Helpful notes in prep for surgery
WendyA88 replied to kgarrettsatx's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bring a throw blanket. I had my surgery in June and was still cold. A blanket, pillow, robe, and long loose PJ dress were most helpful during hospital stay. Oh and my wonderful husband who helped me up and down to bathroom and back to bed. Hope this helps Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App -

I generally gain weight on my period, then lose it after. My dietician told me its completely normal to gain up to 5lbs during that time of the month. Also I was told that a stall would be occurring around four weeks postop due to the way the body reacts to our new eating habits after surgery. That was told to me by the nutritionist at the bariatric surgeons office, and its true because I just hit a stall. But good news at the 8 weeks post op mark I'm told weight loss will definitely pick up again. Hope this helps. Oh and awesome job with losing 40lbs that's incredible. Personally it doesn't bother me to tell others. I told friends and family and they told others. Everyone was sincerely happy for me and offered me so much support. Its in my opinion, their encouragement and support made me work harder to meet goals. The truth shall set you free. It's completely up to you and what you are comfortable with. Best wishes. Constantly nauseous
WendyA88 replied to bypassthatbunni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is true. I recently discovered that my gastric sleeve surgery saved my life. I am very lucky to say they detected h pylori infection during my surgery. I have been living with this for years and had not known. Luckily, no cancer was detected and am taking the necessary treatment the doctors have provided through medications to treat this. I suffored with extreme nausea and heartburn after surgery and now know it had nothing to do with my surgery. Hopefully this helps others in some way. Best wishes to all. Surgery went perfectly, according to my surgeon. Although I have had the worst nausea and hiccups from the anesthesia, which has made recovery brutal. First couple days couldn't hold down water, now I can hold down sips of water but not jello. I had the absolute best care team they really did everything they could for me and more. I can't wait for recovery to be over and start my journey. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App

I also went out and bought non skid socks for the hall walks and because hospitals are always cold. Just throwing that out there. Lol maybe it will help with cold feet (surgery jitters) as well. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App

You are definitely not alone on this one. I haven't really exercised on the two week liquid diet. I'm on the last day of only Clear liquids and no Protein shakes. Ickkk. I finally had energy a couple days ago and have took a couple 15 minute walks. Stay strong. Sent from my SM-G360T using the BariatricPal App
