Is there a support group in Conroe or Willis? If so, please post the info as to where, when, who to contact, etc. If there is not one is anyone interested in getting together and starting one? Let me know. Thanks!

Hey Sarah, glad to help. You should call Karen and talk to her, that's what she's for and she's the expert! I'll be in Conroe and Houston tomorrow, I'll give you and Melinda a call and see if either of you can meet me at some point. I'm seeing Dr. Collier in the afternoon and JourneyLite in the morning but I'm getting my Woodlands shopping addiction taken care of before and inbetween appointments. I'll also get my Conroe fixes after my Dr. Collier appt. Hopefully we can meet. Let me know, or I'll call. I'm sending you an email with some info we talked about the other day. When I saw Dr. Collier on the 9th he told me that in June they would be starting a support group but I haven't received anything from his office. Did they call, email or how did you receive the info on the support group? I have an appt on the 4th with Dr. Collier, if ya'll want to meet that day or evening. Let me know. How's it going Sarah? Hope you are doing good. Melinda, how are you doing? I'm doing good, at least I think I am. I don't know how much additional weight I've lost but I"m sure I've lost some. I have an appt for a fill on the 4th, guess I'll wait and see if I need it or if I put it off for a bit...I'll probably get a little bit of a fill, I'd rather have slow fills and many then for them to be agressive, it seems to work for me. I'll see what Dr. Collier says on the 4th. Please give me the info on the support group, I'll probably drive in for it, I'll just have to see. I know I'm out of town part of that week, I sure hope it's not that day. Let me know what's going on with everyone, call me anytime or email...I'm here for ya'll !! :crying:

I'll be at Dr. Collier's office at 9:45 Friday morning, I'll be at JourneyLite at 11:14 Friday morning and I'll be in Karen's office at 2pm Friday. I am going shopping at The Woodlands Mall at some point for a gift. I will be going to DSW shoe store, Kohl's, Michael's, Pier 1, GardenRidge, Kirkland's and who knows where else..........so call my cell if anyone wants to meet at some point Friday. Sarah, I saw your post that you'd be out and about, I'll give you a call or be at Dr. Collier's office when I am. Melinda, what's up in your world? When do you go back to Dr. Collier? What time are you going to JourneyLite Friday, I'm sure you'll be there early in the morning so I won't see you. Well everyone have a wonderful Mother's Day if I don't talk to you before then!! Congrats on your surgery date! I'm also a Dr. Collier patient and can't say enough good things about him. His "NUT", Karen is very good also, she answers all my questions time and time again. I'm having my 2nd visit with Dr. Collier on Friday, my 2nd fill on Friday and my 2nd visit with Karen on Friday....I'm very anxious to see how I'm doing. After the 1st fill things really improved with the hunger so I'm hoping the 2nd fill will be even better, we shall see. I'll post my update on Friday!

Well Sarah, tell your DH thanks! but when I started I had over 100 lbs to lose! I can't wait to see Dr. Collier and see how much more weight I've lost. I'm only using his scales for now. Soon I'm going to use my PCP's, she's very supportive of my having the band. We need to plan our next meeting......

I'm also a patient of Dr. Richard Collier and he is wonderful, I'd suggest you call his office if you haven't done so, but I don't know if they take outside patients. Dr. Collier offers fills free for life so I don't know. You might also call JourneyLite and ask them, that is where I get my fills but they have many surgeons so it's worth a try. Good luck!:huh2:

Dr. Collier is my surgeon as well, he's wonderful! I used Journey Lite as well as I was self-pay and they are very professional and yet very friendly and always make you comfortable. I've had one fill and it was painless, took moments and she's obviously very good. The aftercare is the reason I chose Dr. Collier and JourneyLite, it's the best around and I think we all know aftercare is probably one of the most important aspects of this type of surgery...we need support after the surgery to be successful, at least most of us do! Good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

I'd love to get together on a "regular" basis, maybe someplace in the middle??? haha Thanks for the compliment Sarah, I feel wonderful and I'm anxious to see what my weight loss is now. After yesterday I am moving my appt up so I can find out my current weight and get an appt for my 2nd fill. Melinda, it's like we've known each other for years so it was great to finally meet face to face with no curtains or screens.......haha You both have my cell phone, let's set another date! Anyone else in the area, join us........and I don't think I'll be driving to meet ya'll and walk, just a bit far. :huh2:

I live a bit farther north and really don't want to drive farther south than Conroe, unless I have to, that's why I was hoping to find a group in Conroe or Willis. Let me know if anyone wants to get together in Conroe or Willis.

Has anyone used him? What's his pre-op diet? How's his after care? I attended his seminar and he said all the right things....just want to talk to someone who has been there. Thanks.

Hi Everyone, my surgery was text book, per my Dr., thankfully. I did have gas which was uncomfortable but I knew about that because of this forum. Of course my incisions are a bit tender, but that's normal also, I'd think. All in all it's been what I expected. I'm 3 days out and today when I woke up I really felt like a different person, so I guess this was my turn around day. I'm taking off work tomorrow also, I figure one more day of R&R can't be anything but a bonus. Thanks everyone for your support and well wishes thus far, I'm very anxious to start sharing and using all the info here!

Has anyone been banded by a Dr. in the Conroe, The Woodlands, Bryan or College Station areas of Texas? I'll be self pay and would like any info you will share. I posted this in the Texas area also but had little response so I'm hoping the local area people will read and respond. Thanks!

Thanks to the rest of you for all your posts, I'll be banded on Thursday, the 3rd and I'm so excited, nervous, can't wait, emotions all over the place but so ready to start this new phase of my life. I'll keep everyone posted, surely I'll be shouting about it!

I'm just beginning my journey towards LapBand surgery and wondered if anyone here has had this surgery in Conroe, Bryan, College Station or The Woodlands, Tx? Any Dr's to recommend, any to avoid? Cost? Does anyone have private insurance that will pay for this procedure as my health insurance at work will not. Thanks to all of you for sharing your stories, I've learned much and actually had many questions answered already.

I'm also from Texas and being banded on March 13th at JourneyLite in Houston, by Dr. R. Collier. I can not wait, I'm on the pre-op diet and it's going good. Now my question, as you can see on my "ticker" it shows amt gained and amt to go.....to me that looks like I need to gain 104 lbs......yikes! How do I make my ticker look like everyone else's...amt I weight and how much to lose. A couple of people have told me what they thought would change it but so far nothing has, please help! Would someone please tell me how to change the info on my ticker so it reads like IndioGirl's...meaning, says how much I weight and how much I have to lose. Mine says 244 gained 100 to go. I ask this before but I'm hoping someone will see it and have the answer. I tried different set ups on "ticker" but couldn't get the result I was looking for. I'm all set for surgery on March 13th, can't wait. I'm on the 2nd day of my pre-op diet so it's all good. I'd also have hated to jump hoops for insurance, I'm a self-pay and for me it's good because this is for ME and about ME so I'll certainly stick to it since I'm the one that paid for it. I know everyone can't be self-pay but insurance sure puts a damper on things for people wanting help. Thanks everyone!
