    8 1/2 months out...

@Daja I eat around 1200 calories a day. I have not cut out carbs but I do focus more on protein. I use a lot of weight watcher recipes and also have Greek yogurt and protein shakes. My surgeon said I was actually getting TOO MUCH protein so I have cut out most protein bars but keep one with me at all times for emergencies so I don't get fast food or something if I end out being out during a meal. I have started going to the YMCA only recently because I had a lot of complications after surgery and wasn't really able to exercise much besides walking. I do about 30-45 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week. Then I do the weight machines twice a week (I separate out my upper and lower body and do each twice a week). My weight loss really ranges. Sometimes I lose nothing for weeks or I lose 10 pounds in a week. In the past 5 days I've lost 6 pounds. But the week before I lost nothing.

    A few questions

@MissKay Thanks for your reply! I definitely understand and have had the same thoughts. I worry about having the skin surgery and then having kids which would just stretch it out again! I just invested in some spanx but they aren't holding up as much as I would have thought they would for $76!! I wore the one for the first time yesterday and When I took it off it had stretched larger than the one I didn't wear. I'm worried it will stretch too much that it won't be helpful anymore.

I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)

My insurance required 6 months of supervised medical weight loss diet before they would approve surgery.

    Anyone 370 lbs or more?

I started my journey at 540 in October of 2015. At surgery in May of 2016 I was 480. I am now 8 1/2 months out and am now at 319 pounds! My surgeon is very happy with my weight loss and yelled at me when I said I was worried I hadn't lost enough. :-P My surgeon never gave me a weight loss goal.
  7. You look amazing!! What a transformation!!

    A few questions

@_Kate_ Thanks for your reply! What procedures did you have done? I usually have trouble after surgery. I was on 4mg of Dilaudid every 4-6 hours for 3 weeks after my sleeve surgery.

    A few questions

@Stella S Thanks! My surgeon's office did tell me I could get a consultation at a PS office to see what they say. I have one set up I was just curious if anyone else had it done in between! I'm also worried the pain will be so bad I won't want to get it again!

    Question for ladies

I had the sleeve surgery May 29, 2016. I had not gotten my period for about 5 years before surgery. After surgery I started getting it about every 2 weeks and it would last between 3-5 days. I have poly-cystic ovarian syndrome though. I have been on the same BC the entire time. Since I had to stop BC for a month before and after surgery I started growing cysts again. My GYN thinks this may have something to do with my abnormal periods. They are just now starting to even out.

    Alcohol

I had surgery on May 29, 2016. I has my first sip of alcohol on November 20, 2016. I only had a very small amount of wine (1/8 of a glass at a restaurant) and I was pretty tipsy. Everyone has different tolerances. Before I had surgery I was able to drink a lot (like one time I had 3 large rum and cokes, 4 shots of fireball, and 4 large Malibu bay breezes) without feeling much. I suggest trying alcohol at home first for sure!

    Pooping question....sorry!

There are a couple things that could be going on. Worst case scenario you have an impaction in your bowels not allowing the stool to get through. When you have an impaction liquid stool can still get through. Is your stomach swollen or painful at all? If it is I would go to the ER or call your on call surgeon. My doctor had told me since we are eating less we will have less bowel movements but when I told them I was having them once a week they became concerned. I ended up being dehydrated and a bit impacted. I ended up taking 3 dulcolax pills, drinking smooth move tea, and drinking a bottle of magnesium citrate. Even all of that didn't help. In the end I had to give myself a fleet enema. That was what finally got things moving. Make sure you are drinking enough but I would call your surgeon because impaction is very serious. I do NOT want to tell my dad.

Here's the thing....You are an adult. You have no responsibility to tell him. You can tell only the people you want to. Also, it is really NO ONE'S business!! I understand family is important but if you do this surgery you do this for YOU not anyone else and you need NO ONE else's approval. Even if they notice the rapid weight loss you don't need to tell them you had surgery. That is a personal decision you made. If someone asks how you are losing weight so fast (which they really shouldn't but everyone feels they have a right to comment on other's looks) you don't have to tell them. You can just say you have been working out and watching what you eat. You owe them nothing. You owe it to yourself to only give out that information to those you want to if you feel someone will break you down mentally if they knew. This si the time to focus on yourself and buckle down! YOU CAN DO THIS!!
