1 week out. Not dealing so well.

It sounds like you know what you need to do and why. Try to find some activities or meditations to take your mind elsewhere. The first few weeks have so many ups and downs. Reach out to your surgical team, therapist or nutritionist if you are lucky enough to have a center with them all. I know it sounds corny but I actually used an app for sleep, excercise meditation. It helped calm me for good rest which was key for me healing. You are healing. Your body needs to be cared for. I find it hard sometimes but I am trying to treat myself as I would a loved one I was caring for- with patience, encouragement and good advice! Also helped me was avoiding tv. I felt like everything was food oriented. Cleaning, going through clothes, walking walking walking. You can do it!

    Who did you tell?

@@Ldyvenus he should not have inquired totally inappropriate and likely illegal make a note of this occurrence in writing/note on a journal. Not saying you need to raise with hr. You could casually mention or not. He query may have come from ignorance of hr and human inclination to ask. You chose a good thing to say based on similarity to procedures and the fact that you didn't say gal bladder in case the gb surgery is something you need in future. Good luck!

    Black and White Thinking.

Well I had liver fears even though numbers weren't that bad and I stopped alcohol months early. Maybe it was make up of our group pre-op My nut stressed importance of diet but said I know you will cheat a bit the first week just don't cheat the second. It helped me feel human and buckle down.
  4. Wow! Just wow. Congrats.

    Any Newbies in Maryland ?

Well. Congrats on making next step. For me the classes were informative but kind of just listening sessions and something you just had to get through to get approval. Unfortunately. I would expect as results from wls show positives that the insurance industry will start to change but I am sure it will be slow.

    Sushi after surgery?

I am on 2 oz meals almost 3 mos post op. I eat 2-3 pieces sashimi, weigh it sometimes it is 2 1/2 for 2 oz sometimes 3.
  7. You look amazing. Thank you again so much in what you say either rings true or brings inspiration!

    Who did you tell?

It is you and your awesome will power that will put Protein in your body first and drink lots of no sugary fluids! I told 4 people so far. My husband my mom my hairdresser and a friend we were visiting on vaca shortly after I could start semi normal foods. I told my HR was having surgery. I was off one week and worked from home the following. I have lost about 60lb but have a long way to go, few people notice or say anything and the fact that I don't eat any cake donuts or huge lunch at work seems answer enough for them.

    Sushi after surgery?

I have sashimi often post-op (since moving to soft foods). I do not have rice in my program yet but I don't miss it. If you know the place and like cucumber avocado or asparagus (and can eat veg) you can ask for roll with veg instead of rice

    Night eating.

I am intrigued what casein products are you using? I have heard of it as a milk protein but not familiar with it at stores like whey or pea protein.

4 days post op and I'm worried

I had much the same and on purely liquid stage i did not have to limit my protein shake sizes. Though it could take a while to drink it al. They counted toward my daily liquid needs as well.

    Night eating.

I do my unjury chicken broth protein at night.
  13. That seems ideal to save purchasing too many in between sizes. Can you share a link or is it on amazon? Actually just found on Amazon 5 for 4.38
  14. Thanks Alex!. If I didn't make clear it was their concern from studies about dermal delivery in overweight/obese with medications not Vitamins. Specifically, birth control was one and if you google you will see a few. They did acknowledge to me that it was not Vitamin Patches but patch delivery of meds that was their concern. I know there can be variation in recommendations but wanted to share what I was directed. It would be great if there are some independent clinical studies on absorption and vitamins for wls. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0014812/ http://contemporaryobgyn.modernmedicine.com/contemporary-obgyn/content/contraceptive-options-your-obese-patients
  15. I would go with fish you will be eating so little of it worth a try and it will likely be softer. Sea bass is a meatier fish, I am not a big fish person but it is a milder more acceptable one for me. If you are worried about digesting or end up with a different meat you could have some papaya enzyme chewables My nut recommended if problem esp with meat. I have only used once it is a digestive aid, it helped.

    Struggles

You would be amazed at how easy it is to sit there with even just Protein broth! Best of luck!

    Struggles

Hey there! It is a challenge to miss out on time as well as food! For me, I still eat with family just eat what my acceptable meal is and when possible have my meal be the same/ish. For instance with roasted vegetables and chicken, I will measure my dinner and then family eat theirs with maybe bread or other side that I don't eat. It makes it easier for me to be sitting at table if meal same, but actually I have done with completely different food. I like being there more than I feel deprived of what or what amount they are eating. Give it a try when you are ready, you may surprise yourself and feel better about being there!

    United Healthcare

I would say in the insurance world when they say 6 months they mean 180 days exactly.

Bananas are NOT a low carb food

Love it. Yes bananas are on my soft food as well in 2 oz portion and I like to have a fruit or veg now and then I do agree not same as Oreo but I appreciate the nutrition reminder as well because it is good to make comparisons when choosing between foods. Esp helpful for those who don't use apps. For me tracking keeps me aware and honest to myself.
  20. My nutritionist and nurse do not recommend any Patches. From surgeon they are told concerns with absorption based on studies with other dermal medications and overweight users. Is there any competing data out there to contrast that? To me it does make sense that if weight is an issue with steady absorption of other meds in patch form then these could have same concern Plus I take more than normal dose of Vitamins are these patches tailored to wls?

Bananas are NOT a low carb food

I am still trying to wrap my mind around how a full size banana is only 4 tbs.
  22. Trying on clothes and seeing positive change and knowing that gym helps me get there. I also mix it up so I don't have to be there every day or for every work out. I have elliptical at home but like gym one better so I use it and their weights on days I do weights. I just added another home gym item called body blade (check amazon) it is surprisingly good core and upper body work out for 6 minutes. It is kicking my butt
  23. Woohoo lady! That is awesome. Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing. I can't tell you how much it means to us early with a lot to lose! Inspiring.
