  1. I had .25 cc taken out and that was the difference between drinking/eating and not being able to get anything down my throat! Had a nightmare 5 days, after 2 emercency appts my dr managed to find my port and remove quarter of a ml. I lost 9lb in 5 days and kept it all off!

  3. Please can anyone let me know the signs of a band over fill? I had on 48 hours ago and am struggling. I've had 5 fills before but this seems especially tight.

    Band over-fill

Yep, thrown up about 6 times since yesterday morning. I get a mouthful of phlegmy mucus that I can't seem to swallow (I try to spit it out as much as poss but I'm a teacher so it's not always convenient). Since yesterday morning I've only eaten a cupa soup and half a small bag of cheesey air type chips (in the Uk we call them Quavers -that melt into nothing) I tried some hot water last night but threw that up about 2 hours later as it was still there!
  5. I had my band 10 months ago (April 08) and have only lost 15lbs so far- ALL 15 have been since the 5th Jan 09 !! I had my 4th fill and am not at 7ml in a 10ml band. It was really tight for a week and then slackened off slightly so I could eat and drink without burping anything up. Don't get down, try all the advice that's been posted and you will succeed. :-) Gill x
  6. B- 100ml probiotic yog drink 80cals L- 1/2 cup of Pheasant casserole (my sister lives in the country and eats Pheasant quite a lot) and a small pack of bread sticks with dipping cheese. 120 cals (not sure for the casserole!) S- 1/2 cup of couscous made in a mug at work. eaten in 2 lots. D- 1/2 cup of turkey in low fat sauce
  7. I had my 4th fill on monday evening and had 1ml more (1cc) put in my 10ml band. I now have 7ml in there as 6ml gave me hardly any restriction. (I could eat anything with a glass of water). I was quite tight when drinking the Water at the clinic whilst he was adjusting the Fluid in it. I know that the tightness wears off a week or so after the fill so wanted it noticably tighter to begin with. Eek, now I think I'm too tight and to top it off, I think I'm getting a cold too so that will make it tighter anyway! I only managed a teeny amount on tuesday. Half a scrambled egg in the evening and I couldn't even drink water til 3pm. Today I forced half a cup of tea down this morning but it was cold by the time I got half way. And have managed a small amount of mashed potato and some baked Beans for lunch and a bit more 2 hours later. I am producing a load of sticky mucus instead of saliva and have twice had to spit this out after eating. Please help, does this sound normal and that my fill will relax a bit in the next couple of weeks? Or, do you think it is too tight? HELP! Gill, uk
  8. Pixel, I am feeling the same as you did when yous tarted the thread. I think it's too tight but I'll persevere for a few more days as I think it may be just swelling. Gill x
  9. I say I prefer vegetarian options because it's usually something with veg and cheese that you can mash.
  10. Today is wednesday but on monday evening I had my 4th fill (of 1 ml) and now have 7ml in my band. I feel like a stuffed turkey all the time! It kept me awake the first night actually. Tuesday I had: a sip of coffee at 10am half a cup of thin tomato Soup at 3pm (as couldn't get it down any earlier) a 100ml pro biotic yog. half an egg scrambled and half a cracker with 2 tsp baked Beans I managed a pint of warm blackcurrant squash/juice before bed as Water is difficult for me to drink quickly. Do you think my band is now too tight?
  11. The burps feel amazing! Like a balloon deflating! i sound like a drain pipe :-) Teehee.
  12. Today I ate: Breakfast- 2 oat crackers with very low fat soft cheese and 1oz tinned ham (I'm certainly a savoury person and could eat tomato pasta or chicken curry for breakfast if needed!) I took and extra 20 mins to eat the last half an oatcake as I wasn't watching what I waas doing (actually I was watching the olympics) and swallowed it without chewing enough, hurt like hell! eeeeek. drank some water and waited a while then finished it. Lunch- a Starter of buffalo wings. There was about 9 with BBQ sauce, but I ate them with my knife and fork (no nibbling and sucking them with my fingers until they're clean!) I was having lunch with a friend who does not know I'm banded so I had to make out I wasn't very hungry and so only managed to spear the main bits of meat from the bones. It's difficult with a knife and fork- believe me! (I had a 45min swim in between :-)...) Snack- 1 ladle of homemade soup which was yummy actually. Dinner- small portion of Salmon pasta with parmesan. Half way through I started sucking the salmon off the pasta as I got bored with chewing it all up! Damn- I had 2 small glasses of wine too. And I was doing so well :-(
  13. Is this normal? I haven't even budged half a pound in this last week and have been banded 2 weeks today. I'm eating around 500 calories a day by having soft stuff and Soups etc. Is my body thinking i'm starving? Do I need to eat more? Will my weight loss kick in soon? I was delighted with my 10lb in my 1st week but to lose nothing since then is quite disheartening. Any professionals out there that can suggest something? Or even non professionals for that matter!! Thanks, Gill x :rolleyes2:
  14. Thanks for the advice. I know I'm healing and still do love my band but It was just a bit deflating. Gill x
  15. Luscious- how much did you lose post band (not incl pre op diet?) ? I'm trying to increase my calories and Protein now! Thanks for advice Gill xx
  16. I was banded 10 days ago and am allowed soft mushie food. I am definately not over eating as am having really small amounts but after a few bites and chewing really slowly, making a 'soupy mush' in my mouth, I get a stabbing achy pain in my back, right between my shoulder blades. This has happened three times now. Either I've pulled a muscle (but as a massage therapist, it just doesn't feel like I have....) or it's my bodies way of saying "ok, enough food now. Stop." I hope it's the latter as this comes within 5-10 mins of eating. I'm only eating around half- two thirds of an egg type amount. Does anyone else get this? Perhaps I've just hurt my back and it's still stiff after being in hospital (but I don't feel stiff!) Lost 10lbs in a week, but no more for the last 4 days. Hope this is normal too! Happy Banding :blushing: Gill :scared2:

    Creamy Spinach Chicken Salad

Also, The whole 'canned chicken' idea. Is it really that good? Does it beat normal chicken just because it's already minced and squished into a can? i'll buy some and try it.... I used to think canned meats were really fatty so maybe they're changed? Or maybe you have yummy ones in the States and we have the yucky ones. Oh, well, will get some anyway! Gill x

    Creamy Spinach Chicken Salad

Could someone kindly post the ingredients of this wonderful sounding dip on this thread as I'm in the UK and we don't have it over here ;-( So I'll make my own version... I'm sure it's not rocket science but I'd love to know the 'secret' ingredients that make so many of you rave about it! I'm guessing Spinach is one of them..... just a hunch :-p

    LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions

You won't feel hungry for a while afterwards, and I suggest sticking to more liquids before moving on to oatmeal. Small amounts of strained soups and broths are usually a good idea. That's what all of us other bandsters did when we were banded. I'm 8 days post op and am still on liquids. It helps the band heal in place if you don't everdo your eating. I'm not sure about your medication for gas pain as I'm in England as we don't have the same brand names. Walking around is the best way to relieve pains and take normal painkillers if the feeling gets really bad. Mine was terrible on day 5 but eased by day 6. And today I'm 10lb down and free from all pain. Glad you made the choice to have it done :-) check out the other posts about liquid stages and aftercare as it sounds like you didn't get too much information. Gill x

    Why am I bloated?

Who? Me? Banded Friday April 11th- day 8 and 10lbs down :-) Lovin' it
  21. I drove this morning as I had a knee appointment (from a reconstruction I had in October due to a fight with a tree whilst skiing a year ago) I had my band on friday 11th. So 5 days I waited. I'm quite lucky as I don't have much pain from the wounds, I only have little sticky steri-strips over my incisions which are being changed on friday by the local nurse in my GP surgery. I can even lay and sleep on my front and both sides. However, Karma is a bitch as my gas pain is TERRIBLE. I was almost in tears this morning as I walked to my knee appointment. I winced as I undressed, I winced as I sat on the bed, I winced as I sat in the car again. It felt like my womb and intestines were being ripped out of my belly . I wondered if it was period pain, but alas no, that would be easier to come to terms with, i.e. take some pain killers and it'll ease. I went to the supermarket and bought peppermint tea, ginger tea and a wind-ease type antacidy thing. I used double the teabags and made 2 cups (yuk). I then sat forward across a beanbag on my tummy to try and coax the air upwards (and hopefully outwards!!) No luck. So then I thought about all your lovely advice on these forums to 'walk, walk, walk'- So I did. Indoors. From living room bay windows, across the room, through the hall, through the kitchen and into the dining room, around the big dining table and out of the kitchen back into the hall and back to the windows in the living room. I soon had my cat following me back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. I must've made around 12 round trips across my house. Even the cat ended up sitting in the hall waiting for me to appear from the kitchen, and then from the living room, then from the kitchen again.... I hope none of the neighbours saw through the windows! So, any more ideas as nothing seems to work ?(not even a number 2:rolleyes:) And gas-x strips are not available in the uk and I don't want to see if EBay have them as I need relief now! Gill x x x P.S. lost 5lbs since Friday :-)

  23. Have my direct email address as it's so muhc easier. I haven't been on the site for very long and am still finding my way about.

I was banded friday and am doing well I think. A little pain but didn't take any pain meds today.

Email me with whatever you like and I'll do my best to answer it as best I can. I have done 3 years of research so even if I haven't been through that particular topic I may know something about it.

I check my emails usually at least twice a day during the week, and once at the weekends.

Do you have words that irritate you?

My boss will come into the office and ask for urgent stuff to be done 'ASP' instead of ASAP.... it starts to grind after a million times..... In England there's a word that we use to refer to morons, I guess you guys in the USA would say jerks or whatever, our word is 'divvy' and it makes me want to puke. 'Div' I can just about manage but 'divvy' makes my skin crawl. Cool thread, got me thinking of stuff rather than my painful gas 3 days post op :-)
