I was told no sooner than 2 weeks. As long as your wounds are completely healed, you should be fine. To be sure, call your doctor and ask them if it's ok.

Ok so how bad is this gonna hurt?

@@ChaCha77 - surprised you are back to work so quickly after surgery! I was planning on 2 weeks off, but perhaps I won't need so long off.Today was my first full day back and it was perfect. I am finally rested enough to come back full day strong. Tomorrow is a 12 hour day though, so I may have a different story tomorrow night lol Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App @@ChaCha77 - 12 hours! what do you do? that's a long day….how are you doing with fluids/food etc.?I work for a non profit, but tomorrow we have to work a normal day, then we have a fundraising event in the evening, so yeah, long day. Today, I had about 45 g of Protein and about 60 ounces of Water. Not quite where it needs to be, but it was my first day on purees and I think it will take a little practice Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App Lucky you! I can barely get in 40 oz of liquid. -
Swanson Flavor Infused Broths

Found what? The Swanson flavors, or the Ramen? Try asking a store associate where they are. They're usually in the aisle with Soups. -
Swanson Flavor Infused Broths

I cannot find this online, would you post a link? Sent from my phone, please forgive brevity and misspelling I didn't find it in a link. It's on the packet. Each packet has 4g of protein. It's not much, but it's something. Some of that protein could be coming from the eggs that it takes to make the noodles. But I'm sure theirs at least some protein in the powder. -
Hey, it's nervous to feel scared! I wasn't as scared because I have this mentality that everything will be ok. I don't know why I think this way, but I'm beginning to just accept it as a part of my personality, lol. When you go in to the hospital the morning of your surgery, you will probably be more nervous than ever. But, they will give you a shot called Versed that makes pretty much all of your worries disappear. It calms you, makes you drowsy, and it's kinda funny. I laughed a lot when they gave it to me, lol! You will do great! If you need any advice, or are just having a freak out, and need someone to talk to, you can definitely message me.

Mine was like the picture above. It only bothered me when I went to the bathroom because it was always in the way. It never hurt me, though. -
Even though you were big back then, just looking at you, I could already tell you were a beautiful lady. Even though you were big back then, just looking at you, I could already tell you were a beautiful lady. And look at you now! So gorgeous!

I had a drain. It's used to monitor for leaks and internal bleeding. I only had it for a day and a half. It never really bothered me. I actually forgot I had one a few times. It feels weird when they take it out, but it's over in 2 seconds. I had no pain from mine at all! They empty the drain twice a day. The normal colors are clear, white, and pink (light red). Mine was light red, so every time a nurse would empty it, I'd ask if she wanted some red Kool-Aid, lmao! -
Swanson Flavor Infused Broths

I've been using Ramen power for my broth. It actually has protein in it. Plus, I think it tastes better than Swanson chicken broth. -
Hey everyone! I know I said I felt like crap after my surgery, and boy, did I ever! But today I feel pretty good! I'm no longer feeling the gas pains in my shoulder and the cramping feeling in my legs is almost gone. My stomach barely hurts at all. My incisions aren't even that tender. My only challenges are drinking 64 oz of liquid and emptying my bladder. I've probably only gotten in 30 oz at most today. It's really hard because there's still excess gas in my stomach, so even when I sip, it feels like a gas bubble is getting stuck in my esophagus and popping in my stomach. Also, I'm having a hard time emptying my bladder. For some reason, I always get Post-Operative Urinary Retention after surgery. It only lasts for about 3-5 days. But gosh, it's so annoying and uncomfortable. Other than that, I'm doing great! I can't wait until Tuesday, when I can start drinking my protein shakes and having tomato soup. Yummy!

Tomorrow is my last day on clear fluids. I'm so excited because I actually love Protein shakes. I'm getting kinda sick of broth and Powerade Zero, lol! Thanks for your response! <3

I'm so happy to hear that! Is swallowing easier? I'm still having a bit of a hard time.

Pain after the sleeve surgery
Hiraeth replied to jillybean2219's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The tube is to make sure you don't have any leaks. The tube does not hurt while it's inside of you. The normal colors are pink, clear, or white. If the color is green, then that's when you should tell your doctor. I actually forgot many times that I had a tube in while I was in the hospital. When they take it out, it's only 2 seconds of discomfort. It was very easy. -
Pain after the sleeve surgery
Hiraeth replied to jillybean2219's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's perfectly normal. I have it too. Your body is only taking in liquids right now, so it's pushing out liquid. Other people get constipated, so consider yourself lucky! -

I was in a lot of pain when I first woke up from surgery. I felt like I was having a hard time breathing, but I know it's because he repaired a hiatal hernia and the CO2 gas also played a part. The gas pain was the worst part of it all. It felt as if someone hit me in the back of my left shoulder with a hammer. My incisions barely hurt at all. They were tender, but very easy to deal with. It took me about 2 days to feel human again. My pain only got to a 7 on the pain scale. It never went higher than that. If you're in too much pain, tell your nurse you want Diluadid. It helped me relax and sleep while I was in the hospital. Now I'm 3 days post-OP and I am no longer in pain. It was definitely worth it. -
My story of screwing up. Support? Ideas?
Hiraeth replied to Hopefully A Butterfly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so sorry to hear about the passing away of your friend. I lost one of my best friends years ago, right before I put on 50 pounds. The good news is, you didn't gain this weight back from doing nothing. So it's a good thing that there is a reason; and that reason is when you stopped doing what made you lose the weight in the first place. It's actually not hard to gain 61 pounds in 7 months. I gained 50 pounds in 3 months because of oral steroids for sinus issues, and from the loss of my good friend. You turned to food for comfort and you stopped working out because the sadness you felt drained the ambition you needed to keep trying. You are already doing better, so that's great! Keep doing what you're doing. I also think it's a great idea to see a therapist. I think what you need is support and friendship. You have a friend in me. So if you need any advice, or just someone to talk to, feel free to message me. -
Pain after the sleeve surgery
Hiraeth replied to jillybean2219's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I haven't experienced the fever. But I did experience the pain. I was miserable the day after my surgery. I felt like I had been beaten up and left to die. The tube only bothered me when she took it out. It hurt a little and felt weird. But once it was out, I was fine. The pain I felt was horrible. I had trapped CO2 gas that radiated up to the back of my neck and left shoulder. It felt as if someone hit me with a hammer as hard as they could. I had to beg for Diluaded. It helped me relax and numbed some of the pain, not all. Even though I didn't have a fever by numbers, I did feel warmer than usual. I heard that getting a fever after this surgery is normal. Just make sure your fever doesn't go over 102. You'll be ok. -
Swanson Flavor Infused Broths

I have not tried them, but the Mexican Tortilla sounds amazing! I may have to get some of that. Let me know what you think of them. -
Hey! No problem. I think it's so sweet that you're trying to get pregnant. I really admire that. Please keep us updated. I'll be praying and keeping you in my thoughts! <3

You are so right. I was reading into so much about how happy people are that I guess I almost forgot that it's normal to hurt this much. I had a hiatal hernia fixed as well. So swallowing is a challenge. I'm so used to chugging my liquid, and now I have to stop myself because big gulps hurt. So now I'm sipping slowly. It's challenging to do since I'm so used to drinking fast. This would be so much easier with a straw, but I'm not allowed to use one because it sends gas into the stomach. Does broth have Protein? I can't drink protein shakes until next week. Thanks for believing in us! Bone broth is high in protein. I also had a difficult time at first taking small sips (as I've always been a guzzler). I'm happy to report to you that I'm now 3 weeks out and can drink quite a bit of liquid in a short period of time. Not quite like before but close! Thanks so much! It's so hard to get the required 64 oz a day when swallowing is this hard. I'm going to try drinking Powerade zero from a shot glass to see if that helps.

I don't have any advice since I'm not trying to get pregnant. I just love your post because you are trying. I'm proud of you for that and for losing 100 pounds! But, since your sugar is high, it makes me wonder if maybe you're eating too many carbs or fattening things? I know you said you're still dieting, but are you cheating with meals? Also, have you ever thought about Spironolactone? It's a potassium sparing diuretic that blocks testosterone. I took it and it really helped! It took away amlost all the excess hair I had from too much testosterone.

Feeling weak - 5 months post op
Hiraeth replied to LMSWNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like our body is stressed out. Sometimes, stress can cause irregular periods. When I was super stressed a few months ago, I had my period for 2 weeks. I have PCOS, too. Try contacting your doctor. In my opinion, this is normal. -
I only stayed one night. As much as I wanted to come home, I don't think my body was ready.

I had my surgery the morning of August 4th. I am very sore all over my body. Every time I breathe deep, talk, or sit down/stand up, I hurt. Will this soreness go away? Is it normal to feel this sore? I'm walking around like an 80-year-old lady because I'm so uncomfortable. I think I just got rid of most of my gas pain in my neck and arms. But my shoulder feels like someone struck it with a hammer. I hope this goes away. My tummy area is VERY sore. I never knew that talking and breathing deeply could hurt the post-op stomach. Everything hurts. My arms, neck, tummy, legs, back. I wonder why my legs hurt when they were never operated on? My surgeon also fixed a hiatal hernia; I was always told that it was an umbilical hernia. I've lost over 10 pounds, so far. I'm happy about that.
