I am over a year out and I definitely have the rumblies in my stomach all the time. Doesn't matter what I eat. It's just that things aren't digesting fully so there's a lot more gas than usual. Also, I would get wet wipes for the bathroom. There's a lot of pooping going on and those help to calm down a little bit.

So I have come upon the dreaded stall. And yes I have read all the posts on it. Yes I am making sure to follow my instructions. Yes. I am just focusing on doing what I need to do. I know the weight will come off. My actual question is what has these stalls been like for DSers? I've read lots of posts from sleevers and Bypassers. Is it a different time frame for DS? How long did your stall last for? For my personal info, SW was 249. Surgery was done July 20th. CW is 236. I have been at this weight for a week now. Again, I'm not worried. Just curious if the experience is different for DSers as opposed to others. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well, I just had my surgery yesterday and everything is so far so good. The walking has been helping. But this is not nearly as much pain as I've experienced before. No nausea even. Just pain from the incisions. Thanks for the advice guys! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Like healthier and happier, I went in thinking I wanted the sleeve too. That is what my Mom had gotten after all. I was wanting surgery itself because after going on several diets with about 40-80 pound weight losses, I would just gain everything back. I've been so depressed over this last year because it's been slipping right back to where it started and I feel out of control of my body. Knowing my family history, I felt I needed to nip it in the bud. So when I went into my doctor's office, he went over the pros and cons for the gastric bypass, the sleeve and the duodenal switch. I ended up choosing the DS and here's why: 1. The DS is the in between of a bypass and sleeve. Your stomach is a sleeve instead of the pouch but you still have the malabsorption of the bypass, but without the dumping syndrome. 2. My mom is a couple years out from her sleeve and is starting to have trouble again with gaining weight. My mom and I are very similar in body type and obviously genetics which is why I look to her. My doctor wasn't quite sure if I should go with the DS. I'm 35 and my BMI is 42. Most people who get the DS are BMI 50 and above. However, out of all the WLS, the DS statistically has the least amount of regain. Your sleeve can still stretch out but you still have the malabsorption going on. I pressed upon my doc about my fear of regaining weight. This is it! I don't like feeling like this. And after this last time of losing 80 pounds, I'm not ignorant to how much better I felt getting tinier clothes, my energy, my mood...going back to where I started is the worst I have ever felt in my life. I don't want to go through all of this, just to regain it back again like how my mom is struggling with it. So a week from today, I will be having my DS. This is what fits my goals that I have for myself. There are pros and cons to every single operation, it depends on what fits for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am getting mine done at ORMC in Orlando with Dr Jawad. I have to do the pre-op diet no matter what. I've been gearing up for that as I start this coming Wednesday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi all! I am scheduled to have my DS on July 20th. I haven't even started my preop diet yet but looking forward to starting my new life. I must admit that I am a bit nervous as to the pain after surgery. I had a hysterectomy last year so I know a little bit of what to expect in terms of anesthesia and the like. This will be the first time I've ever had to stay at a hospital for more than a day. What was your guys' experiences? Nausea? Pain levels? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Gained weight just 3 weeks after surgery? How!

Your body is going through a huge change! A gain here and there is nothing to worry about. In fact, I find it better to take measurements every week. It could be retaining of Water. There are also scales out there that only measure your body fat and not anything else. So if it is water gain, you wouldn't see that reflected on the scale.
