  1. These are also signals of food sensitivities. I sneeze uncontrollably when I have garlic so I need to be off garlic for about 6 months. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Protein making me sick

I had the same issue. I was not able to tolerate whey or whey isolate. The only thing I was able to keep down was Growing Naturals brand rice Protein or egg white protein. The rice protein is a little grainy ans rhe egg white protein makes thigns foamy so it is a bit of a tradeoff. Sent from my SM-N930V using the BariatricPal App

    Blood work

The 24 hour urine is rarely done. They now have a spot check creatinine clearance with a small sample. I used to have to do the 24 hour urine every 3 month and have not done that for at least 8 years. If you dislike the 25 hour ask doc about the spot check. Travel

This is more of a vent, but if anyone has sugfestions i would appreciate. I am 14 weeks post open and travel often for work. When at home usually cook make my Breakfast and lunch. And tend to have dinner out a few nights a week since my crossfit session is out too late to make dinner. I have not really had to make any major special requests (just minor stuff burflger or chicken without bun, veg instead of starch) when eating out. Nearly all restaurants allow me to order a child's Protein and salad instead of fries. Unfortunately on my current business trip it has been a bit of a challenge. I am in Guam and the hotel menu's are quite starch heavy or fried. Every time I go to order food I have to talk to the chef and we analyze each menu item and come to the conclusion that nothing fits my needs. They ask what I want and I explain to them the things I usually eat, they think about it and suggest, "can you eat chicken?" I usually agree to chicken and it is usually dry. My local colleague is getting frustrated with my special requests. At home I eat eggs but have not been able to keep them down here I am out of ideas. I asked tonight if they have cottage cheese or Greek yogurt and they do not. I spend so much time talking about what to eat that I don't have enough time to eat it. So far the chicken has been dry and the burger patties and steak are tough. They have two salads on their menu - a kale salad with chicken and a chef salad. I don't do cold cuts due to sodium so the chef salad does not work. I walked six miles this morning looking for a grocery store and could not find one. Ithink has never been such a struggle to find something to eat. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

Fortunately, I don't. I do travel to many other islands in the region and I can usually get steamed local fish and rice - I just don't eat the rice. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

I did bring almonds, beef Jerky, and Punjabi snack mix (spicy lentils, garbanzo and peanut) in case I ran into this problem. Was just hoping to get a hot meal. Just three days to go. I was hoping to go buy cheese or cottage cheese but hotel cannot provide a refrigerator as they are all taken by there guests. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

  10. There were several medi-cal patients in my orientation at UCSF and they told them that there was no 6 month or 3 month pre diet. I think you should ask your primary care for a referral to a bariatric program. They can guide you on what medi-cal will cover. Sent from my SM-N930V using the BariatricPal App

    Non Scale Victories

I had my sleeve on 6/17/16. I can walk up 4 floors of stairs without stopping. I go to crossfit twice a week. I dont have to think twice before getting into a booth at a restaurant, or seat at theater, etc. I went from very tight 46 waist pants to a loose 40. Just bought a pair of 38 jeans that fit perfectly. I can do 45 squats. I can hang from a bar and pull my knees up to waist height. 28 pounds from goal. Your favorite food storage containers?

I use one cup pyrex bowls with leak proof lids. They were about $3 each at a corning pyrex outlet store. I also have a 1.5 cup rectangular container that use for salads. Sent from my SM-N930V using the BariatricPal App

    New with question

I went back to work after three weeks to work a conference and was on my feet for for 10 to 12 hours a day. It was manageable and I was not excessivly tired. I did get a room with a kitchen and took some food and Protein drinks but tended to eat scramed eggs, yogurt, or cottage cheese most of the time. I also ran week long conferene between weeks 5 and 6. Did exceptionally well energy wise. Did not have a kitchen at hotel but managed well with a less restrictive diet. Also carried a bottle of Water at all time. 15. I am at week 9 after gastric sleeve and the Protein bars are not an issue with the exception that I really find none of them palatable. I have eaten one in a pinch but prefer real food to the bars. I too am tired of eggs so I have been eating chicken, fish, or beef and some refried Beans or veggies. I am not much of a breakfast food fan. Also I have never been much of a fish fan but I have been trying to incorporate into my diet twice a week. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  16. I don't feel guilt regarding my weight. I don't blame my parents either. About 20 years ago i participated in a weight loss program with a famous weight loss doctor. I started that program at 337 and got down to 255. The program did include counseling and I discovered that many of my issues regarding food came from losing my grandmother who would sit me on the counter to watch her cook. I learned to de associate food with love. I kept the weight off for 15 years. Over the past 5 years I gained about 30 pounds while I was in a position that required travel 4 days a week. I dieted and could only get to 265 and plateau. So now that i am in my late forties I decided it was time to deal with my weight so I had gastric sleeve. If you do have feeling of guilt or shame I would suggest you seek therapy. It is beneficial. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  17. My progam allows salad at 6 weeks. I often have 1 loose packed cup of salad with 2 ounces of chicken or crumbled feta and topped with home made tzatziki or a teaspoon of home made vinaigrette. I eat the Protein first but usually able to finish the salad. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  18. I have stage IV CKD and did the sleeve to facilitate getting on the transplant list. Since surgery my GFR has increased to a point where I am now at Stage 2 CKD and may not be transplant eligible. My PCP predicted this to happen. I did not have any complications related to CKD. I also went to a bariatric surgeon who is also a transplant surgeon. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App

    Why no soda

I do not drink soda and have not for years but what I was told that that recent studies indicate that carbonated drinks contribute to stomach stretching. This is the primary reason my plan says to avoid it. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  20. I am six weeks out and have all of the things on your list except ice cream. I keep natural no sugar Peanut Butter packets in my back pack for a quick snack and have a teaspoon or two with fruit. I hate soft bread so I get firm bread from a local gluten free bakery and have a thin slice once in a while. I have had a tablespoon or so of rice and have had boiled or mashed potatoes. Canned Soup is not something I would normally eat. I tried it the liquid phase before making my own as I did not like the taste. Prior to surgery I regularly made homemade coconut yogurt but o do not do so anymore since it is not Protein dense enough for me. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
  21. I quit cold turkey and not had diet or regular soda in more than 12 years, luckily I did not have to give up my unsweetened iced tea. My program allows unsweet tea and black coffee. Sent from my SM-G925V using the BariatricPal App
