Where are you getting yours done? I had mine at Penn last year. -
Good luck!!!

They won't put a port in unless they feel it's medically necessary and see it as a long term issue that would warrant such a measure. I understand your frustration. I have fibromyalgia too and have been in and out of the hospital much more frequently than I would like and need to get blood work almost weekly lately it seems. I had a Picc line in for almost 6 months after sleeve surgery because I couldn't eat or drink anything due to nausea. I ended up getting 2 blood infections during that time. You are more than welcome to bring up the idea of getting a port put in but I wouldn't get your hopes up. I know it is hard to get all your fluid in, especially right after surgery. I am almost a year out and that is still the thing I struggle the most with.

HOP INTO SPRING CHALLENGE!!
Dashofpixiedust8 replied to Dashofpixiedust8's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@sjfink That is weird there are no drains! I've heard that's one of the more uncomfortable surgeries. I hope you start feeling better soon! I know June 5th is coming so close! I'm exited and nervous! @Torriluv87 I didn't cut out carbs. I know a lot of people do but I know for me that wasn't an attainable diet. I did start weighing everything and tracking again. I think that is really key. It is important to track even the bites you take of food because they count too! Good luck to you! -

@sjfink How are you doing after surgery? I'm still so nervous for my surgery June 5th! @Newbeva How have you been doing after surgery? Also..congrats! You have beaten your goal! Did you want to adjust it for the last 2 weeks of the challenge?? @klette0147 I totally understand. It's hard not to gain weight when traveling. Most of it is water weight usually though! @Deactivatedfatgal and @rnymorales You are very close to reaching your challenge goal!! -

@Torriluv87 You are still going down though! I KNOW how hard it is. I fell off of tracking for a few months and thankfully I didn't gain. I decided I have this tool and I am silly not to utilize it to the fullest and went back to tracking everything last week. I also upped my exercise and am now walking 4-5 miles 4-6 times a week. It paid off as I lost 9 pounds this week! I am not going to lie to you and tell you I only eat what is on plan. I had tasticakes, I had chocolate, but I tracked it and kept my calories to around 1200. Everyone is human and we make mistakes. If you schedule in your mistakes though it won't affect you as much as if you just go haywire. Make sure you are tracking EVERYTHING even if it's not on plan. You have to make the commitment again like I did. Maybe commit to treating yourself once a week instead of everyday. I have had many opportunities to eat off plan as I babysit and we get ice cream, donuts, fast food, cupcakes...I let them get something but even though I might want to I do not get something myself. We are here for you as support but in the end we can not control what you do. The control comes from in you. I believe you can do it though. This goes for you too @chuswysly It's so hard when you get off plan but it IS possible to turn it around. @AngieK72 I don't have you on my spreadsheet so I don't know if I missed your original post. What was your starting weight (around the 7th of April) and what is your goal weight for June 2nd? @jla031210 Hey, we are coming to the end of the challenge but I can add you. What is your goal weight to be at by June 2nd? -
I am beyond ecstatic. I am now below 300 pounds! I started at 540 pounds on October 29, 2015 when I started this whole journey. I had surgery on May 29, 2016 at 480 pounds and Now, 10 1/2 months later I weigh 297.8! I have not had a 2 in the front of my weight in FOREVER. I only have 98 pounds to go until I hit my goal! (Which may change, I'm more going for a clothing size goal now more than a number goal ) I used to have to be on oxygen all the time because I was so fat I could not breathe properly. Now I can walk for over an hour with no break and not be out of breath! I am so extremely happy with my progress! I used to HATE getting my picture taken, it was the WORST. Now I love getting in front of the camera, I ASK for pictures to be taken! This is the craziest thing for me. I feel pretty for the first time in a very very long time. I started out at a size 6x (36-38) and now wear a an 18/20 on top and 22 on bottom. I even wear leggings now! I have a large hanging skin on my stomach which I am having removed on June 5th! I will need a revision surgery when I get to goal but I am very excited for the surgery and the relief it will give me. Here are some before and after pics for you guys!

@twin2855463 Thank you so much1 @dannielle_down400lbs that is AMAZING!! Congratulations on your incredible success! How long did it take you to lose your weight? I am now down 262 pounds. I have about 79 until I get to goal. What plastic surgeries have you had? -
So I'm not at goal yet but I'm having the extra skin on my stomach removed because it's giving me so much trouble. The surgeon said mine will be one of the largest he's done. My surgery is June 5th. I'm so nervous because it will be a 5 hour surgery and they had trouble waking me up from my sleeve surgery which was shorter. I woke up with the breathing tube in. Also he told me I have a higher chance of infection and wound complication because of my past history and some meds I'm on. It will be a 70 cm incision. I have to stop 2 of my psoriasis meds which also scares me. My psoriasis is pretty severe when not medicated. Even when medicated I can have our breaks. 3 times in my life, and each time worse than the last, I've ended up in the hospital with a really bad out break where basically all my skin comes off. Even with all these things I feel like I NEED this surgery to improve my quality of life. I'm almost down 260 pounds from my highest of 540 and my extra skin is pretty bad already. I can't do any of the other surgeries until I reach goal but this is one I can do part way. He's explained that I may need a revision tummy tuck when I reach goal since I'm still a little less than 100 pounds away from goal. Insurance approved coverage first try though which gives you an idea of how bad it is. I'm just nervous and excited at the same time. Has anyone had this surgery? What was your recovery like? What were your results? I don't do well with surgery generally. After the sleeve surgery I was kept 5 days instead of 2 and was in pain for 3 weeks. After my gallbladder removal I was readmitted to the hospital due to pain. They told me I wouldn't be able to save my belly button. So now I get to tell people I am an alien or was created in a lab..which I'm kind of looking forward to. Lol I'm so nervous but also so hopeful this will help...

@OutsideMatchInside I definitely had a lot of complications after surgery even though my band was removed 4 years before my sleeve surgery. I don't know how the lapband is still an offered surgery either. They really need to take it off the market. -

What does your daily food intake look like?
Dashofpixiedust8 replied to scochrane86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am almost a year out and I don't watch carbs but I focus mostly on protein. I say my doctor for my one year appointment yesterday and the nutritionist said I needed to add more fruits and veggies and I can back up on the protein. So here is a sample of what I eat: Breakfast: 1 egg scrambled with 1/2 ounce white american cheese. 1 oz turkey Canadian bacon. 1 cup cold brew coffee with 2 teaspoons creamer. Snack: Greek yogurt or fruit Lunch: Usually left overs from dinner (so chicken, steak, pork, burger) or 2 ounces of turkey lunch meat and 1/2 ounce white american cheese Snack: popcorn, pringles bakes sticks, or Muuna cottage cheese. Dinner: I mostly make weight watcher recipes. So I have 3-5 ounces of protein with 1-2 ounces of veggies. Snack: small square of dark chocolate, popsicle, fruit -

@Sleeveforme2017 You only gained .4 of an ounce. I wouldn't call that a gain!! Your body could just be retaining water. Make sure you are extra hydrated since you are exercising now. -

I'm glad you are getting it under control! I hope you feel better! It is scary when things can go wrong even many years after the initial surgery. I'm definitely nervous about having down the line complications. Have fun gaining those 10 pounds back though! [emoji6] haha
