    Anyone else this sore!

Thank you for such a thorough comment. My body is still very achy as well. My shoulders, sides, back, everything lol. Thank God, I woke up today feeling quite a bit better than yesterday. I'm still sore, but not like I have been. I talked to my surgeon yesterday and he said it's just muscle soreness. I see him on Friday, so I can't wait to see what he has to say. I've been on a recliner since I got home from the hospital which has made it almost impossible to sleep. Last night I was able to lay at an uncomfortable angle on my back in bed lol but I finally got good rest!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I truly think you're just sore, like your doctor said. The part where you mentioned having to lay at an uncomfortable angle sounds like it's trapped gas. When I had my gallbladder removed, I couldn't even recline for the first 3 days. I had to sleep at a 90 degree angle. The gas pain from my gallbladder removal actually lingered a bit for about 5 days, but after 3 days, it was bearable enough for me to lay down to sleep. The pain I had after my sleeve felt very similar. But luckily, the pain only lasted 2 days. So, maybe what you're feeling is soreness and a bit of leftover gas in your diaphragm.

    3 days into pre-op diet

Yes headaches more like migraine strength and i can't take anything since my surgery is close Sent from my LG-H811 using the BariatricPal App You're allowed to take liquid Tylenol. That's what I took, and it helped.

    I'm calling BS

LMAO! I choked on my water reading this. Same here!
  4. That is odd that you're able to eat more now that you have a sleeve. Most people get the sleeve after the band for 2 reasons: Because the band was causing complications, or because the band wasn't working as much as they expected. A lot of people get the revision because the sleeve has a higher/quicker weight loss rate than the band. Have you talked to your doctor about this? I was going to ask if maybe what you're feeling is cravings instead of hunger pangs. But I see where you said that you're feeling nauseous by trying not to eat more than you should be, which makes me think that you're actually feeling hunger pangs. If I were you, I'd call my doctor and discuss this with them. My first assumption would be that they didn't remove as much stomach as most doctors do. I actually know of a woman whose doctor only removed 65% of her stomach, (while most doctors removed 85-90%) and she still felt hunger pangs.

    PRE OP DIET

It definitely gets easier! Luckily, I wasn't as hungry as I expected I'd be. The only bad thing I experienced was a mild headache, but I was able to get rid of it within 30 minutes. I have to say, the protein shakes most likely saved me from feeling miserable. They kept the hunger at bay, especially since they're rather tasty. I heard most people start feeling better, as far as hunger goes, on the 3rd or 4th day. It's best to keep busy and stay far away from anything that looks or smells yummy.

    Anyone else this sore!

Everyone is different. I was sore for the first 2 days (body aches and major fatigue). I honestly felt as if I had been beaten; or close to what the flu feels like, lol. For about 3 weeks, it was very hard to swallow liquid. I couldn't gulp at all, and sometimes even the sips were too much. This happened so often that it was as if I had forgotten what normal felt like. Luckily, I didn't experience any nausea. I'm actually very surprised because I'm so prone to getting nauseous when I have a migraine. So I thought it was odd that even major surgery couldn't make me feel sick to my stomach, lol. XD Have you taken your B12 vitamins yet? I'm not sure how I recovered so instantly... I remember coming home and sleeping in my mom's bed for hours (my room was occupied by a hyper Labrador retriever, and I wasn't in the mood to be jumped on, lol). I woke up a few hours later, and that's when the horrible body aches began. I was so sore and I was nearly convinced that I had a fever (but I didn't). So I sat down for a few minutes, drank some Powerade Zero, took a B12 vitamin (these are my favorite http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/image/spin_prod_ec_779673801??hei=64&wid=64&qlt=50), and went back to sleep for another several hours. When I woke back up, the body aches were completely gone. I don't know if the B12 helped, but I was wondering how I could feel so awful, and then feel so much better just from taking a long nap. I also felt sore in my chest area. I had a hiatal hernia fixed, so I think mine was a mix of swelling and costochondritis. It could be any of these things: Costochondritis, trapped gas, swelling from the surgery, or a bruise on the muscle. Are you resting enough? You could also be overexerting yourself.

    Struggling

First of all, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother, especially on the day you were meant to celebrate her. That's awful, and definitely the reason you indulged into food. Food is great for keeping our minds off some of the pain. I have not done this, but I know of someone who has; they actually have an account here. The reason they started gaining their weight back is because one of their friends died. What they did to fix it is exactly what they did at the beginning of their journey. They buckled down, started eating healthier things, and began exercising again. They ended up losing half of what they gained back, and they were still in the process of losing the rest. It's very possible to start where you left off. I see that you are unable to exercise as much, and that is fine. Eating healthy is the best thing to do in order to lose weight. The walking instructions your doctor gave you are great! Just take baby steps, and eventually, you'll get to where you need to be. I'm glad you set a limit for yourself by saying you don't want to get over 200 pounds again. Some people may see this as a dangerous mindset, but I think it's great motivation to keep you from that limit. I have the same mindset. I just reached 195 a week ago, and I actually feel normal again. If I were in your shoes right now, and I saw myself getting close to 200 pounds, that would motivate me to buckle down and change what I'm doing in order to keep myself from that number.

    I'm calling BS

Same here, girl! On a scale of 1-10, my libido is usually between a 9 and a 12 (off the charts, ha!). But I didn't want to have sex for at least 2 weeks afterwards. I was just too tired. I'm not sexually active right now, anyway. But even if I were, I still wouldn't have wanted it. But now that I'm almost 5 months post-op...

    Hello I'm scared!

I heard that the sleeve relaxes several months post-op. I also heard that it is *almost* impossible to stretch it; because it would take a lot of overeating to do so. My doctor told me that it'll be easier to eat more than 4 oz of food once you're about 6 months - 10 months post-op. I think you're fine. If you haven't gained weight, then chances are, you're not overeating enough to do much damage.

    3 days into pre-op diet

It will definitely be worth it! What are you dealing with as far as being miserable? The only thing I dealt with was slight headaches. I wasn't as hungry as I expected to be. Remember to drink a lot of fluid. It helps with the hunger.
  11. I actually dislike the Lap Band. I've never had it done, but I've heard of so many complications. I know of 5 women who had it done, and every single one of them (except 1) had to have it removed. The other woman, who still has hers, is on the verge of getting hers out because it's causing her pain. It's like the body is rejecting it. My surgeon is actually trying to have the Lap Band procedure removed from his practice because of all the complications. Sorry to keep asking so many questions, I'm just trying to figure this out, or at least give you some insight. Is the pain on the right side? And does it feel like a tight band that's wrapped around you? Is it tender to press on? Please ask for a CT scan when you get this checked out.

    Pre-op diet cheats

I love the Roadside Lemonade flavor of Syntrax nectar. There are other fruit flavors, but that's the one that I really like. Especially frozen into ice pop tubes. Some people like Isopure, but I didn't care for it at all. I also tried the Atkins ones I think they're called Lift, and they tasted odd to me. But tastes are funny, you know? Just try to find things where you can buy just one and try it so you don't get stuck with a case of something you can't stand. I bought samples of everything I could pre-op. Thanks so much! I will definitely look into these. I took a picture of your post on my computer screen, lol. I've been doing so much better by drinking water, so I might as well add some protein into that intake.
  13. Oh, I believe you. As a person who survived severe kidney stones, I believe everything anyone says about pain. Sorry for all the questions, again. You say that you're feeling pain in your hip bone, but also feeling pain in your stomach area? Are you hurting in 2 different places? Or are you hurting on a specific side?

    Pre-op diet cheats

@@theantichick You're right, the word "cheat" isn't the best word to describe it. I guess the only "cheating" I'm doing, is cheating myself by not eating correctly. I think a lot of it is that my mom keeps insisting that I go out to eat with her. I notice that when I'm not around her, I make much better decisions. (I was stalled a few weeks ago. I came out of the stall by losing 2 pounds when I wasn't around her!) I'm not putting the blame on her, because regardless, it's still my fault. I'm just very easily influenced by her, and also her boyfriend. This weekend, he brought Christmas Tree cakes to our house and told me to get one. I said, "No, I'm good. Thank you." But he KEPT ON. He even got aggressive, and I know he wasn't being mean, but he said, "Get your ass up and come eat one!" I know he was just kidding, but I didn't want to be rude and say something I'd regret. So I took a bite just so he would leave me alone. Once he was out of the room, I threw the rest of it away. Food like that is something I used to LOVE. Now, it's not as enjoyable and I'm so glad. Thankfully, I will be moving out in January or February. Then my mom and her boyfriend won't be able to pressure me to eat like them. I promised myself that I would do better. I'm only 4 months and 2 weeks post-op, so I'm sure I have enough time to improve again. Also, does anyone have any good ideas on protein water that tastes like juice or crystal light?

    Pre-op diet cheats

I've actually cheated a bit, even after my sleeve. I'm not overeating, I'm just choosing the wrong things because they're so easy to get, and I'm sometimes lazy after work, lol. But even though I'm not 100% eating the right things, I'm still losing weight. I give credit to my ability to portion, protein, and walking 2+ miles a day. I will do better, though. I didn't come this far to screw it up.
  16. Sorry to make you go through these questions, I'm just trying to make sure I fully understand what is going on. So, you had the Lap Band done and that is when you first started feeling this pain? And 8 weeks ago you had the revision, and the pain is still present? I would have suggested that it was trapped CO2 gas in your diaphragm. But since it's been 8 weeks, it is highly unlikely that the CO2 gas is still there. Do you still have your gallbladder? The reason I'm asking is because sometimes, when the body loses weight rapidly, the gallbladder can start to fail, and that can cause a gallstone. When there's a gallstone, you can have pain in your back. Have you ever had a HIDA Scan? If not, you may want to consider getting one. Also, you may want to have your spleen checked. In rare cases, the spleen can have a lack of oxygen getting to it, which can cause back pain. I don't mean to alarm you. I'm just thinking of possible reasons. I hate when doctors try to say that nothing is wrong, when someone clearly doesn't feel well. All of this could just be inflammation of the stomach because it is trying to heal, and the pain could be mimicking back pain. Are you getting up and doing a lot? You may need more rest. The ER might be a good choice, because then you'll have a second opinion. Keep us updated.

    BM - Diarrhea

That's what I thought at first. But apparently, some people are saying it is possible, but that it's just very rare with the sleeve. Everyone's body is different, so maybe it's just because you're on liquids. liquid in, liquid out.
  18. I had the lap band to sleeve revision surgery. Ever since I had the first surgery I've been experiencing a compression and cramping pain in the middle of my abdominal. If I sit on a chair it will get worse within the hour. The thing is I contacted my lap band doctor and he told me that there was nothing wrong. They did an upper GI and apparently there was nothing wrong with it. I have a feeling it has something to do with my abdominal muscle because I can feel it in my back sometimes also. I dunno what to do now because he didn't find anything and I may go get this checked out. I really don't think it is just my imagination because this doesn't feel normal. It really frustrates me when a doctor refuses to acknowledge that there's a problem. If you're in pain, there IS a problem. So, you're still having pain even though you've gotten the sleeve? How long ago did you get the revision?

    NSV!

Haha, that's awesome! I've lost 60 pounds in 4 months and I'm cold 80% of the time. I used to stay hot, so this is definitely something that will take time getting used to. It feels good to be called skinny!

    BM - Diarrhea

I only got diarrhea before my surgery. Afterwards, I became constipated. Are you on clear liquids, or are you on protein? If you're drinking any protein with dairy, you could be lactose intolerant. You need to let your doctor know about this to rule out dumping syndrome.
  21. Thank you so much for your reply. I hope it's just because my body is healing.
  22. I recently went to the doctor because I was having horrible flu-like symptoms. They never officially diagnosed me with anything, and just said it was a viral infection (I guess that's what I get for going to an Urgent Care). They took 3 vials of blood and called me a few days later, and told me that my liver enzymes are elevated. That makes me think that I have fatty liver disease. My liver enzymes were normal when I weighed 255. Now that I've lost 60 pounds, my liver enzymes are elevated? So it can't be fatty liver disease, can it? I don't even drink often (I very rarely drink). The nurse ran a panel on my blood for Hepatitis and found Hepatitis B antigens in the panel. She asked if I had ever been vaccinated for Hep B; and I was when I was 16. So, she said that the blood panel is just showing that I'm immune to Hep B. (Thank God) When she mentioned it, I panicked and was confused because I know I was vaccinated. Plus, I'm not even sexually active and I don't have tattoos, lol. So, I'm glad she told me that a blood panel can detect a past vaccination. *whew* So, now that Hepatitis is out of the equation, what could be happening? Well... As I'm writing this, I just Googled causes of fatty liver disease, and it said that rapid weight loss and malnutrition can cause it. Great. I feel like I'm eating enough, sometimes too much. I've lost 60 pounds in 4 months (I lost 21 pounds in my first 2 weeks post-op). I'm taking my multivitamins, getting in my protein, exercising (walking at least 2 miles a day), and I feel mostly fine except for a few odd symptoms... - I've been having slight cramps in my lower abdomen and lower back (kinda feels like period cramps, but I'm several days away from my period). - I'm peeing a lot more than I was a few days ago and my urine smells like stale coffee (and I'm not drinking coffee). - My urine is bright yellow/orange first thing in the morning, but turns clear when I pee during the day. - They did a urinalysis and didn't detect a UTI, but instead detected dehydration. (I've been drinking fluids.) I'm probably worried over nothing. Has anyone had this problem, or does anyone know what might be happening? I've made an appointment to see my primary doctor in January, but I just want some peace of mind until then.
  23. I wish the doctor had told me which ones. That's what I get for going to Urgent Care, lol. They thought it was alarming enough to check for Hepatitis, so I don't know what that indicates. I don't have Hepatitis, by the way. She did see Hep B antigens, but only because I had the vaccine.
  24. Seriously? I can't believe his coworkers are pressuring him to do that, especially since he's a diabetic. That's so ridiculous. I'd have to put my foot down and tell them to stop because you're making a life change, and that it's rude of them to constantly insist. I'm sorry you and your husband have to deal with that. :/
  25. My Dr. Gave me a diet plan and told me avoid carbs, caffeine and sugars. But I think I will have a fruit once a day to help me out. It is hard especially when the whole house smells delicious.lol... but I have plenty of veggies to snack on to help me out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App When you say "whole house smells delicious" do you mean that you are smelling the food your family members are eating? Too bad they can't refrain from eating around you. I'm sure fruit won't be bad to eat. My doctor didn't give me that kind of diet plan. He just said to drink liquids for the first 6 days, and Clear Liquids on the 7th day. Your doctor must be trying to ween you off of sugar, carbs, and caffeine (which is a good idea). You'll do great!
