  2. I think it would be worth it to have a consult with a Dr and discuss options and see if you meet the insurance requirements! I don't know if your in the BMI range but if you think it will be a helpful tool for you to get to your best health and feeling good, its worth considering!! 3. First of all, I'm glad you found some light at the end of the tunnel and reached out for help! That right there is something you should pat yourself on the back for! & thank you for this post! I am still in pre-op stage, and I had no idea about this emotional change. Also, I am also in the human services field and a huge part of the field is SELF CARE. So surgery or no surgery, its a good idea for people in this field to release life and it could be a good way of dealing with and working out feelings and emotions a health way. Now, I also see that SELF CARE is important for post-op WLS! Social workers, therapists, psychologists, support groups, nutritionist, whoever can give you educated and private advice will probably help! Don't be nervous about seeing co workers or ashamed because you should be on the other side of the table! Any professional will NOT belittle you for seeking help and there are STRICT ethical and moral guidelines for confidentiality in those professions! I hope you feel better and keep posting! What made you get a tat?

I got my first when I was 18 and I wanted it a while. I didn't necessarily have to wait til I was 18 cause my mom was ok with it, but that's how timing worked. I wanted something to represent my views on life and how others should be treated. Its on my leg above my knee and it says: "Human Like You" We are all the same in terms of skin, flesh, and blood. I think maybe people forget to be decent enough to treat one another with respect as a human being. Since then I got an oragami bird that's a banksy piece right below my collar bone. That one was on a whim, but I like it, I don't think I'll ever cover it or anything. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Band or Sleeve? So confused :(

My Doctor said that YES the band is still on the market but he doesn't believe for long. So he said he'll do a band if you absolutely beg him to, but highly discourages it and suggests the sleeve. Over all, it's more natural because there are no foreign objects in your body and there is no jumbling the way you were originally created. Just taking something out. Also, little personal story to add: my mother's good friend had the band and she is sick from it almost everyday. It doesn't stop her from eating at all, she's now over 400lbs. It only slows her down, but not by much. I believe when food is an addiction and/or is something that's hard for individuals to control (could be due to medical conditions etc), the sleeve forces better diet, encourages exercise, and better portion control overall. Post Your Silly Rant

People who have multiple noises going on at the same time. My mom does this All the time, TV blasting, watching a YouTube video, and talking on the phone or WORSE trying to talk to me, all at the same time! People who call you and are talking to someone else... I immediately hang up on them. Last one I can think of.... When you're driving on a single lane road with a speed limit of let's say 50 mph and someone is turning right And slows down for 3 miles prior to the turn then comes to a complete stop and then proceeds to s l o w l y turn.. JUST GO!!!!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

    Here I come world!

Good for you!!! I'm 5'8" and I weigh 248, I lost 33 lbs in the past year and 11 since starting this journey. My doctor said DONT LOSE ANYMORE WEIGHT(for insurance purposes). I was actually devistated because I was doing so well and then had to stop dieting... So I'm trying to maintain weight but I don't really know how to do that... Its either eat healthy and on my diet... Or eat regular and gain weight for me (I have pcos). So these weeks before I get approved are so nerve racking as well!

I'm wondering if anyone is / was in a similar situation, and how long did the insurance take to approve it? Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

    Robotic Surgery?

I work for the VA and some of the medical centers are doing the robotic surgery. I've heard it's extremely precise and non invasive. There is also I doctor right there, so its not like no one is there in case of an emergency! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

    Is your surgery a secret?

I whole heartedly agree. I came on here to find advise, relieve some stress and connect with people in a similar situation as I am in. The amount of hostility around here is unsettling. I'll have to put a pre-lude to my next thread... PLEASE NO HOSTILITY OR BICKERING. I feel bad for some people who are coming on here to get away from other stressors and actually get relief/ answers. It can all be avoided by people moving on and not posting... If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all! If you think this thread will end up being a heap of shit that you've been involved in before, KEEP MOVING. No one forces anyone to throw intolerences around. I hope it gets better from here, because I've seen this nonsense on a few threads. On the other hand, thank you to all the people who genuinely answer, stay on topic, and care. Is your surgery a secret?

@ -- at work you need only tell them your doctor is scheduling you for surgery, its private and you do not wish to discuss. The only time HR/boss can push on that is that if it is a worker's comp injury, which this is not. When they ask when you will be back, you'll tell them when the doctor clears you to come back but you hope to be back in 3 weeks of less if everything goes well.Thank you! I'm going to keep that in mind! I just think it's going to be hard because the company I work for is literally 5 employees so it's really small and we all talk all the time... I just have to just stay strong. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App
  25. I've tried OTC diet pills before and they've had the worst affect on me. I felt jittery and uncomfortable and didn't lose any weight. What I did to lose the weight was cut out all carbs like bread, Pasta, and rice. If you go on pinterest you can find recipes that are high Protein carb replacement. My face are cauliflower mash and cookie dough bites made from dates and peanut butter! These foods made me feel great and I lost weight. Best of luck!
