Candygyrl replied to diamondchic94's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi @@diamondchic94 I'm from Michigan! Annnnnnnnd guess what? I'm having my surgery at Beaumont Royal Oak with Krause. Sounds like we have lots in common so far. I'm scheduled 7/1. I'm in my PreOp phase as of now. I'm new to BP so feel free to hit me up! -

@@2tired2befat lol! I'm not surprised. You have the ones who don't understand weight struggles. Then you have the ones that are comfortable being overweight and thinks you should too. Then you have the ones that are straight up dramatic and freaks out over everything. My Mom and I are pretty close I mean we have our share of differences but She knows my struggle. She too has struggled much longer than I. Shes been overweight pretty much all of her life with some yo yo dieting successes and fails. My struggle came later. Around 28 then I was diagnosed with PCOS. Ever Since I've lost and regained (+5) each time the same 50 lbs. +5 turned into another 35-40 lbs on top of the original 50 and now you have the makings of somones heading to their episode of TLC's my 600lb life. In fact I will admit she was a little salty that I did not include her in my initial decision so that she could've completed the journey with me. Cause again she now wants to do it. I told her she can watch me and decide if she really wants to go through it cause this is no split second decision. I want to tell others. Other family members, friends, coworkers but I knew they would give me that whole "Really??? I mean do you really need to go so extreme???" I don't need to defend my reasons. I'll be happy to share once they begin to notice my transformation and ask me what I'm doing. Until then... I'm doing it for me. -
What are you looking forward to?

I've only told my mother and husband. They've both been very supportive. I am truly blessed. I had made a decision to have the surgery 3 years ago after many failed attempts and struggles with PCOS. I told myself if I can't do it within the next 2 years I will accept defeat and have the surgery. Here I am. Surgery date is 7/1. Do it for you. You dont owe anything to anyone but yourself. Their support may come later but don't let this waiver your decision. Surgery is a scary word and what some see as an extreme measure to take so just give her some time. I took my mom to the informational session and with us both being RN's it made complete sense. She even wants to do it now! -

Well I'm blessed not to have any pain, I can cross my legs, so forth and so on. I was denied however 2 rides at cedar point due to the lap belt not fitting. Quite embarrassing especially in front of my kids. I dress well but... I'm looking forward to not having to shop in the plus size section. Wearing the size 8 shoe that I was accustomed to before the weight gain put me into a 10. The 20 year class reunion cruise I'm booked for in May 2017. I'm 36. Most people who don't know me think I'm late 20's early 30s. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I'm hoping to de-AGE by at least 10 years. Not feeling so insecure in pictures. I will do a photo shoot once I reach goal weight. I could go on and on but those are a few on the top of my list. -
I just started my 2 week pre op diet today. Surgery is scheduled for 7/1. Dietician told me I could definetely have smoothies. I was doing 7-14 day green smoothie fasts once a month for the last 3 months. So if you like fruit smoothies with a little spinach and flax seeds or Chia seeds that is a awesome breakfast and dinner alternative. You can always add a scoop of protein powder like a muscle milk or whatever tickles your fancy. Plus they are so satisfying in terms of satiety. Everyone's program is different though so if your Dr only wants you to drink shakes then do whatever you have to. Sorry!

Great plan @@determinedtolive and congrats on your June surgery! Hope all is well thusfar @Outsidemachine thanks for the tip. I've heard about head hunger and I guess I won't quite understand it until I experience it? I think of it in terms like when I restrict certain foods from my diet but crave them like crazy. Its mental. @@PRINCESS2218 that's exactly what I'm doing!!! Meal prepping for the next 2 weeks. I messed up though. I didn't buy sugar free popsicles and Jell-O. Its cool, I can eat them now pre-op but I understand post op I should stick to sugar free items. I was going to wait until Monday... but I started today. I'm officially 2 weeks pre-op!!!! I made a fruit smoothie this morning-- strawberry, banana and blueberry. Added a little Water. Yum! At work right now... having a chocolate Protein shake, will have a Jell-O in an hour sipping plenty o' water in between will have another protein shake about 3:00, and another smoothie when I get home. I think I 'm good with clear and full liquids. I stick to what I like. I'll probably get the flavorless protein by unjury to add to my foods post op. Won't be able to eat as much. Currently drinking about 8 oz, of smoothie or Protein Shake each meal. Post op that one 8 oz protein shake might last me the whole day!!! I need to start working on a post op food list for once I'm in the pureed and soft food phase. I hate cooking... So for now, I'll stock up on baby food so I'll at least have my sides and a few Entrees and use the next two weeks finish purchasing my post op clears and fulls and set the stage for the puree and soft phase. -

I start liquids 6/17 but may wait until 6/20. Surgery date is 7/1. I have began purchasing my jello, chicken broth, Popsicles, and protein meal replacements. So I should be good to go. I've started bringing items to work so I don't have to worry about not having it once I start. -
