I'm finished all my pre op duties for my insurance and I'm waiting on the approval! (Yay)!! But I'm in a little dilemma. I haven't told anyone about my surgery except my mom, fiance, and one friend months ago. Did you tell anyone? I don't know why I'm not. I think I may be in denial about needing the surgery and I feel upset I couldn't lose the weight without this tool. Also, I've been up at night trying to figure out what I'm going to tell the people at my work when I have to leave for 1-3 weeks... Just feeling stressed... Hey all, I was wondering if anyone's doctor told them he/she made your stomach "very small"? My doctor told me this many times and I've asked what he means and he said he's making them much smaller now. He said I should only be able to fit about 2 ozs. My mom had the same surgery 5 weeks before me and he tells her it's 4ozs. She also had a ridiculously easy recovery. I guess I'm just confused why he did this. My recovery IS awful and I can basically eat nothing. I just hope this feeling goes away. I feel my body starving itself. 2ozs of puree every 2—3 hours... Very hard! Lol a couple people I know who've had the surgery were jealous too. I threw up for 3 days straight, you wouldn't have been jealous over that aspect lol. But I'm about done week two and still on very thin liquids. Just started have about 3 baby bites of puree! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Wow that would make a lot of sense. I didn't know about the boogie! Thank you! I've actually asked him about three times and he says he makes them much smaller now then what he used to due to people needing revisions and our bodies can handle smaller stomachs. I'm not feeling sick anymore but it was definitely different then most of the recoveries I've heard about. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

I've had this a few times. And I had the anxiety too. Not being able to eat but feeling starved. This happened in the grocery store. I wanted everything and felt so hungry, but I knew I couldn't physically even eat. I'm trying to eat sustaining food now that I'm on purees. It's still comes in waves but one bite of oatmeal or guacamole and the anxiety goes away. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

5 days post op and I'm hungry!
Tara1992 replied to turtle5569's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was starting the first week. I kept telling everyone I was hungry and I was so dizzy. I was eating pills like it was food. But the difference was, I had no desire to eat, I was just hungry!!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
I get full on like 2 small bites of mashed potato. I think it sits different in different people. Also, I can eat a lot sooner after mashed potatoes than I can denser food like peas and oatmeal. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

My NUT was exactly the same way. I was stressing about every little bite and she told me to stop killing myself over a spoonful of food. She said it's too stressful and ultimately that would lead to more weight gain! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

How to break the habit of eating and drinking
Tara1992 replied to JayVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow I didn't know it could cause weight gain down the road, thanks for that info. I'm struggling with this too. Once or twice I've drank my meals and had no room for nutrients. One time I ate and drank and got sick. I have to break this bad habit and I think it'll be the hard way for me. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
How much should I be able to eat
Tara1992 replied to gustavio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm two weeks out and it's less of a feeling "full" and more of an "I need to stop eating now" feeling. I can barely eat anything at all rn tho. I don't even have to try, I know I wouldn't be able to eat a bite of banana. But everyone is so different. Withing 4 days my mom was calling her surgeon to want to move on and eat "regular" food. (side note: she's doing really well, we're all just very diffferent). Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
Pain with soft food
Tara1992 replied to Leather'nLace's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happens to me too, I thought it was an exchange of food for air. Usually after food (still on puree) gets all the way in, air comes up and I burp!! I think it's also swelling and too big of bites. Just not used to the change yet Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
I'm 8 days post op and I'm having the same thoughts. I try to tell myself is not rational! I think it's hard to wrap the mind around such a big thing our bodies just went through. I'm going to stay positive, as the weight comes off regularly and I know how to control my food I think I'll be feeling better. As of right now, I just can't eat!! I didn't understand this either after first. 5 days post op and I get it tho, the Water seems to have air in it that doesn't sit right with the new tummy. Once the air and water do an exchange it's fine but it's pretty uncomfortable. I still can't eat but water is tricky. And once you get a little dehydrated, your body goes into deprivation mode and you must drink!!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Tried cottage cheese for the first time - help me jazz it up
Tara1992 replied to trekker954's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Sorry to hear that! I always suggest small small exercises to people who have limited mobility. Start small, maybe lift the remote 40 times in on TV show or whatever can be a challenge to build on for you. Lifting legs up and down or having a small weight next to you. There are tons of "TV exercises." as far as good goes... As most of us can attest to, protein protein protein. If that's not working I'd ask the Dr, maybe something else is off, going on? I was sleeved the same day! I'll start by saying that I'm so jealous. The pain I expierenced on day 2 was INSANE. Today on day 3, I am doing a little better but very uncomfortable. I vomited about 25 times in the hospital and thank goodness, none at home yet. I tried on tiny half a tea spoon of Jello... Nope. I crave Water and actually had a tiny bit of diluted apple juice and vegetable broth. I never imagined it was going to be this hard for me. My mom who is 36 years older than me was ready to go out and the doctor let her transition to regular food within 2 weeks.... I did wanna tell you tho, for pain, what's working for me best is ibuprofen, then percocet, then ibuprofen, then percocet. They took me off of diludad after the first day because my gas was so bad they needed to change my meds, then put me on liquid ibuprofen and it was a miracle. I notice that too much percocet hurts the tummy tho, probably because there is no food cushion. But I'd def ask the doctor about ibuprofen!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

Hi all, so I thought I'd share a cute and funny little story with you guys! If you ever feel like your life's a mess, refer to this story! Lol Ok so I'm getting married next May 2017 and this is a 2+ year long wedding planning expierence extravaganza. In February of this year, is when my WLS experience began with my first Dr appointment. August 22, 2016 is my planned VSG surgery date. If you've ever been engaged or married, you know that there are a couple questions people ask you from day one of that rock being on your finger, (1)"do you have a date yet???!!!" This is usually followed by, NO WE'VE BEEN ENGAGED 30 SECONDS or YESSSSSS (INSERT DATE HERE) WE ARE SO EXCITED! and question (2) "did you pick out a dress?" Needless to say I have done everything in my power to avoid dress shopping because I'm not where I wanna be weight wise/ dreading the thought of looking at my fat arms in a mirror with people watching. I'm an avid thrift/ antiquer and I was out with my mom one day at an antique mall and I find a dress..... I looooooove this dress, I can't leave it, I start crying. I decide to just get it, it's $80!!! It's also a size 10!!!!!! I haven't been a size 10 since the 6th grade. So naturally I try it on ever couple months just to maintain depression and pessimism that I'll never fit in this thing. Now, every time the dreaded dress question comes out of left field, I internally panick and immediately tell people "NO I HAVENT TRIED ON DRESSES!" How dareth you ask that! So no one knows about my surgery, no one knows about my dress, and no one knows how many tears I'll cry if I can't fit in that dress by May 2017! Anyone else ever had/ have wedding dress dread?? I might want something different. I guess my thought was, in the event I don't want that dress, I spent $80 and I could sell it if I don't want it anymore! I didn't have wls as a thought when I bought it. When my mom wanted to persue it, I took the journey with her. And I'm so very glad I did! Thank you guys for sharing, it makes me more excited for the process, other than just fitting this dress!! Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App

IV fluid weight gain and 3 week stall
Tara1992 replied to Kindle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just got my surgery date, and the simple answer is NO. My surgeon didn't tell me about iv fluids, just learned this a few minutes ago on a different thread. Good thing because if I left the hospital and weighed more without knowing, I probably would have cried. I've read about the 3 week stall on here as well, had no idea about that. I did although know about the carbs, my nutritionist was very thorough! I actually lost 11lbs and haven't even done my 2 week pre op diet yet. My NUT is also the one who told me to come on this site. I think my surgeon is very busy (no, that's not an excuse) but he might not remember who he tells what to. I have no doubt in my drs ability, he's been mazing from day 1 and very supportive and understanding. I see how vets on this site can be very frustrated tho. I've been on here a few weeks and see some posts and think to myself (really.....??). The first few days were hard to navigate and I'm still lost if I use the website instead of my ap, but I try to chime in where I can and read more. Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App -
