Why does my poop smell so bad since surgery?
sondra2368 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am one month post op. I have been health conscious my adult life regarding this subject. Prior to surgery, I was able to smell what I ate the next day when I pooped. Now I poop every three or four days and without a lit candle it's horrible. I don't want to go at work because it's embarrassing. Can I do anything to help this situation? Why does my poop smell so bad since surgery?

I drink liquid yogurt and take two ascidopholis capsules daily. What else do you suggest? Maybe Currelle tablets? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I would only have them once in a while. I mixed two potatoes with canned chicken. It lasted three meals and made me go to sleep since it takes energy to digest. Try canned chicken or tuna with low fat mayo. Also there are Bariatric cookbooks and bariatriceating.com Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I know it's not a new topic but...DAMN STALL!
sondra2368 replied to debd80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's the sodium intake. I had my surgery May 25th. I lost and then stalled. Then I checked my sodium intake. It makes a huge difference. Every Soup, every cheese, virtually anything that tastes great has more than 5% sodium. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Finally saw my surgeon after 13 days postop
sondra2368 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Asked him about the following things: 1. Numbness in the hands which I never had He said to take pediasure ice pops for electrolights 2. I asked him about bloodwork to tack Vitamin deficiency and kidney function creatinine test He said that he doesn't test anything until a month and a half post op. He said to drink more Water so that I urinate more and to continue to take the Bariatric Vitamines 3. I asked him when can I go swimming He said anytime now 4. I asked him about low energy He said to drink more water and drink more Protein. 5. I asked him about the gerd I have in the morning upon awakening and the pain I feel when I eat low fat cottage cheese He told me to keep experimenting with different foods and keep taking the Prilosec. So I went to the store and bought pure almond butter and it tasted lovely. 6. I asked him about constipation since I take a lot of Iron Vitamines He told me to take colase stool softener. 7. As pretty and wealthy as he is, he's not the wealth of knowledge as you guys are on this website. It really seems like he's going through the motions and moving onto the next patient. His answer is that I drink an ounce of water ever 15 minutes and drink an ounce of protein every 45 minutes. He said that I will eventually move up to two Protein drinks per day. The only thing that went wrong today was that my inner thigh exercises using a weight machine in the gym caused my TI band in my back to irritate and inflame tremendously. So I went out and purchased a foam roller and took a pain killer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

In 7 months they should have warned you that you need to sip Water eat small amounts of Jello and ice pops for the first few weeks. It sounds like you were trying to eat and drink like you did before surgery. I was having difficulty adapting to this way of life after my surgery on May 25th. I too went back to the emergency for dehydration. It will take time and patience. Don't give up just please sip a 1 ounce cup every 15 minutes. Once your comfortable with that sip a one ounce cup of Orgain Protein drink and sip a one ounce cup for every three ounces of water that you drink. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Need advice about getting energy
sondra2368 replied to sondra2368's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've always been an overachiever. Can't imagine slowing down. Now everything is slow. If I take naps I won't sleep through the night. I used to be a hig energy person and now I'm exhausted. I take the Iron calcium and b12 and multi that is prescribed by the Bariatric folks. It's just that I can't walk more that a mile without getting tired.
