Do I really need a passport?
chycky replied to WitchySar's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
There are always changes in ease of access to border especially when coming into the US. You should look at website and since the card is just a little less the passport you might want to just get the real thing. So answer is yes, if you want to return quickly and easily. -
Late June Sleeve Buddies?
chycky replied to Maggie143's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definitely. I am just not really needing another errand and copay. Don't you think it is odd you can't get even like one b12 at a time at pharmacy to do on your own? Is it intramuscular? They loaded me down with lovanox but b12 is behind physician doors only. -
Unjury Protien; What's your favorite flavor?
chycky replied to Miss.Bunny447's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
chicken broth. Heaven. Just got my starter kit from unjury today. If their unflavored mixes as well as Isopure they may be my new fav. It is 30% sodium but let's face it at this stage I am not eating more than cottage cheese and shakes so I am good with 1-2 of these. I put in extra Water as well. Starter kit comes with small shaker (no annoying labels on it either) and thermometer to prevent clumps in hot water. Awesome And can I say again yum!? I will report back as samples of many flavors for person who asked and if I hate one I would be happy to send the other to you! -

@@cmacaraneys I am so sorry to hear about what you went through. I am glad you are home and hopefully on a better path. I know that I did not have the same complications, but many have shared that healing can take a toll on body that can affect the speed of weightloss. I too get discouraged when the scale does not move, but I try to think if someone had told me that in 3 weeks you could lose almost 30 pounds you would think that was awesome. It helps, and I am trying to only do weigh in 2 times per week. But, I do wish it would melt off or I could hibernate (or live in a spa) for a few months! One thing that helped was last night trying on clothes that had been too tight post surgery, that was an affirmation. And, though I did not take measurements pre-op I did take them last night so I can have that to fall back on for success milestones! -
I have felt good, did physical activity and exercise pre-surgery but my surgeons team did not want me doing anything other than walking until week 4 post op and from weeks 4-6 light exercise (elliptical ok but no arms). I would be sure to ask your team, lifting is a restriction they make clear as is the directive to walk, but other forms of exercise may need clarification. I know I asked at my last visit and was told need to take it easy on abdominal area that is healing.

What an inspiration! Thank you for sharing.

Feel better @@Maggie143 @@APanda911 for me, I would have to get B12 from PCP, but the B12 "melts" that dissolve in your mouth are pretty tasteless from Costco I also have a liquid B12 -- actually I have had 2 brands, both from Whole Foods one didn't taste great but the other tasted good and is (I think) available on Amazon it is Bluebonnet brand liquid B12. I can't remember the bad tasting one other than it has an orange label -
I did it! Surgery a few hours ago!
chycky replied to soccergirl09's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was moaning like baby in recovery. I think that is why they inserted an additional pain med via pump. I did not care for having a "purse" to carry around that was inserted to my abdominal area but my pain was relatively easy to handle. It got better every day. Heating pads are the best! -
I think we are devolving into the reason she is leaving. Please don't completely leave many respect all you have to offer! Ok let's drama down a notch ....or two.

Thank you for reminder I almost forgot my 2nd dose of multi. I take b12 I have a dissolve one from Costco b50 complex (which is only in capsule that you have to break and is disgusting so I only have to do every other day) Multi I use Bari melts for one dose and flintstones for other. I hate them both Calcium - I do chews because i had tablets and they are awful Prevacid Vitamin D That is all of "required" "Suggested" Biotin And finally because I am going to go down in history as the person that is using everything possible to fight potential hair loss, many other non nutrition items in addition to the following: Collagen Keratin More biotin Oh and for cholesterol from my pcp which I am continuing as cholesterol has been linked to gallstones, so can't hurt right? Red rice yeast capsules -
I just want to give up

Check out the forums for people who have used Mexico. I know medicaid doesn't cobra so I would echo that suggestion to the people that rescheduled you and hope their interest in keeping patient will help get you in. You could also start shopping around the ACA marketplace plans for options post Medicaid if you have to do that route. -

@ShelterDog64. I think i got mine at whole foods or target. I like idea of the flavor enhancers but I have not found one i like. I have never liked sweet drinks (unless chocolate) and the fake sugars leave a bad aftertaste with me. My nut suggested unflavored in iced tea. I brewed up some herbal iced tea and may try that tomorrow. -

Congrats! My worst gas was day 4 post op. But maybe that was because I was not on the pain meds like at hospital. Best of luck to you! -
I don't want to prolong a fight about bacon and I am Waaaaayyy new. But it is beyond stupid for someone that has already had wls to have an additional wls and then eat bacon one week post op. Period. Sorry not a coddler I have my own shit and if i mess up (likely since human) I will (hopefully) admit it and look for someone to tell me that was stupid.

@@OutsideMatchInside FYI: Just bought the Jiff PB powder and it is nothing but peanuts! Good to be thinking of these things, and I realize the PB (esp choco) had more than one ingredient. I was happy that sugar was only 1g on regular and ingredients were not lab made, but your comments helped me find another version to have on hand! Amazon had Jiff PB powder (100% peanuts) for 6.99/bag free shipping!

Love chobani, but with such small servings trying to avoid sugar as well, have relied on Oikos Triple Zero. 15g protein, so my 2 ounces is a little over 5g! -

THE CARD This is a card that many offices provide to us, and other surgical patients probably, the wording can vary by office. Basically, it states that the individual with card had a stomach surgery and cannot eat large portions, they should be permitted to order from the children's menu due to medical necessity. I saw the card from my office at class but keep forgetting to pick one up, though I couldn't eat a children's meal now yet anyway!!! -

I am also grateful for the conversations. It is always good to hear others felt it had same post-op experiences. Congrats and welcome to June 2016 group! -
As a newbie I hope you all stay engaged. It is very important to get your perspective, learn from your experience, and hear people say it is going to be rough, it is a fundamental life change, and we can succeed if committed.

I go from liquid+ (yogurt cream soup cottage cheese) to mushy foods that would include sliced meat and eggs next week (week 3 post op) My two week checkin was 15lbs down. I just want to see scale move every day. I am trying not to check more than couple times per week. -

This sounds very good! I have all the ingredients, I'm going to make it this afternoon. How much water and Isopure did you use?I used more water than needed about 12 ounces and a lot of crushed ice. It takes awhile for me to drink so I like a lot of ice to keep it cold.
