had to go on oxygen because I was so fat it was pressing against my lungs. I called the surgeon as soon as I was released from the hospital.
