  1. I keep having the horrible " episodes" . My upper stomach hurts so bad I can't stand up. So very painful. It peaks with me needing to violently throw up, but nothing ever comes up. Even times where I had just eaten 20 minutes ago. There is no rhyme or reason to these attacks. One while driving where I hadn't eaten in three hours, one at night after eating two hours prior. One mid day after doing laundry, had just eaten.....I went to the emergency room last night cause the latest attack lasted two hours. By the time the doc came to see me, I was feeling a better. They ruled out that i wasn't dying and sent me on my way. . I am still fighting to see my surgeon. What would be some reasons that I can't vomit? Has anyone else had these bouts? The pain is worse than child birth!! Yes, I have my gallbladder out. Thanks!
  2. I have lots of questions and concerns. I was so excited to have this surgery. I am very dedicated and follow rules and guidelines to the t. My surgeon did a great job. However, I was constantly throwing up the first week after surgery....they kept me a day longer and put me on Reglan. I was miserable. Barely able to keep any liquids in me. No where near my 60 ounces a day. The second week I was graced by the most painful diarrhea I have ever experienced. Not yet allowed to go to protein shakes yet....still working on liquids. The third week left me absolutely beyond fatigued and not able to use the bathroom for 9 days straight. They put me on Linzess to help with that. I go to my follow up apts and my stage two and three classes with the rest of my group. They are all doing great and telling of higher energy and moving on to solid foods. I am barely into the puréed food stage at almost two months out. I have never felt this sick and tired in my life. The weight loss is unimpressive. ( maybe because I barely get 500 calories a day? ) I try and try....it's so frustrating. The bad thing is , I don't get to see my surgeon. She is done with me. I am left in the hands of the PA and nurses. Who just keep telling me to hang in there....and on top of that, .I have experienced this horrible pain event three times since surgery. It goes like this : out of nowhere I get the most painful " punching" pain in my lower chest upper stomach. Once had it it while driving....it was so painful I almost crashed....had to pull over my eyes were watering...doubled over. I got myself home and plopped on the couch . My husband and I were discussing who could watch our kid while he takes me to the emergency room....by the time we made plans about a half hour later, it was starting to subside. This happened two more times. I know about "dumping syndrome" but it doesn't seem to be this as it never happens after eating....the first time I had taught for three hours only lightly sipping water, second in morning before shake or water and the third at night about a half hour after I finished my protein shake. It hurts so bad. Each time , it seems to slowly get better at the half hour mark. I don't know how many more months I can go feeling this much fatigue, malaise and pain. I wish my doctor would see me ( it's an hour and half away.. ). But still I would gladly make the trek! Any ideas what could be wrong? Anyone else feel this way? Thanks.
  3. I am almost exactly your stats!! I feel your frustration! The other two ladies in my group lost 42 and 47 pounds at their two month mark ( we were all around the same weight to begin with ) I lost 29. Most of it the first week. I am having trouble getting my protein , and fluids and things don't stay down well. As a result, I am still barely getting 500 calories a day. My nutritionalist says that that is why I am slow losing weight. My body is not in fat burning mode, just survival mode. I have been encouraged to eat more calories, healthy fats. I try , but can barely meet my protein requirement. So frustrating. I don't understand how someone who eats 400-500 calories a day, teaches dance and Acro and walks 45 minutes a day and 20 minutes strength training a day only loses 1-2 pounds a week top! There goes the calories in to calories burned ideal! I feel your pain. Literally , it's painful. Let's hope our weight loss journeys kick in soon and we can make up for it in month 4 and 5! Good luck!

I'm going to use this a LOT around here.

    Number four......ha ha!
  5. My nutritionist told me the single sugar free pops counted as one ounce and a half
  6. Thanks everyone, I will push them harder to let me see my doc.

    Realistic Weight Loss/ Surgery Day

Thanks! You are younger than me, so I am sure you will do awesome! Bring slippers and warm things! The hospitals are so cold! They make ya walk all the time too, so if ya don't like those gray gripper socks, maybe a different slipper or shoe.

    Realistic Weight Loss/ Surgery Day

I would say that's resononable. Just remember that everyone is different, there is no set amount. From what I read and the people I know that have this, a lot of them meet their goal, but few keep it. It seems to be a 25-30% gain back for long run. You might have to keep working really hard for the 150, your body might want to hover around 175. The long term is in your hands. My biggest advice is to not expect a guarentee that what you read and know and what you have been told will happen, doesn't always. I, personally am having a really rough go. But then again, another woman in my group had a wonderful surgery, easy hospital stay and moved seemlessly through all the stages . Says she has so much energy, the weight is coming off and never been happier. It's hard work. Be ready for things not to go as plan, be great full when they do, and I send positive vibes for a wonderful experience.
  9. Oh, and excercise. For sure. I teach dance and Acro plus love my long walks with my puppy....was hoping I can get more energy so I can start my Zumba back up....
  10. I will look into the pouch widening. I wish I could " demand" the surgeon see me. Is that a thing? Can I do that? As for following to a T .....I guess I should have phrased that differently! Leading up to surgery, and intentions after, yes. I just simply can't seem to meet my 60 ounces of water AND my protein requirement. Lately , I have been alternating days with trying to meet liquid one day and protein the next. It takes me three - four hours to drink a 14 ounce shake. Then I can fit anything in for at least an hour. The puréed type food I have been trying Lately is scrambled eggs and canned chicken with a little mayo. I get about two bites in and then it comes up. I was hoping by the end of month two I would be having small bits of food. I do get all my meds and Bariatric vitamins in every day, though I still have to crush them. Thanks all

    Endoscopy

Nope. EGD. Have them once a year. They make me drink up before they put me to sleep......
  12. No. They took that out when they did my bypass.....sorry , should have mentioned that as that is important!

    Endoscopy

The worst part is the numbing drink they give ya first.....tastes yucky. But very quick and easy. I get one every year. Sometimes you sound horse and have a sore throat after, but it goes away by the next day. Good luck!
