I'm on October 3. I'm getting excited. I haven't found the liquid diet to be too bad either. I'm missing food but I don't feel very hungry. I had a WICKED sugar withdrawal headache on Day 2 but that has gone away now. Good luck to you...can't wait to hear about your success!

I'm on the 3rd. How is the liquid diet going for you? I'm on Day three and doing ok. Mostly i just wish I could eat. Don't feel tired or very hungry, just sad about not eating. I'm excited about surgery though! More excited as it gets closer and less nervous.

I start my liquid diet tomorrow and I have my pre-op appointment today at 4. I'm actually getting less nervous and more excited the closer it gets!

Healthy Fats...I'm suspicious of "nonfat"
rachelCA posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live on a farm and have a pretty strong aversion to eating natural foods that have had fat removed from them. This is not due to flavor, although whole foods do taste better. I just want to be eating food as close to its natural state as possible and I truly believe that is healthier. I understand that will mean that I need to eat smaller servings of those items (whole milk, "regular" cheese and cottage cheese, whole eggs, homemade bone broth instead of nonfat canned broth). I'm wondering if all of the advice to eat nonfat dairy and broth is just about setting healthier habits and losing weight faster or if there is actually some physical reason we are advised to eat nonfat things. Is there anything related to healing post-surgery or dumping that would be impacted by having whole cottage cheese or homemade broth with a bit of fat in it? Again, I really understand the caloric implications so I don't need advice about that. Having this conversation with my nutritionist was incredibly frustrating due to her deep belief that animal fats are bad (I don't agree) and the fact that I have no credibility with her in regard to food choices or my health since I'm fat. Ugh! Thanks for your help. -
I'm October 3rd too! Excited and scared and really trying to figure out how much time to take off work and what to tell my employer about it. Do i tell the truth? Just take vacation and not say a thing? Tell them some lie like I'm having my gall bladder removed? I'm really not sure what is best. What are you guys doing about that?

I've lost 25lb in 8 days on PRE-OP diet
rachelCA replied to Kernowgirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I haven't had the surgery yet but I was on an all-liquid diet last year using the exact same Protein drinks that my surgeon recommends (New Directions) and I lost 31 pounds in 14 days then another 18 pounds the following 2 weeks. Sadly, the weight came back in as soon as I stopped drinking those shakes, but the weight loss on that diet was remarkable! For context, at the time I was 5'9" and 256 pounds. September Surgery...Lets do this
rachelCA replied to etorres's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled for October 3...is that close enough to hang with the September crew?! I'm super nervous and I can totally relate to the anxious eating. I was taking really good care of myself through the process of being cleared but somehow as soon as I got a surgery date and insurance clearance I started back on sugar and junk food. I feel pretty bad-physically and emotionally-as a result. I've read lots of stuff that says I'll have better outcomes and fewer complications if I eat healthfully and exercise leading up to the surgery, but I'm having such a hard time with that right now. Ugh! I haven't posted much here but I'm glad for the support. -
