    Excited and nervous

@amynorwood Thank you!! I'm hoping it will help! Right now it is really hard to manage. I do wear spanx every day but those start to hurt!

    Excited and nervous

@kayshabear Thank you! I agree that it will help me overall. It's just hard to make the final decision. I guess I will see where I'm at in June! If I continue the same weight loss rate as I'm at now I will be down an additional 50 pounds and be only 55-60 pounds away from my goal! I doubt I will stay at this rate though. :-/

    8 1/2 months out...

I had started my journey at 540 pounds. I was so overweight I needed oxygen all the time because I couldn't breathe properly. When I had surgery in May of 2016 I was 480 pounds. Today (February 8, 2017) I am 319!! I can't wait to reach the 200's and then the 100's! Here are some comparison pics! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Discouraged 8mo

My surgeon has told me at 8 months out I should be shooting for 1000-1200 calories a day because I was shooting for 600-800 and they said that was way too little at that point.

    Eating out

I would say soup or a braised meat. Something soft and easily digested.

    Breathing tube fear

I woke up with the breathing tube still in. They had taken it out but I wasn't breathing well so they put it back in which is why I woke up with it in. I was in recovery a long time because I wasn't waking up properly. It was a little scary because I'd had many surgeries before and that never happened before, but I had never been that heavy before either.

    A little disappointed

@ConnieY hmm...possible but you shouldn't have been doing much weight lifting so soon after surgery. It's more that our bodies need time to adjust to the new calorie intake and surgery. Like I said, try to start taking your measurements. When the scale doesn't move, focus on how your clothes fit and how much better you can move around. The numbers on the scale are not the end all be all of weight loss.

    Weight Loss questions

I had the lapband in 2008 when I was 380 pounds at my consultation. I was able to get down to 280 but had many complications and gained all my weight back and had to get it removed in 2012. I continued in a downward (or upward I should say) Spiral with my health and weight. I rapidly gained weight and in October of 2015 I decided I needed to make a change and fast when I was put in the hospital for breathing problems and they almost wouldn't do a catscan because I was over the weight limit when I told them I was 480 pounds (which is what I thought I was). I was so overweight doctors were having trouble treating me. I ended up having to go on oxygen 24/7 because I was so overweight it was pressing against my lungs and restricting my breathing. I called and made an appointment at the bariatric surgeon the day I got out of the hospital. When I went for the consultation it turns out I actually weighed 540 pounds. I went through 6 months of preop diet and was able to lose 60 pounds. The day of surgery on May 29, 2016 I weighed 480 pounds. Today, March 16, 2017, I weight 303.8 pounds. I got my life back. Before I could hardly walk the length of a room and now I walk 2 miles almost every day. I had a lot of complications after surgery but I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat even with all I went through. I had the sleeve surgery because I did not want the malabsorbtion or dumping syndrome. Good luck to you and if you have any other questions you can ask!

    Best Nutritious Eating Plan

I just use a kind of weight watcher diet. I use mostly weight watcher friendly recipes. I'm 10 or so months out and down a total of 236 from the 6 months pre and then post op. I don't restrict my carbs because that's not a diet I can do long term.

    Weight gain after sleeve

I agree that you need to consult your doctor. There could be something treatable going on and you could lose the weight again.

    A little disappointed

Those are not terrible stats! Those are great! Almost everyone goes through a stall a few weeks after surgery. Usually it's around the 3 week mark but you have been losing weight all the way up to 6 weeks! Do NOT compare your weight loss to anyone else's journey. There are many factors in play why someone might lose faster or slower than someone else. Sex, age, starting weight, activity, and medical issues all play a part in how our bodies react and lose. You have lost 28 pounds! That is nothing to scoff at! BE proud of what you have accomplished already. If you don't stop comparing your journey to other's you are just setting yourself up for mental anguish, frustration, back sliding, and failure. You can and will do this. Try to also take your measurements because sometimes the scale doesn't move but your inches go down.

    Nausea help

I had HORRIBLE nausea that started 3 weeks after surgery. I had to get a picc line in because I couldn't eat or drink anything. I didn't eat or drink for over a month. I had the picc line in for over 5 months. During that 5 months I had bad nausea all day everyday even though I was on 5 strong anti nausea meds. It got better as time went on. I had my gallbladder removed because there were stones and I felt no more nausea the week after having my gallbladder removed. I no longer have any nausea and I'm completely fine.

    Goal weight?

My doctor did not set a goal weight for me. I set a goal but they did not encourage a goal weight, just a healthier life style and abilities.

    Surgiversary

I think it is smarty to keep weighing and tracking even a year out if you can not stop yourself from eating more. when I stopped weighing and tracking I know I was eating more than I should. I have gone back to tracking and I feel much better. Some people can eye it better than others. I am about 9 1/2 months out.
